Great Trip! Excellent crew, outstanding itinerary, wonderful food! The only (very slight) problem was a water leak at a window. It was corrected within one hour! Our guide was most helpful and very well voiced, No question went unanswered. Food was varied and there was always plenty. Fresh baked breads with the meals. One tour day we were caught in a heavy rain, waiting under a raised house. A crew member came from the ship with ponchos and umbrellas so the tour could continue. Shoes/boots were cleaned by crew upon our return to the ship.

What a great trip. The crew, tour directors and the ship could not have been more perfect. The "Illumination" was less than one year old. Very clean. The food was really good. Everyone associated with the vessel was so nice and accommodating. We plan to travel with them again.

W travel a lot of and our river cruise with Avalon was great. Neat clean ship, great rooms with view, great food and drink. They really made the experience smooth and fun.

Unlike anything else out there

Our travel agent recommended Avalon based on his own experiences in travel. We couldn't have been happier with the decision. When the water was low on the Danube toward the beginning of the cruise, Tibor efficiently made changes for the 120 passengers, and the staff remarkably made it possible to sail after only one day on land. Everything went smoothly and with good humor, thanks to excellent leadership and strong teamwork. If we cruise again, it will be with Avalon.

We will definitely travel with Avalon again. Everything was first rate from the friendly, efficient and accommodating staff, to excellent meals, wine, entertainment, staterooms, wonderful tours and great tour guides. The fact that their were only 138 passengers made for an enjoyable and more intimate experience. Our Cruise Director, Tony Jenkins was terrific and made a point of interacting with everyone. Truly a magical experience!

Avalon will be our first choice for our next river cruise.

The boat was beautiful, the food was great, and the employees were uniformly friendly and helpful. I've only been on the one river cruise, but it's hard to imagine a better experience.

This is our 3rd cruise with Avalon. Such a great cruise line.

We had an amazing trip on the Cambodia and Vietnam excursion offered by Avalon. We started in Siem Reap and spent 3 days taking in the wonders of the Temples of Ankgor Wat along with many other Temples in the area. The Temples are a must see before commercialism takes over the area. We had very nice accommodations at the Victoria hotel in Siem Reap. We boarded the Avalon Siem Reap for the cruising part of our trip. We travelled from Phenom Penh where we had to board due to low water on the lake. We did still go up stream to see as many of the sights as possible with the low water. The ship is beautiful! just launched in 2015 and it shows. The staterooms are large with full wall windows to view the cruise from your room, but you don't want to stay in your room with a beautiful, comfortable observation lounge and the outside viewing deck. The amount of rooms on the ship (18) lends itself to encouraging everyone to get to know each other.
We were traveling with 2 other friends, but by the end of the trip we knew everyone and established lasting friendships. The cruise down the river was amazing. We were able to dock and visit local villages along the way and really felt like we were experiencing local culture. Our cruise director Phiem was wonderful. He made sure that each guest received personal attention as well as giving information about what to expect along the way. A special part of the trip was getting to travel through a narrow trade canal where most passenger boats are too big to travel on. Following the river cruise we docked in Ho Chi Minh City and had a whirlwind stay there, we could have stayed there at least one more day. We elected to take the extension to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, well worth the trip. Ha Long Bay is about four hours each way from Hanoi but is really a mystical place. We were glad that we traveled to South and North Vietnam, both places had their own uniqueness. Avalon did a great job with excursions and immersing us in the local culture. We really liked the small group feel. We would highly recommend this trip.

This river cruise went beyond my expectations. The ship and the staff were very professional and helpful. The land excursions were educational and the tour guides were very good. I enjoyed the guides, because they shared from their own life experiences. Needless to say the food was delicious and the staff was delightful. I would do this again.

This was my first river cruise and I was really excited about it. We took the Tulips cruise. My childhood dream was always to go see the tulips in Holland, and this cruise fulfilled my dream. I would highly recommend Avalon Waterways.

Our trip from Paris to Normandy on Avalon was the best vacation experience we have ever had. The accommodations, the food, the service, the staff, and the crew were absolutely first class in all respects. When we go again, it will only be on Avalon.

I have nothing but praise for my experience aboard the Visionary last October. The level of service was exceptional, food was excellent and varied every day and the cabin was well designed for 2 people with enough storage for everything. The marble bathroom and spacious shower were elegant. I thoroughly enjoyed my week aboard the Visionary visiting interesting cities along the way and only unpacking once!
