Short Description

This is the perfect vacation to see Italy’s highlights—from the historical treasures in Rome and the splendid art in Florence to the picturesque, medieval walled town of San Gimignano and the romantic canals in Venice. On this Italy tour, you’ll of course visit the famous sights on your sightseeing tours, including the Colosseum in Rome, St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, the Sforzesco Castle grounds and museum in Milan, the medieval square in Siena, Juliet’s balcony in Verona, and the Santa Croce Basilica with Michelangelo’s tomb in Florence. You’ll even join a Venetian lagoon cruise to the picturesque fishing village of Burano, known for its bright pastel-colored houses.

But that’s not all…Globus has also arranged special adventures and experiences for you on this Italy tour. For example, learn how Chianti wine is made and even sample some at Verrazzano Castle. In Rome, an expert Local Guide will take you to St. Peter in Chains, the 5th-century church that is home to Michelangelo’s famous Moses statue, commissioned by Pope Julius II in the early 16th century, and a true highlight is a guided visit to the Papal Palace and Barberini Gardens in Castel Gandolfo.

Italy is an amazing country filled with beautiful art, magnificent architecture, extensive history, sumptuous cuisine, fine wines, and friendly people. You’ll experience its splendor on this fabulous vacation highlighting Italy’s most-treasured places. Be sure to pack your camera, because you’ll have plenty of photo opportunities along the way.

Groups are between 25-60 people, typically ~30-40. Usually there will be many opportunities to split off and enjoy meals and excursions in smaller groups. This is the most economical way to travel, saving up to 40% versus booking the same itinerary yourself.

Day 5

FLORENCE. EXCURSION TO SIENA, SAN GIMIGNANO & VERRAZZANO CASTLE. In Siena, admire the impressive medieval walls and walk through ancient, narrow lanes to the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, site of the biannual Palio, Siena’s spectacular medieval-style horse race. Continue through vine-clad hills to hilltop San Gimignano with its medieval houses with towers, visible from far away. Then, the highlight of today: a WINE TASTING of the famous Chianti wine and dinner at Verrazzano Castle before returning to Florence. (B,D)

Day 6

FLORENCE. Meet your Local Guide, and visit the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS with Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Continue your walking tour through the historic center and stand in awe in front of the magnificent cathedral, admire Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistry’s heavy bronze “Gates of Paradise.” Also visit sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE, and the SANTA CROCE BASILICA with the tomb of Michelangelo. We took the Israel Escape tour in late Feb 2020. We choose the tour for the itinerary and cost, and it was simply wonderful! The itinerary ticked almost every box on our wish list, and our tour guide was simply phenomenal. Very comfortable bus and good hotels and meals. We had not been on an organized tour before - we usually plan our own independent travel - but we could never have done as much or with such expert commentary and guidance as this tour. We're hooked - we are planning our next Globus adventure!

Disappointed with Globus 'handling Covid trip cancellations …

I am responding as have other disappointed clients who had their paid vacations cancelled because of the COVID-19 and not received a refund. It is not right how Globus has handled the cancellations. I had booked the Classic California tour with extension to San Diego( May 15-27) for two people $8830.00 A letter of credit is not the solution. Many of Globus clients booked their chosen trip for a particular time. Special arrangements had to be made with an employer, certain budgets maintained, and arrangements made for the care of children, parents, and pets. To afford these vacations we have to be employed. It takes a very long time to afford these trips. It is not right to assume we can use a letter of credit for a future trip and assume the increased expenses that a future trip entails. We were planning for this year! Next year has other responsibilities. I didn't even get back the money for the trip's optional trip nor the flight. I have traveled with Globus many years and was quite disappointed in how they handled this situation. I contacted the company several times about a refund. The letter I received was misleading stating we do not have to take immediate action. The company should have some insurance of their own to handle unfortunates scenarios like COVID, hurricances, civil unrest, etc. to cover losses. Their clients should not be held hostage. Globus cancelled the trip chosen by the client. There was a specific reason to choose the particular trip for that time period. We paid for THAT SPECIFIC TRIP not for some unknown trip in the future. GLOBUS THAT WAS NOT WHY WE PAID YOU.
You did not deliver what we wanted and you don't want to refund! That is STEALING! That is no way to run a business and keep loyal customers.

Worst trip ever!!!!!! Will never travel with Globus again. Don't waste your money on them!! The guide's only interest was eating, she could not answer questions, told us to look it up on the internet, we were more informed on the sights than she was through our preparation pre-trip.

We booked a year in advance trip and communicate to the Corporation of the food allergies. They told me that the cruise Director will help us with the menu choices during the trip in Budapest, Prague and Vienna and the director wasn't helping which we ending using a translation app to help identify food with tree nuts. In addition the tour director will provide notes every morning which were illegible. When returned back to the USA I filed a complaint and it took more than three months to respond. Very dissapointed with customer service.
