    Itinerary

Day 1 : ARRIVE IN FRANKFURT, GERMANY.

ARRIVE IN FRANKFURT, GERMANY. Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free. Tonight, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers.

    Day 2 : FRANKFURT–WEIMAR–BERLIN.

FRANKFURT–WEIMAR–BERLIN. Our first stop today is in Weimar, one-time intellectual heart of Germany and host to such luminaries as Luther, Cranach, Bach, Liszt, Schiller, and, of course, Goethe himself. It was at one time rightly known as the “Athens of Germany.” Continue through Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt all the way to Germany’s capital city, Berlin. (B)

    Day 3 : BERLIN.

BERLIN. On this morning’s included guided tour, learn how the city is no longer divided but every bit as fascinating. Once the city of contrasts with its West and East side separated into two different worlds by a wall, Berlin has developed into a harmonious blend of old and new. It has preserved the old buildings, such as the State Opera House and Brandenburg Gate; its neoclassic-style boulevards, such as the Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden; and it has created brand new buildings in the most daring, contemporary architectural styles. It is once again Germany’s capital and one of Europe’s most lively and interesting cities. (B)

    Day 4 : BERLIN–POZNAN, POLAND–WARSAW.

BERLIN–POZNAN, POLAND–WARSAW. Drive east to Poznan, one of Poland’s oldest trading centers and admire its renaissance market square. Continue to Warsaw, capital of Poland. (B,D)

    Day 5 : WARSAW.

WARSAW. The included sightseeing tour is an excellent introduction to Warsaw, magnificently reconstructed after wartime destruction. Today, its wide avenues contrast strikingly with the narrow lanes of the old section. (B)

    Day 6 : WARSAW–JASNA GÓRA–AUSCHWITZ...

WARSAW–JASNA GÓRA–AUSCHWITZ–KRAKÓW. Two encounters with history on your southbound journey today. First, JASNA GÓRA near Czestochowa, the monastery that withstood the repeated onslaught of overwhelming Swedish forces during the religious wars of the 17th century. Since then, its Black Madonna is venerated as the “Queen of Poland” and has become the country’s national symbol. In the afternoon, visit what is left of the AUSCHWITZ CONCENTRATION CAMP, a chilling reminder of the Holocaust. Evening arrival in Kraków. (B,D)

    Day 7 : KRAKÓW.

KRAKÓW. This is, they say, Poland’s most beautiful city. For almost 500 years it was the country’s capital; today, it is without a doubt its cultural capital. Join the included morning sightseeing in ancient Kraków, for centuries the residence of Polish kings. See the Market Square, the Jewish Quarter, St. Mary’s Church, and visit WAWEL CATHEDRAL. Free time later to explore this interesting town at your own pace and mingle with the locals. (B)

    Day 8 : KRAKÓW–BUDAPEST, HUNGARY.

KRAKÓW–BUDAPEST, HUNGARY. Travel through three countries today. First, south to the Tatra Mountains of Poland, then through scenic Slovakia, and finally into Hungary. Your destination is Budapest, the most lively of Eastern European capitals. (B,D)

    Day 9 : BUDAPEST.

BUDAPEST. Budapest is a treasure trove of architectural wonders, from Gothic to Baroque, Neoclassical and Art Nouveau, but also full of history, a food capital and surprisingly rich in thermal waters. Discover all of this and more during the guided city tour. (B)

    Day 10 : BUDAPEST–VIENNA, AUSTRIA.

BUDAPEST–VIENNA, AUSTRIA. Head for the Austrian border to Vienna in time to enjoy the afternoon and evening in this lively capital. Enjoy the included sightseeing tour with a Local Guide: the State Opera, Parliament, and the Town Hall. Stop for a stroll in Heroes’ Square to view the Hofburg Palace. (B)

    Day 11 : VIENNA–PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC.

VIENNA–PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC. Morning at leisure or join an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace. This afternoon, cross the Czech border into Moravia, then through the rich farmlands of Bohemia to Prague. (B,D)

    Day 12 : PRAGUE.

PRAGUE. The wealth of gothic and baroque architecture perhaps inspired Dvorak and Smetana, both Prague composers. The included guided sightseeing features landmarks such as the Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town Square with the ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK. Your Tour Director may suggest an optional evening excursion with traditional Czech music and spectacular entertainment. (B)

    Day 13 : PRAGUE–MUNICH, GERMANY.

PRAGUE–MUNICH, GERMANY. Into the landscape of the Bohemian Forest before reaching the Czech-German border. Drive south, enjoying the Bavarian scenery, to Munich, Germany’s “Secret Capital,” where you will drive through the city and see the main highlights. (B)

    Day 14 : MUNICH–NÖRDLINGEN–ROTHENBUR...

MUNICH–NÖRDLINGEN–ROTHENBURG–FRANKFURT AREA. The highlight today is undoubtedly the ROMANTIC ROAD, which runs north to south as far as the Alps. First, visit lovely medieval Nördlingen, built on a crater formed by a meteorite approximately 14.5 million years ago. Then onto Rothenburg with its ramparts and towers, cobblestone streets, and 16th-century houses, before heading towards the Frankfurt area. (B,D)

    Day 15 : FRANKFURT AREA.

FRANKFURT AREA. Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (B)

Amazing trip! We saw a lot of countries in a short time and were constantly on the go (which is what I was looking for). The best part of the trip was our guide, David, who was knowledgeable and fun.

The Central Europe Tour was not my first Cosmos tour. I did not think that this tour would be able to match my previous Cosmos Tour. I think it would be unfair to say it was better or worse. It was a different experience and definitely exceeded my expectations. I was taken to a world rich in history and beautiful architecture. The stereotype is that many do not like Americans so some may be more timid about going on a trip abroad. This is not so. I interacted with locals who were more than happy to start conversation and talk about life. I felt very well received everywhere I went. As in anywhere you go.

This trip gave me a great taste of Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. It definitely leaves me with the desire to return to see what more these countries have to offer. I got to drink the best German beer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Don't jugde me. I walked the romantic streets of Vienna. I enjoyed the many architectural styles of Prague, and the friendly, fun loving hospitality of Budapest. I danced traditional dances with exotic strangers never to be seen again. The city of Salzburg was crisp, beautiful and picturesque. Let's not forget bout all the amazing food these countries have to offer. Tasty and hearty meals I still dream about 6 months later.

The coach rides to and from the different countries was entertaining as well. Not only was the scenery paint worthy, our tour guide, Simona, was incredibly knowledgeable in the history of the regions we visited. How she never lost her voice amazes me. She is definitely an asset to the company and was very loved by our group. I still try to remember all the jokes she told at no avail. I tell them wrong every time and am left the only one laughing. Some memories are for you only I guess (giggles).

If you, anyone, is considering a Cosmos tour, this one should not be over looked. There are no second thoughts. What I have experienced on this tour, and other Cosmos tours is nothing less than life changing and solidifies what I want to do with my life. Write about the world and share it with others in hopes it inspires them to go out and live. Go out and experience the world around you. So far I have inspired some to go out there and that makes it so much more worth it. Go, fly, explore.

I am a budget solo female traveler. I have traveled with COSMOS for about 20 years in the past, all over Europe, Switzerland, Turkey, etc. The best thing is that I never have to pay extra for single supplement when I room with someone. If Cosmos can not find a room mate for you, you end up having the whole room. Because of this feature, I was able to travel everywhere by my self with reasonable price. Cosmos always provides great value for the bucks. I would do it again. I highly recommend to you all.
