This evening, enjoy drinks and nibbles as you watch the sunset over "the Rock." Before returning to your hotel, visit the Field of Light. (B)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT
AUSTRALIAN ARTISTRY As darkness falls, the Field of Light comes to life. This amazing art installation was created by internationally celebrated artist, Bruce Monro. Munro’s vision was to re-create the vibrant hues of the wildflowers seen here previously. In this garden of fantasy, you’ll witness 50,000 slender stems crowned with frosted-glass spheres sway through the desert night. Overwhelming in size and covering more than seven football fields, the Field of Lights is an amazing combination of modern art and ancient landscape.

NOTE:
The optional Kings Canyon Rim Walk is challenging. There is a steep porton at the beginning of the walk which requires an acceptable level of fitness. Suitable footwear should be worn. Please speak to your Tour Director if you are unsure of your ability.

NOTE:
Departure May 05, 2023: due to a special event in Uluru, the Sounds of Silence dinner will happen on Day 4, Sunset at the Rock will happen the evening of Day 5, and the visit to the Field of Lights will happen the morning of Day 6.

Day 5

ULURU Rock Stars Rise and shine to see sunrise over Uluru. Later, experience a walk at the 36 unique domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Your afternoon is at leisure. You may wish to take an optional excursion by camel, see Uluru from new heights on a helicopter tour, shop for a special souvenir or relax with a cool drink. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a festive farewell as you enjoy [LF] the Sounds of Silence dinner experience. (B,D)

LOCAL FAVORITE
TASTES & TRADITIONS Your evening begins with canapés and chilled sparkling wine upon a dune top overlooking Uluru. As the sun sets and darkness falls, listen to the sound of a didgeridoo and sit down for an unforgettable dining experience. Enjoy a bush tucker inspired menu along with a selection of Australian wines and beers. Afterward, sit back and listen to a star talker decode the southern night sky. Before the end of the evening, you’ll be able to locate the Southern Cross, signs of the zodiac, the Milky Way as well as planets and galaxies. From amazing scenery to delicious food and wide-open spaces, it’s sure to be a memorable evening!

Day 6

My husband and I took the independent tour of Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto) in May 2023. Everything was great - airport transfer, local guides, and hotels (Hilton Tokyo and Kyoto Century Hotel). We've used Globus before for escorted and independent travel, and they're always the first place we check when making travel plans.

The total ‘exploration’ was excellent.
The issue I have is that when we booked for 2020 and were told that it would be 24 to 28 people with spare seating on the bus for ‘quiet times’ if needed.
In 2023, there were 43 people.
Made the tour director’s job more difficult.
The tour guides had an impossible job. When they pointed out something specific, if you were at the end of the line filing past, the guide was usually pointing to something different at the front of the line.
This resulted in the people at the end of the line asking each other what they were looking at, thereby, being a distraction to the entire group.
Definitely took away from the learning experience.
If you are having large bus groups, I would suggest having more than one guide to break into smaller groups at the tour destinations.
Just a thought.
