What's this trip about?

Embark on a virtual voyage to the ends of the earth, discovering land and seascapes that beggar belief. From the massive chunks of ice littering Rodefjord’s Iceberg Graveyard to the many coloured mountains of Brogetdal, the sheer rock ravines of Blomsterbugten to Walterhausen Glacier’s 11-km-long ice walls, Greenland is more than simply a land of ice and snow. Visit a traditional Inuit community, inspect ancient Thule ruins weathered by time and scan seas  and skies for marine and bird life. Flying from Reykjavik to Greenland and cruising back eliminates long travel times while allowing you to experience the full gamut of the Arctic experience.

Travel Map
Day 1 Reykjavik
Your adventure begins with an overnight stay in thoroughly-modern Reykjavik, the world’s northernmost capital city.

Day 2 Embarkation day at Constable Point
You’ll fly from Reykjavik to the eastern Greenland destination of Constable Point to begin your expedition. As you sail out to sea, your first wildlife sightings will be seabirds above and whales below. Get ready for a great adventure!

Day 3 Apelfjord
We’ll cruise through spectacular Apelfjord, a wonderland of fjords and sounds, and through a multitude of dazzling icebergs in countless shapes and sizes. The following Optional Activities are available to participate in, on some or all of the departures of this itinera...
Day 4 Brogetdal and Waltershausen Glacier
Brogetdal means “multicolored valley”, and here you’ll view multihued mountains surrounding this lovely basin, and unusual geology. We’ll also journey to the rarely visited Waltershausen Glacier, an imposing ice floe at the head of Nordfjord with a span of 6.8 miles (11 ...
Day 5 Blomsterbugten and Renbugten
The valleys of Blomsterbugten and Renbugten are considered some of the most scenic in Greenland, and delight with unexpected icy blues, brazen golds, fiery reds and mossy greens. These scenic plains will charm you with their panoramic vistas and unusual rock formations. Be sure to be on the lookout for artic hare and musk ox.

Day 6 Antarctic Sund and Ella Oya (Ella Island)
Renowned for its stunning landscapes, the oddly-named Antarctic Sund is a marine channel surrounded by icechoked waters, azure icebergs, and craggy, colorful cliffs. At Ella Oya, a hiker’s paradise, you can challenge yourself with a climb to the top of the island, where you will be well-rewarded for your efforts.

Day 7 Ittoqqortoormiit and Hall Bredning
At the start of the sound, Itoqqortoormiit is East Greenland’s most northerly community and boasts a blend of traditional and modern lifestyles. With clear skies, you’ll have a great opportunity to see the Northern Lights. You can also support local Inuit artisans by pur...
Day 8 Frederiksdal and Sydkapp
Sailing on deeper into Scoresbysund, we’ll cross the border into the largest National Park on earth, and encounter massive icebergs and an ancient Thule settlement as we approach Sydkap. The scenery here is something you can’t even imagine, with towering mountain sides and hundreds of apartment-sized icebergs playing tricks with your sense of perception.

Day 9 Rypefjord and Roderfjord
Pushing onward, your expedition will come to Rypefjord. With binoculars in hand, birders should keep watch for wheatears, snow buntings and ravens. At Rodefjord, you’ll encounter a shallow area trapping hundreds of icebergs, known as the Iceberg Graveyard. You’ll drift leisurely by these icebergs, a photographer’s paradise.

Day 10-11 At Sea
Your homeward journey re-crosses the Denmark Strait, this time on board the ship, giving you some time for whale watching. During our crossings we’ve seen white-beaked dolphins and humpback, sperm, Minke and blue whales. Birders have enjoyed spotting kittiwakes, gannets, guillemots, fulmars and razorbills on our journey back to Iceland.

Day 12 Disembarkation at Akureyri
Your Greenland adventure comes to an end as you enter the northern Icelandic port in Akureyri and board your included flight to Reykjavik. We provide a transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik.

Day 13 Depart Reykjavik
Today, explore the city or fly home. Those spending time in Reykjavik can take in the area’s many must-see attractions, or discover its more hidden gems. Regional highlights include a vibrant downtown and harbor, geothermal parks and beaches, and numerous natural wonders.

It’s been more than 36 years since our first small group set out to discover Nepal. It’s this heritage and our reputation that keeps travellers coming back time and time again.

We appeal to the well-travelled, discerning traveller. The one who chooses value over price, and wants to immerse themselves in a place instead of just ticking landmarks off a bucket list. The type of person who would rather stay in a family run B&B built in a 16th century Venetian convent than a forgettable hotel. We’re for travellers who want inclusions along the way instead of fiddling around for loose change.

Almost 20 years ago, Peregrine led an industry revolution by solely employing locally born leaders. This innovative approach gives our travellers a deeper insight into the countries they visit. Doorways are opened and a true understanding of the place is fostered.

At Peregrine, we travel in intimate groups and take the time to get under the skin of a destination. Of course we all want to see the Taj Mahal in India. But imagine then heading to a remote Rajasthani village and learning about rural life while in the company of locals. Seeing the famous sites is a must, but it’s often the memory of wandering through a small village or sharing dinner with a local family that will leave a lasting impact.

We promise to share our knowledge and expertise with you, and ensure you will come home with stories you will tell for years to come.

Why we love this operator
Since their founding in 1977 by trekkers exploring Nepal, they’ve maintained a strong connection to local culture and the “traveler spirit”.
What they’re known for
Immersive experiences that prioritize value, authenticity and adventure over luxury touches for older travelers.

Your voyage fare includes Emergency Evacuation Insurance to a maximum benefit of US$100,000 per person. However, it is essential that you have comprehensive personal travel insurance in addition to this to cover all other eventualities.
