Style Style Small Group Tour Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.
Private Guided Private tours give you the undivided attention of a guide, and often involve special access to sites and unique experiences not available to larger groups. This is a great option for families, couples, and small friend groups. Expect to pay a bit more for the extra service.
Self Guided Tour A travel company plans your itinerary and arranges all the logistics including lodging, local activities, and transportantion. You have the flexibility of a solo trip while still getting the convience and time savings of expert planning. Get 90% of the benefits of a tour, without a guide.
Group Tour Groups are between 25-60 people, typically ~30-40. Usually there will be many opportunities to split off and enjoy meals and excursions in smaller groups. This is the most economical way to travel, saving up to 40% versus booking the same itinerary yourself.
River Cruise These vessels are smaller than most ocean cruisers, limiting which amenties are available. Passenger counts can vary. One of the biggest advantages of a river cruise is the ability to dock at smaller ports and local villages.
Small Ship Cruise Small ship cruises usually have a max passenger count of 500. The primary purpose of these trips is to spend time off the vessel in local ports (e.g. Mediterranean) or experiencing nature (e.g Galapagos or Antarctica). Cabins can vary from budget to luxury.
Large Ship Cruise This is the "floating city" experience, with multiple ways to enjoy your vacation aboard the ship as much as on land. Ships are multiple floors, provide several activities, culinary, and shopping options. They often make fewer stops and have less time available for shore excursions.
Retreats Similar to a self guided tour but staying in one location only with activities and day outings included as a part of the stay.

Just returned from the Best of India tour last night. Could not wait to give my reviews. As I have told my friends words cannot decribe the "awesomeness" of the tour. The rich history of India, the sweet nature of the people there and our incredible knowledgeable and humble tour guide Jasvir. Every question was answered with such perfect explanation and his in-depth knowledge of the forts and temples was amazing. He took care of each and everyone as if each was a long time friend. At the end of this journey you get emotional and bitter sweet. One caveat : walk with toilet paper wherever you go.

Tour guide Jasvir Saurana has been one of the best I've experienced in my 14 escorted tours over the years. He is knowledgeable, organized, experienced and most of all proud of his country. Being born of Indian parents but never visiting this awesome country until now, I had only minimum knowledge of this magnificent country with all its grandeur and history. Jasvir opened my eyes to so much more with his detailed explanations of India and Nepal in all their majesty. He is very caring and generous with his time and I'm grateful that I was a participant in this journey. Accommodations, transportation and incredible staff made my trip amazing and incredible. I compliment SmarTours for this great experience and would certainly travel with them again. Three Cheers for SmarTours and 10+ for Jasvir Saurana. Namaste.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Enhanced! Japan's Cultural Treasures tour. Our guide Katy did an excellent job. You see several of the "must-see" sights that attract a lot of tourists; however, most of the trip is devoted to experiences that you cannot have as a tourist on your own. This would include time with sumo wrestlers, a family visit, paper makin Read more aboutg, etc.

Full-on trip taking in Buenos Aires and both the Chilean and Argentinian
regions of Patagonia. We had an outstanding tour leader, Pepe, whose
enthusiasm, organisation skills, high energy and can-do attitude made for a
tiring but memorable trip. Walking in the Chilean Torres del Paine was
particularly memorable as was visiting the penguins near Ushuaia in their
natural habitat on the Isla Martillo (well worth the additional cost to do
this excursion). The weather was very kind to us throughout and we were
granted glorious views of both the Chilean and Argentinian peaks on our
full-day walks. Even in the early summer at the start of December Ushuaia was
cool and windy - you’ve been warned! Don’t hesitate to go now as
Patagonia is becoming increasingly popular and despite its vastness a lot of
land is privately owned and not easily accessible to walkers. The walks you
can do such as Fitzroy and Torres del Paine can therefore appear surprisingly
busy considering how remote they are.
Visiting the penguins in their natural habitat during the optional excursion
to Isla Martillo near Ushuaia. Only 20 people are allowed on their island at
any one time, together with a local guide/warden, so you feel really
    privileged to be there.

Outstanding. Pepe was first class in the way he led the group and went out of
his way to try and ensure everyone had the holiday they wanted. Pepe never
waiverd in doing his best to ensure everyone had a great time and knew what
    was happening everyday.

Yes, the final 1 hour of the long walks to see the Torres del Paine and
Fitzroy peaks is in my opinion a level 4, rather than the moderate level 3
rating. Both are short but sharp inclines over uneven terrain so you need to
be agile in picking your way along the rocky paths. Both are well worth it
if, like us, you get lucky and are afforded blue sky’s and no rain!

The weather is unpredictable and Argentina is huge, so there's a lot of
traveling and different temperatures to deal with, but it's unmistakably
unlike anything we're used to in Europe. Winds like you wouldn't believe!
From glaciers to jungle (if you do the Iguazu extension as I did) and a big
city in-between ... It has it all.
Going on the optional boat trip to see glaciers, and Iguazu. They leave you
speechless, awestruck and a little overwhelmed.

Tomas del Toro I think is an exceptional being. His energy and enthusiasm
will make you smile and motivate you to keep going and ignore the wind and
rain of Patagonia, when it happens. His attention to detail, general
knowledge and expertise, humanity and humility will exceed your expectations
of what you think the trip will offer.

    Do it!
