Day 1 : Deception Valley Lodge

Upon arrival at Maun International Airport you will board onto a connecting flight that will take you straight into Deception Valley Lodge located in the Kalahari where you will be spending the next two evenings. Nothing prepares you for the immensity of the Kalahari Game Reserve, nor it's wild, mysterious beauty. There is the immediate impression of unending space, and having the entire reserve to yourself. Waist-high golden grasses seem to stretch interminably, punctuated by dwarfed trees and scrub bushes. Wide and empty pans appear as vast white stretches of saucer-flat earth, meeting a soft, blue-white sky. At night the stars utterly dominate the land; their brilliance and immediacy are totally arresting.

For anyone who has EGYPT on their bucket list now is the time to go. Tourism and prices are down. We were a little skeptical regarding security and personal safety however that lasted all of about five minutes. From beginning to end all went exactly as planned and expected. Egypt is still suffering the lack of Tourists after the Revolution in 2011 which is a plus for the tourists but a bane for the country as Tourism is roughly 70 per cent of Egypt's Income The people are welcoming and the safety of tourists is first and foremost. Cairo is a big and noisy city having to cope with a population of approx. 22 million people trying to execute the over populated streets. We were able to roam the city on our own with never any worry about safety. Quite the opposite, people were always there with a smile and answers to any questions. The same applied in Alexandria, a very cosmopolitan city and right on the Mediterranean. The new Library in Alexandria is a must visit. Yes, vendors are quite anxious to sell you their wares however, if you are not interested one only has to say, no thank you and they will leave you alone. Most are just grateful that you are visiting their Country. The actual tour was definitely a reflection of Goway's intention that they provide the top ground handling available. And they certainly did just that. Thank you Ameco Travel and our guide in Cairo, Ashraf who isincredibly knowledgable and made everything so relatable and easy to comprehend. Ditto our guide in Alexandria, Al Zahraa. With University Degrees in Egyptology they most certainly did their country proud. For anyone travelling unescorted they should have no trouble locating these guides on the Internet. Have posted their contacts below. The 5 day/4 night cruise from Luxor to Aswan was excellent. The Riverboat, MS Radimus, is relatively new, the cabins a good size and the food terrific. The staff onboard were friendly and there to ensure everything possible was done for ones comfort and well being. With 67 cabins and being only half full everyone was extremely spoiled. Sailing along the Nile, visiting the Temples and making new friends made for a wondrous holiday and we look forward to a return trip in the future. One problem, and it was just that, was we were always scrambling to change larger Egyptian bills for smaller ones. Other than the Pyramisa Hotel in Cairo which has a currency exchange on the premises the other hotels kept very little or no ready cash on hand. Finding banks that would help was much the same. ATM's are readily available however they dispense only large bills as well. One definitely needs plenty of small bills for tipping. Hopefully Goway's clout can help change things for future travellers. We have used Goway in the past and will definitely do so again in the future. Special thanks to the Goway staff members for all their efforts in ensuring all went so well. Hope the above info helps in any plans you may have to travel to Egypt. You will not be disappointed.

This trip surpassed our high expectations and there were so many highlights, it is impossible to mention them all. Our first comments must be about the animals, which was our prime reason to go. Due to our planned itinerary, we saw absolutely everything - the big five, little five, the migration of wildebeest and great herds of gazelle, zebras, impalas, giraffes, etc. And the most beautiful birds! The drivers were phenomenal - knowledgable and able to sight everything! We experienced great travel connections (flights were comfortable and on time, and after experiencing the roads we believe this was the best way to go), exceptional accommodations on safari, wonderful food, service and hospitality. We would highly recommend the Elewana Fly-in Safari in Tanzania for the unique, first class camps and the activities planned at each - sundowners overlooking the Serengheti, bush dinners, walking game drives and the host's sharing of information and experiences. Thank you to Gina at Goway for planning a fabulous trip for us!

My husband and I have just returned from the 14 day East Africa Tour into Kenya and Tanzania. It couldn't have been any better. Our guides David in Kenya, and Wolfugan in Tanzania were both incredible .... knowledgeable and very good at spotting so many animals, even some rarely seen, and certainly The Big Five on several occasions. They were both very nice to spend time with as well. The accommodations were gorgeous. We added a Gorilla Trek up a mountain in Rwanda, an unforgettable experience to be in such close contact with 9 gorillas. Our guide Afrika in Rwanda was also amazing, and went out of his way to take the best possible care of us. Whatever we needed, he was there to help. We will never forget this trip, and will return to Africa soon. Thank you Alexandra and Goway Travel !
