Overview

Highlights (Bullets)

  • Visit the stunning Kornati National Park, the biggest and most incredible collection of islands in the entire Adriatic Sea, once described by playwright George Bernard Shaw as God’s special creation made of 'tears, stars and breath'.
  • Experience the Sea Organ in Zadar, an incredible marriage of acoustical engineering and historical art with a shot of local liqueur as the literal cherry on top.
  • While large cruise liners have to moor out at sea and commute into shore via tender, we drop anchor in the middle of port towns like Hvar or Korcula. You can hop on or off the boat as you please.
  • There’s nothing like diving into the aquamarine waters of the Dalmatian Coast. Weather permitting, our captain will be stopping the ship for regular swim breaks during the trip.
  • This itinerary includes a special detour to Mostar, in Boznia and Herzegovina. It’s not a stop featured on many Croatian coastal tours. You’ll see the town’s iconic bridge and have the chance to see a coffee demonstration followed by a tasting.

Itinerary

Day 1 Venice to Opatija

Bonjourno! This Croatian adventure begins in Italy today at Marco Polo airport in Venice. Meet your group and leader here at 1pm and transfer to Opatija by road. The journey will take approximately three hours, the perfect chance to get to know your fellow travellers or simply soak up stunning scenery. Board your ship in the evening and listen to a safety briefing, then enjoy your first dinner on the Peregrine Dalmatia. Spend the evening at port, perhaps chatting over a drink on the deck.

Day 2 Krk

Depart for Krk in the morning with breakfast and get your first taste of the salty Adriatic with a dip en route. Explore glorious Krk on arrival in a guided tour, marvelling at the ancient architecture that decorates Croatia's largest island. Transfer to a nearby farm in the afternoon and graze on prsut (prosciutto) and taste some local wines. Perhaps you'll find your new favourite drop. As night falls, sit down for a rustic lamb dinner at farm's restaurant.

Day 3 Rab

The ship will depart Krk in the morning and make its way to the island of Rab, which was first declared a city in 10 BC by the Roman Emperor Augustus. Spend the journey relaxing with a book, getting some sun or simply taking in the view of the ocean. Old-world Rab is perfect to explore on foot, and you will do just that with a local guide upon arrival. Later, choose whether you would like to get your blood pumping with a guided three-hour hike around the island or take some time to discover for yourself why Rab is known as the Happy Island.

Day 4 Zadar

Bid farewell to the Happy Island and cruise to Zadar, stopping for an all-important swim along the way. The ship will dock in the late afternoon, then disembark for a guided walk around the stunning Old Town. Finish at the famous Sea Organ, a giant instrument cum artwork with underwater pipes that create music from the waves. Listen to the beautiful and somewhat haunting sounds while you watch a Zadar sunset, once described by by Alfred Hitchcock as the most beautiful in the world. Put that grand staement to the test while watching with a shot of Maraska (cherry liquer) in hand.

Day 5 Kornati National Park - Telascica

A morning departure leaves you with plenty of time to discover the Kornati National Park. Made up of 89 stunning islands, Kornati is the perfect place to while away a day cruising around the beautiful bays, swimming and soaking up some sun. Drop anchor at Telascica Nature park – part of Kornati National Park. Local park rangers will take you on a hike around Telascica’s stunning limestone cliff or, alternatively, there’s the option to explore the bays and inlets by sea kayak if you’d prefer. The ship will anchor in the beautiful bay of Telascica and the crew will cook up a barbecue on deck. Kick back and relax with a cold drink in hand.

Day 6 Sibenik

Cruise to Sibenik, the gateway to the Kornati Islands. The ship will make an all-important swim stop en route and you can stretch those sea legs on arrival with a walking tour, taking in sights such as the World Heritage-listed Cathedral of St James. Built in both a Gothic and Renaissance style over the 15th and 16th centuries, it is truly a spectacular piece of architecture. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy, so perhaps seek out some local seafood and settle in for a laid-back evening at port.

Day 7 Split

Enjoy a morning of cruising and a swim in the sparkling sea. The ship will dock in Split, Croatia’s second-largest city, which is renowned for its ancient buildings and lively culture. Take an optional guided walk around this fabulous town, then perhaps explore Diocletian’s Palace. This sprawling 4th-century complex is in the centre of Split and its white stone walls are home to bars, restaurants, shops and hotels. Join your shipmates on deck for a captain’s dinner this evening.

Day 8 Split

Your day is as clear as the waters of the Adriatic Sea, so spend your time as you wish in gorgeous Split. Maybe take a relaxing stroll along the palm-lined Riva Harbour. This evening, welcome some new travellers to your group at a dinner on board the Peregrine Dalmatia.

Day 9 Split and Krka National Park

After a leisurely breakfast on board, you have the option to join in another guided tour of Split with your tour leaders and the new group members. If you'd prefer, you can explore the laneways and squares on your own and eat lunch at your leisure in one of the Old Town's lovely al fresco eateries. In the afternoon, take a private bus transfer to Krka National Park. Board a small boat and explore via the Krka River, visiting some of the gorgeous waterfalls for which this park is renowned. Afterwards, return by bus to Split, and enjoy dinner on the ship.

Day 10 Hvar

Set sail for the island of Hvar, known as the 'Queen of the Dalmatian Islands'. Enjoy breakfast on board and stop to swim in the waters of the Adriatic at a secluded beach close. Arrive in Stari Grad, the oldest town in Hvar, at around midday and eat lunch on the ship. Take a private transfer to a local honey farm and taste some of this sweet specialty before taking a stroll through nearby lavender fields. Continue to Hvar Town and explore this small but glamorous city on a leader-guided walk. Spend the evening in Stari Grad and experience a quieter side of Hvar. Stari Grad retains much of its ancient charm and lacks the crowds found on other parts of the island.

Day 11 Opuzen

Depart early for Opuzen, enjoying breakfast on board and a mid-morning swim stop. Cruise up the River Neretva, taking in the sight of the steep cliffs that rise on either side of the fjord while you lunch. Arrive in Opuzen in the early afternoon and hop in a small wooden boat for a leisurely cruise through the surrounding wetlands, enjoying some local snacks and music while you glide through the water. Alight at a beautiful local restaurant that looks over the water, and savour the rich flavours of Peka veal and other local dishes. Spend the evening in Opuzen as you wish. Perhaps venture out to one of the friendly bars around the town square to meet the locals over a beer or two.

Day 12 Opuzen and Mostar

Make an early start this morning and transfer to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina by minibus. Take a guided walk through the charming town, visiting a local shop to see a coffee demonstration followed by a tasting. Enjoy some free time to explore the town and be sure to snap some photos of the iconic, arched bridge of Stari Most. Continue to Trpani, alighting and transferring to the Matusko Winery for a tour of the evergreen vineyard and a tasting. Later, enjoy a barbecue on the deck of the Peregrine Dalmatia.

Day 13 Korcula

Enjoy breakfast on board then set sail for Korcula, one of many towns that claims to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Eat lunch on the ship and if time permits stop for your first deep sea swim en route. Once in Korcula, get acquainted with the idyllic streets during a guided walk and then explore at your own pace. Perhaps continue your stroll through the narrow alleyways of the marvellously-preserved Old Town or run your hands over the rough-hewn walls and towers that were built to protect Korcula in the 13th an 14th century. Ask your leader for dinner recommendations, and don’t forget to sample some of the famous local white wines.

Day 14 Dubrovnik

Leave early this morning and cruise to Dubrovnik, stopping mid-morning for a swim near the island of Jakljan. Take your lunch on board before arriving in in the early afternoon. Your leader will take you by local bus to the Old Town, where you can spend the afternoon exploring independently. Lovely Dubrovnik features the terracotta rooves, ancient cliff-built walls and crystal coasts that most people associate with Dalmatia. Return to the ship, in the evening for a four-course farewell dinner with the captain and your travelling companions.

Day 15 Disembark in Dubrovnik

Your small ship adventure cruise along the Dalmatian coast ends after breakfast this morning. Should you require a transfer to Dubrovnik international airport, please enquire with your travel consultant prior to travel or your leader during your trip.

In early 2019 I was dealing with Intrepid and booking my 6th and 7th trip which were paid for before June 2019. Upon return from these trips I booked another trip, my 8th and was off again to Turkey within weeks. At NO time was I informed verbally or via email that their Legends Program was ending and that I would need to book my 9th trip by end of June to receive my loyalty reward of $2200 credit, If I had been informed I could easily have done this.
At the beginning of 2022 I began plans for my next set of trips and contacted them to claim my loyalty reward. That's when I was told about the end of the Legends Loyalty Program. The company does not have a complaints department and so I have had emails replied from 7 different 'sales consultants'
Each time their replies have reiterated the same information. They have not taken responsibility for informing their loyal customers of the impending cessation of the Legends Program. I have contacted Consumer Affairs and been advised that I can pursue this under
section 1: Section 29 of consumer law regarding false and misleading representation of goods and services
2: Section 32: offering rebates, gifts and or prizes

As this was going to be a drawn out affair, in my most recent email, I offered to settle for a credit of $1200 rather than the $2200 they had been promoting for YEARS!!!
Dealing with Intrepid was taking its toll on me and I just wanted it over with. But we were dealing with a David and Goliath situation here. They do not care and have not taken responsibility for lack of transparency in informing their loyal customers of the sudden termination of this Program. I see that many other people are in the same situation. I have had many great trips with Intrepid and had wanted to continue my travels with them. But the principle of the matter will not allow me to continue with them.
I understand that a promotion may be discontinued at some point in time but it should be done in a way that takes into consideration those who have remained loyal... maybe paying a proportion of what a client would have been entitled to. AND they should have made an effort to alert customers about their policy change. As another Loyal Customer stated ...'You could have put a banner across your Intrepid homepage stating the program is ending..."

But no, you kept it quiet and duped your loyal customers. Shame on you!

I have not finished with this! Jump on board if you want to join me in this battle.

Signed up for the Premium Turkey Trip, which is supposed to be higher end hotels and "the best guides". Sadly this was a case of extreme overpromising and underdelivering. Hotels were mixed and some were disgusting. Guide was not familiar with our itinerary, offered little guidance or help, and often gave us incorrect information. I have written and called Intrepid to express my numerous concerns. They have not responded. Very disappointing.

This was my 3rd Intrepid Tour. Unfortunately, my most recent "Premium" Turkey in Depth tour was a big disappointment. It did not measure up to "original" tours of Rajasthan, India or Nepal. These trips were lead by enthusiastic, organized and knowledgeable leaders. Our Premium leader unfortunately showed little passion for his country or it's history. His knowledge of the historical sites was basic only. The leaders ability to communicate with his guests left us wondering what our day would look like and if we would have to Google information to pass on to other members of our group. Late morning starts made for late arrivals at daily destinations and limited time to explore some interesting cities. On multiple occasions and by different guests, suggestions were made to the leader about communication needed by group. Additionally, the sunrise Balloon ride in Cappadocia was canceled. Our group of 9 and another Intrepid tour were instead sent in up after sunrise. Disappointing!

Hello again
Still waiting for my deposit back from Intrepid! Six weeks and counting. It ceases to amaze me that that I felt I could trust them with organising a holiday for me at all in the first instance.
Intrepid Travel is incapable of responding to emails, updating their customers and maintaining good customer relations. They have been very disappointing and have left me extremely upset.
Each time that I complain about them generates a flurry of emails but not any resolutions.
Very poor and extremely unsatisfactory.
Intrepid Travel get your act together.
PS As predicted I got a response from Intrepid to say that the refund was being processed and apologies for the delay. NOT good enough.

On your voyage, as well as the ship and hospitality crew, there will be between 1 and 3 local tour leaders (depending on the total number of passengers). These leaders will be with you on board the ship, and on all included shore activities. They will have good general knowledge of the areas you are passing through including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects, as well as being able to recommend great local eating venues for your on shore meals and what you might like to do with your free time (when you're not relaxing and enjoying the ship's facilities).
