Guided Group Tour & Trip Reviews

A potential customer in the process of booking a tour for nearly £10,000 with Trafalgar, who thankfully stopped before it was too late.

We had a few questions to ask before final completion of our booking, but this utterly USELESS company can't even provide a sales team to answer the phone or web chat in a timely and efficient manner. After several failed attempts to contact them I decided to look here on TrustPilot to see if I was just being unlucky, and WOW thank goodness I did! I note their customer service reviews have been consistently atrocious for a very long time, without any responses or comments from Trafalgar, and apparently without them taking any action to rectify their appalling performance.

Over the years I've found many companies with slick and efficient sales teams but poor after-sales, but Trafalgar appear not even to have a competent sales department! This defies any semblance of commercial logic. If they can't even afford to employ sales staff how can they expect to make sales and take any money? They have certainly failed to take mine. Just staggering incompetence at the very first encounter, so heaven knows how bad they would be thereafter, and I'm not waiting around to find out.

My husband and I took the independent tour of Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto) in May 2023. Everything was great - airport transfer, local guides, and hotels (Hilton Tokyo and Kyoto Century Hotel). We've used Globus before for escorted and independent travel, and they're always the first place we check when making travel plans.

Globus has great guides to show travelers the best places and experience when visiting a country.

The total ‘exploration’ was excellent.
The issue I have is that when we booked for 2020 and were told that it would be 24 to 28 people with spare seating on the bus for ‘quiet times’ if needed.
In 2023, there were 43 people.
Made the tour director’s job more difficult.
The tour guides had an impossible job. When they pointed out something specific, if you were at the end of the line filing past, the guide was usually pointing to something different at the front of the line.
This resulted in the people at the end of the line asking each other what they were looking at, thereby, being a distraction to the entire group.
Definitely took away from the learning experience.
If you are having large bus groups, I would suggest having more than one guide to break into smaller groups at the tour destinations.
Just a thought.

I chose to use Intrepid due to a highly positive recommendation by a friend's wife who used them years ago.
My destination was Egypt, but they also handled my flights to Botswana prior to the tour as well.
All flights went like clockwork and the tour was terrific.
The sites were amazing, but our guide's affable demeanor and extensive knowledge ensured that every step of the way was both educational and enjoyable. Moreover, he extended his support beyond the tour, tracking our well-being until we safely returned to our respective countries which added an extra layer of depth to the journey.
I will be most definitely be using Intrepid again and can highly recommend.

Had an amazing adventure. Made new friends and some fantastic memories. Could not have asked for a better vacation!

The trip was organized. The tour guide was exceptional, Vallisiki. She made sure everyone’s needs were met and no one felt left out! I would use Globus again.

I really enjoyed my trip of Croatia. Zdenka was a wonderful tour director with excellent knowledge of the country which she shared with our friendly group. Her humour was welcomed as well.
Our drive, “Di Di” was excellent as he safely drove us across the country in his spotlessly clean bus.
The hotels were nice although I would have liked to have stayed in the original Valamar La Croma which was in a better and nicer location.
The food was good and the service was excellent everywhere.

Matthew was very attentive and followed through with our delayed luggage from Frankfort. That was very much appreciated.
The commentary was very informative and personal.
The coach was spotless, and Alister was wonderful.
We were very well taken care of.

George, our tour director, had everything organized for us. we just had to show up. I love knowing everything was ready for us to enjoy and we didn't have to worry about setting up anything.

Our tour director was outstanding. From our pickup at the airport through our farewell dinner everything went on time.

We used Audley travel to organise and arrange our holiday to Japan. I am usually confident in organising holidays but felt Japan was a bit too much to manage. I am so glad we used Audley, they took on board what we wanted to see and do as well as giving suggestions. It was meticulously planned, the itinerary was very comprehensive. Tips were given to help our holiday eg regarding train carriage information written on the floor etc.
Audley took into account our budget. They booked mid range hotels that were fabulous and close to train networks for ease of travel.
I cannot think of one criticism at all. The G7 summit threw up some last minute problems with our booking which Jo dealt with on our behalf , she fully consulted us throughout.
Audley ensured we had the most amazing holiday. I have no hesitation in recommending them based on my personal experience and would definitely use them again if I were to have another long distance holiday.

We just finished The Best of Canada tour with Trafalgar and it was first class every day. Hotels were beautiful and located in great areas. Bus and driver were great. Tour director was the best! I would recommend them. And we,like others, had 2 trips canceled and we waited along with thousands of others for a refund. But we knew it was going to take time and patience is a wonderful thing! We will travel with them again.
