What to Look For in Nature Tour Reviews

Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.

Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.

Depending on the traveler, a “nature” adventure may be something new to them. Especially if the sound of hiking/camping sounds awful, you may be questioning if a nature trip is something you should go on. There are some surprising parts, such as limited cell phone service in some areas.

Luckily, even in the mountains, most lodges/hotels generally have some sort of internet connection, so you’re not entirely out of touch. When dealing with the outdoors, unpredictable weather can change your itinerary. A good reminder is this can happen on any trip, regardless of the destination.

Overall, many people were beyond pleased with their nature tour. The world has so many awesome landscapes, it’s incredible to get out of the city life and see what nature has to offer. For people who went to New Zealand, everywhere you turned, there was beauty. From the helicopter ride over glaciers to ride a boat through Milford sound, to hiking the coastal walk, and the rolling hills of the North Island, the view was consistently amazing. Many people noted that even with a several week long trip, the scenery was so spectacular, they wanted to go back on another trip.

This seems to be the overall theme of nature trips. Sure, two weeks doing nature things may seem long, but the awesome part of nature is no two days are ever the same. Sunrises and sunset change daily. You’ll experience different weather and capture different views. This is especially apparent for those who do nature trips involving animals.

Safaris are incredible for this reason. You can spend a week long doing game drives every day, and no drive will ever be the same. You’ll see different animals displaying different types of behaviors. You may run into elephants six different times on one game drive, but each time, it’s spectacular. You’re always on the lookout, and there is never a guarantee you’ll see a particular animal, so every encounter is a pleasant surprise.

As if you needed another reason to go on a nature adventure, but in case you do, nature trips often bring new points of views. You can sit on the beach and look at the ocean, or you can see mountains in the distance or from a scenic overlook. Or you could be hiking the mountain, or paddle boarding in the water, seeing the scenery from a different perspective. On top of that, you get to spend the time enjoying the area.

There are plenty of nature tours for people to choose from, so if you’re looking for rainforests, beaches, or mountains, you’re sure to find an adventure. Some tours may even offer all three!

Aer Lingus airlines was great! The package we purchased was good overall, some of the hotels were fantastic and some not so great but that seems pretty fair.

Was hard to get someone on Aer Lingus phone.
Scheduled Bunratty castle banquet, was given 5p dinner(printed time), got there and said I was scheduled for later dinner!
Many B&B's were already booked, also couldn't book close to Belfast or Dublin City. Thought there would be more B&B options.
Would have liked one night stay in hotel near Shannon on first and last night, instead of 2 nights stay on landing.

Once we landed in our first destination, the trip was utterly phenomenal from start to finish. The accommodations were great. All the activities occurred seamlessly, There was a perfect balance between planned events and free time to discover the wonders of the places we were visiting. Above all, our tour manager went out of his way to assure we all had a unique experience creating opportunities to see places that weren't in our itinerary and making sure he met the individual needs of the tour members. The four star rating was given for two reasons: 1) Flights were unfortunately not setup appropriately, and it became a he said/she said issue between the airline and ACIS (three members of our group could not get on the initial connecting flight). 2) It was unanimously agreed that the best food eaten on the trip was during lunches when you could find your own food. The scheduled meals, though well planned and multiple courses, were often average.

Lorna was quite knowledgeable as a guide, and Ricardo was a friendly and accommodating bus driver. Some of our hotel bookings were not great, although that was rectified once we made our frustration known. Americans should be booked in hotels in the summer that have air conditioning.

I went to Italy this summer and it was amazing! I learned so much - about art especially but also the culture (food especially!). The whole trip was well planned so that we had a variety of experiences including some time on our own for choosing what we'd like to eat for lunch so it wasn't all decided for us. I chose squid! And of course the scenery was gorgeous! Well worth it!

The majority of the vacation and hotels were awesome. We had a few issues with Dooley rental car and the Hotel Fitzgerald Woodland House (would not recommend that hotel and it was certainly not a 4 star Hotel, 3 star at best). The other 3 hotels were outstanding and the trip itinerary met all of our requirements and needs. I would highly recommend the Quaint Villages Package.
Aer Lingus did a great job in scheduling the trip and providing all of the required information. It was a wonderful trip, memories of a life time

Our tour guide John could not have been better. Of course, a few logistical challenges and itinerary changes popped up over the course of the week, but he was able to alter plans and schedules quickly and without any major problems. He had deep knowledge of the language, history, and culture of France, and also of wider Europe. He was also very friendly. He knew the Paris Metro well. Just wonderful.
Three out of four hotels were very good to excellent, the other was acceptable but in need of renovation and some things in the room didn't work properly.
Breakfast at the hotels were all good to excellent in terms of variety and quality. Hotel Lorette Opera in Paris had the standout best breakfast and lobby amenities. Merkur in Saint Malo had the nicest room overall, but Lorette and Kyriad (Tours) were also fine. Villa Modigliani in Paris had a nice location, but the room was not as clean and somewhat rundown. The control for towel warmer in the bathroom was broken and the warmer was on the whole time, heating up the room and warring with the room AC. The card entry system was down for nearly 24 hrs which made it a real pain getting in and out of the room. Overall not a great experience at that hotel.
Dinners were all good. My two favorites were at Bistrot a deux tetes and Les Gourmandes de Notre Dame, both in Paris.
Of the sites we visited, my favorites were Mont Saint Michel and the American Cemetery in Normandy. Also enjoyed the grounds at Chambord and Versailles.

ACIS always dellivers! I've taken students on trips in Europe and Central America with ACIS over the course of the last 12 years. They always have top notch tour guides, hotel accommodations, and excursions. This is the only travel company I will ever use. Other travel companies may be a bit cheaper, but the saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. With ACIS, I can assure students and their parents that we will be safe, that any problems that arise will be handled swiftly and professionally by our guide and the ACIS staff, and that students will not return home the same as when they left. The experiences on these trips encourage our students to continue to be world travelers and equip them to be global citizens.

I looked into a number of different travel companies before deciding on ACIS and now, two years and two trips later, I am so glad I made that choice. Both trips were incredible - community service opportunities that helped students meet the requirements for graduation, activities the students enjoyed, transportation that was perfectly coordinated, meals that catered to all tastes (including allergies and diet preferences), the best, most knowledgeable tour manager and capable bus driver, hotels in fantastic locations with wonderful amenities. Students and parents alike have told me that the trips were life changing experiences for the students. Everyone with whom I've had contact in the Boston office has been professional, friendly, and extremely helpful; any concern I've ever had has been handled quickly and efficiently. The global conferences that teachers can qualify for are certainly an amazing perk; my first year I went to Barcelona for a training weekend, this year I'm off to Nicaragua. I plan on traveling with ACIS for many years to come.

We traveled about a week ago on the Via Aurelia trip and I could not have asked for a better experience. Our tour guide, Ana, did an unbelievable job in making sure we were safe, well-fed, and happy! Looking back now, I know my feet hurt, but I don't know how we were able to fit so many amazing things into a short 9 days. As a teacher taking my first trip with ACIS, I was blown away by the preparation that goes into the trip and how well ACIS took care of us. Most importantly, the students' reactions were priceless. My favorite comments were "omg, I need to come back to study abroad." What more could you ask for as a foreign language teacher? THANK YOU ANA and ACIS!!!!
