Day 5

FLORENCE. EXCURSION TO SIENA, SAN GIMIGNANO & VERRAZZANO CASTLE. In Siena, admire the impressive medieval walls and walk through ancient, narrow lanes to the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, site of the biannual Palio, Siena’s spectacular medieval-style horse race. Continue through vine-clad hills to hilltop San Gimignano with its medieval houses with towers, visible from far away. Then, the highlight of today: a WINE TASTING of the famous Chianti wine and dinner at Verrazzano Castle before returning to Florence. (B,D)

Day 6

FLORENCE. Meet your Local Guide, and visit the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS with Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Continue your walking tour through the historic center and stand in awe in front of the magnificent cathedral, admire Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistry’s heavy bronze “Gates of Paradise.” Also visit sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE, and the SANTA CROCE BASILICA with the tomb of Michelangelo. Afterward, you may wish to shop for Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry, sold by the ounce. This evening is your chance to taste the culinary delights at a fine Tuscan restaurant. (B)

I used this company and Gate 1 in the past few years--I go about 1 week every month so I use a number of companies and also arrange some things on my own. In March I had a trip with Globus to Greece that was cancelled the day I arrived in Athens--the weekend that we closed our borders and if you wanted to get back you had to go to selected airports which meant changing all your return flights both as to days and as to routes. Talk about frustrating in that we were not the only group of people in all of Europe trying to move things around--it just took time. During that time Globus did a couple of small tours and took us out to a very nice restaurant for dinner one night and paid for all of our food at the hotel--breakfast, lunch and dinner--tried to keep us busy and fed. When I got home after 3 days of that I contacted them to find out what would happen with the funds I paid. They asked for a few days to sort things out which was ok with me. In about a week or so they called to say I would be getting 100% of the amount I paid as a credit against my credit card PLUS I was getting 100%, or the same amount as a voucher to use for any trips on any of their companies good until 2021 PLUS a "sorry" voucher for $50---200% plus $50!!! I was certainly surprised and of course VERY PLEASED. I used part of the voucher for a river cruise next June on Avalon, one of their companies and the rest as a deposit on a trip to Morocco. With the river cruise I could not reserve the air portion as the schedules were not out at the time. Once the schedules were out I found a really good flight from Delta but before I used one of my vouchers from other trips cancelled I looked at what Avalon was offering for air with my trip. Avalon had the exact same flights for $500 less (business class seats). I booked with Avalon and was given more time to pay for the flights--I would of had to pay immediately if I booked directly with Delta. Just this week--which gives rise to finally writing this all up--my trip to Morocco in Feb was cancelled. They gave me a number of excellent choices including extra funds if I took a voucher, locking in my price for the tour, etc. AND 100% of my funds returned to my credit card. They said if I wanted the funds it would take like 5 weeks to get the credit as they had a back log that were working through and they apologized for that. I read others that indicate they have issues with the company-- I have none! I understand backlogs in office work esp. now with people working from home etc. They have been above and beyond in terms of customer service with me. In comparison a very similar company Gate 1, who I said I have also used and have a number of vouchers with now, has basically closed up shop until next year--no bookings until April and even if you book a trip the flights they provide are the worst. So, I am going to be using Globus as much as possible for any tours that I can in the future and recommend them strongly to everyone else.

I would give zero stars if allowed. Buyer Beware. Globus is a horrible company that does not honor products that it sells. If you plan to travel them don't book too far in advance and don't bother with their trip insurance it is useless. They did honor anything they said they would when we booked our trip. Be very careful is you use them.

In 2018 - Planned Oberammergau trip

In 2018, I began searching for a tour for Oberammergau. I chanced upon Globus Journeys and decided I will book with them through an agency. But I keep delaying my decision. Finally, when time came to make up my mind the tour that I was interested in, and even their other Oberammergau tours were sold out. I decided to go on my own, creating my own itinerary. I booked a 3-day arrangement directly with Passionspiele. When Covid19 came Passionspiele e-mailed all the booked guests - whether through the agency or those like me who booked individually, that Passion Play is postponed - not cancelled - to 2022 and that guests were given the option either to apply their deposits to 2022 performance or cancel with refund. I opted for a refund and followed their instructions on what to do and abiding by their time frame. Passionspiele began processing refunds April 6th 2020, right after Easter. Soon enough refund went through my cc. I didn’t even make a follow-up. I just waited. The whole thing took about 8 weeks. Now for 2022 performance of the Paasion play I’m looking at Globus again. But reading these reviews turned me off. I may go back to doing my own tour again. I will see how it goes; I will be a 72-year old woman by then and traveling solo. I will wait until I see in reviews if there will be people traveling with Globus.

We were scheduled to take our 4th. tour with Globus on September 15, 2020. Globus canceled our trip (because of covid-19) on July 1, 2020. We notified Globus that we would like a refund on July 8, 2020. Globus indicated that it could take up to 12 weeks to get a refund! Our credit card was refunded in the full amount August 17, 2020. This was 6.5 weeks from when we initiated the process! We would have given Globus a 5 stars if the refund would have been faster!

Put down deposit of $799 on 7/16/2019 for a trip that would have started today,8/16/2020. Trip was cancelled 5/12/2020 due to Covid. Even with insurance which my travel agent told us wouldn't have mattered because Globus cancelled the tour, getting my deposit back was like pulling teeth. After patiently waiting 12 weeks and 2 calls to Globus with no answers on when the refund would be issued ,I escalated it to my Visa card company. I finally have gotten my deposit back. If I ran my business like that I'd be arrested and get dragged into court.....Covid or not there is absolutely no excuse for taking 14 weeks to return my money...I will never book with Globus again ever and advise anyone who will listen don't do it. They had to have their deposit over a year ahead of time but dragged out refunding as long as they could. SCREW THEM ! As someone else said,1 star is to high a rating.

My friend and I booked a trip for April 2020 and had to cancel in early March because of the Covid 19. We immediately contacted the company. We thought we would have insurance for a cancellation regarding serious health concerns. We finally received a letter dated 7/29/2020 stating we would only receive a credit of $4379 that was not redeemable in cash. This has to be used within 2 years of the start date of our cancelled vacation.
Quote from letter: "This travel Certificate may not be used as a credit toward the initial deposit for a future trip, or to purchase the following: Travel Protection, Optional Excursions, Prepaid gratuities or Intsat purchase air."
As of Aug. 13, 2020, Americans cannot travel overseas. Who knows when we will be able to travel again. This certificate might just be worthless.
They at least could have offered to give us a certificate or 1/2 the cash back. We will never use this company again. Be aware of their unethical behavior and read the fine print.
