Day 4 ZANTE

Join us for an excursion this morning to the Anafonitria Monastery. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it was built in the mid-15th century during the Venetian occupation. The monastery has two notable features: Its square-shaped defensive tower and the "miraculous" Virgin Mary icon it holds, which the Turks brought from Constantinople when they captured the town in 1453. Impressive frescoes dating from over five centuries ago adorn the church walls. Saint Denis, the island's patron saint, lived here until his death in 1622. As we return to the ship, we'll stop at an overlook to admire one of the most splendid beaches in Greece—Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach. The blue Ionian Sea and the pristine white sand contrast the Panagiotis wreck lying in the center of the beach. Different stories circulate about the 1980 shipwreck, but recently released documents support the tale of a cargo of cigarettes smuggled from Turkey to Italy and an attempt to evade the Greek Navy in a storm. In the afternoon, we'll visit a local vineyard. Our guide will bring us behind the scenes as we learn about Mediterranean wines. We'll also enjoy a tasting as the guide explains the wine tones produced at the vineyard. Lastly, we'll head to the island capital for some free time. Although the 1953 Ionian Earthquake destroyed most of the older buildings, a stroll through the city center is worth it. Discover this small, vibrant town by visiting Solomos Square, the Agios Dionysios Church, and the Byzantine Museum (entry fee required). Our ship will cruise to Kalamata overnight.

Day 4 ZANTE

With medieval castle ruins as a backdrop, take a stroll through the olive grove and learn how the fruit is grown and harvested for oil production.Next stop is the olive mill in the heart of the village, where the owners will explain the extraction processes while you taste the different grades coming directly from the famous Kalamata olives. We’ll enjoy an evening of traditional entertainment.

Day 5 KALAMATA

We’ll spend the morning cruising.Excursion to an olive oil producer in Messenia. We’ll enjoy an evening of traditional entertainment.

Day 6 KALAMATA

This morning, join us for an excursion to the Palace of Nestor and the village of Methoni. King Nestor, a hero during the Trojan Wars, build this extraordinary Mycenaean palace. In 1939, American archaeologist Carl Blegen unearthed the first traces of the palace at the site in Pylos. He found over one thousand tablets with Linear B script, confirming the palace's central economic role. Wine and olive oil were already the main products in the region. The tour takes place on walkways providing an elevated view of the site. The most remarkable artifact, without a doubt, is the stone bath. Archaeologists have linked the asaminthos cited in Homer's Odyssey with this very bathtub. The digs continue at the site, with archaeologists having discovered Mycenaean tombs recently. We'll continue on to Methoni to visit its medieval castle. The extensive fortress in the modern city of Methoni reaches out to the sea. To access the first impressive fortress gate, you'll need to cross the arched bridge, timeworn by the stormy seas. The next two gates lead to the inside of the fort and its once-active medieval city. The Turks built the Church of Metamorfosi Sotiros, baths, and the Bourtzi fortress in the 15th century. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising. Presentation: The Peloponnese, a Historic Land.

We are still waiting for a refund for Porto Duoro Valley River Cruise 28 Sept 2020. We had to pay the total cost by June 2019 & opted for a refund less the non-refundable NZ$1100 deposit in early 2020. We are very frustrated that CroisiEurope is continuing to promote cruises for future passengers without honouring their contract with us. This is not the way to run an honest buisness!

As a travel agent, I try to find suppliers that have the service and ethics that I expect for my clients. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that CroisiEurope is not one of them. I received confirmation that the clients in the four cabins I had booked on the Oberammergau cruise would get a full refund in 3 - 4 weeks. The email contained attachments with the refund amount for each. Right at the beginning of the 4th week, they sent an email saying the law had changed and they no longer had to give refunds! That’s fine for those going forward, but to retroactive back to the clients that had already received refund confirmation is ridiculous. Some of these clients are in their 80’s and were only going for the once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau. Having a credit for a future cruise does them no good nor can some afford to lose that money. Shame on you #croisieurope I as well as Cruise Planners home office will be letting the rest of Cruise Planners organization know this is no longer a vendor to use!

I planned a 3 week vacation this April that included a 7 day, CroisiEurope cruise on the Rhine. Due to the pandemic, my flights, hotels and cruise were canceled by the respective companies. I got refunds for my hotels and flights, but not from CroisiEurope.

They finally agreed a month ago to give me a refund, but then a few days ago, I got an email that they are not going to honor their agreement and I no longer get a refund.

To make matters worse, I get a SPAM email from them offering "risk-free" cruises to new customers.

Here’s an excerpt of the email: “We understand that some of our guests might be hesitant about making a cruise reservation or traveling at this time. For this reason, Croisieurope has introduced a Risk-Free Guarantee. So that you can plan your journey with peace of mind, we guarantee to hold your 2020 cruise departure reservation without deposit, and wait for final settlement until 15 days prior to departure.”

So, for a new customers, CroisiEurope is willing to offer risk free travel, but customers that paid money and had their cruises canceled by CroisieEurope these past 2 months, we get no guarantee of anything and they will keep our money.

I think anyone considering a cruise with CroisiEurope should be very hesitant and consider another cruise company that will stand behind its customer. I can’t recommend them since they are solely focused on acquiring new customers and don’t care about their existing customers, especially once they have taken their money.
