Turkey's Gulf of Gökova is an astoundingly under hyped holiday destination. Endearing seaside towns, shrubby mountain backdrops and private coves with shimmering blue sea are being totally missed by the masses. Which makes it perfect for us to explore. Picture yourself aboard a traditional Turkish gulet boat, eating home cooked meals and lapping up sunshine between snorkels.

Itinerary

Day 1: Start Bodrum

Getting straight down to business, this show kicks off in the coastal town of Bodrum within the nest of our traditional Turkish gulet, no less. Gulet is a sailing boat, which looks like it's straight out of Instagram. This will be perfect for lots of boat jumping duri...

Day 2: Bodrum to Cokertme via Orak Island

Wave goodbye to the Turkish harbourside, it's time to get salty! Our first journey at sea this morning will take us from the arms of Bodrum and into the pristine Gulf of Gokova. The drift to Cokertme just can't be done without a stop on Orak Island. Bikini up and get ...

Day 3: Cokertme to English Harbour via Seven Islands

If yesterday didn't leave you in need of a sleep in, rise in time for the first rays of sunshine as we disembark with Seven Islands on our minds. The day is yours, Captain Wanderlust. Run through forests, search for sea-creatures, or lull about onboard our boat workin...

Day 4: English Harbour to Karacasogut

Sulphur pools and full body mud masks? Hell yes we'll take the day trip to Dalyan Caunos! And since we're being so at one with nature, searching for endangered loggerhead sea turtles sounds like a very fine idea. Then it's back on the boat as we head towards our next ...

Day 5: Karacasogut to Ballisu via Cleopatra Island

Sailing out of Karacasogut in search of Cleopatra Island - it doesn't get more exotic sounding than that. Mythologies and seashell shorelines and pretty distant hills make Cleopatra Island one of the most special beaches in the world. After soaking in the seas that ap...

Day 6: Ballisu to Pabuç Burnu via Kisebuku & Kargili

Ballisu will be behind us, but that's okay given a whole day of prettiness sits ahead. Bays sheltered by pine trees will set your heart into a flutter as we float towards Kargili. Besides taking it very easy on the shore, today's agenda will involve the ancient Byzantine ruins of Kisebuku. It's our second last night of sailor life, so make the best of tonight at a local bar.

Day 7: Pabuç Burnu to Bodrum via Yaliciftlik

We'll raise the anchor this morning and make our way to a small local village on the coast, because stretching out those legs could be just what's in order. This cute local village is bound to impress on this Free Time Add-on experience. See Turkish carpets being made...

Day 8: Depart Bodrum

Team sobs and many hugs will conclude our Turkish sailing adventure shortly after breakfast. The only thing we can say to ease the pain is this: Contiki has something equally as wonderful going on in Croatia, go get involved.

We’re firm believers that life’s greatest experiences are made better by the people you share them with. That’s why Contiki invented group travel for young people in 1962 and we’ve spent the past 53 years perfecting it. You’ll explore amazing destinations with a group of 18-35 year olds from around the world who share your passion for adventure, good times and creating memories that define what it is to be young, wild and free.

No two travellers are the same and we know that, which is why we offer eight unique ways to explore the world. We have a number of options to choose from to create a vacation that’s perfect for you, from budget to accommodation style.

We're all about exploring the world with like-minded people, which is why we only run trips for 18-35 year olds, to celebrate being young, spirited and curious. You can expect to join a group of 18-53 awesome people from around the world on our Europe, Australia, North America and New Zealand trips, and in Asia and Latin America it's all about small group adventures with up to 25 travellers. Don't worry if you're not traveling as a couple or with a friend from home – though there are plenty of pairs, 50% of our travellers set off solo, meaning you'll have a ton of opportunities to make new friends.

With over 270 trips around the world and plenty of departure dates to work into your schedule, you'll never be short of options on where to go for your next great adventure.
