Day 1; Depart New York
Your once-in-a-lifetime journey “Around the World” begins today with an overnight flight to the United Kingdom.
Day 2: Arrive in London
Meals: Dinner
After meeting your driver and guide at London Heathrow airport, we’ll take a panoramic tour of London’s famed landmarks, architecture and historic sites. Our nonstop procession of “must-sees” includes the Houses of Parliament, Elizabeth’s Tower (Big Ben), Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Nelson’s Column, Marble March, and more. After hotel check-in and a short rest, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel – Islington (or similar)
Day 3: London
Meals: Breakfast
Today is a free day to sample the delights of London on your own. Make sure you use your included round-trip River Thames Cruise from Westminster Pier to Tower Pier. This stretch between Tower Bridge and Westminster Abbey is one of the most recognizable in the world. You’ll pass under eight bridges and see sights, like the Tower of London, London Eye and the Shard, from a fresh perspective.
Day 4: London/Cairo
Meals: Breakfast
On our way to a midday flight, we’ll drop by Windsor Castle, which most recently captured the world’s imagination as the venue for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We’ll admire the palatial home of over 40 monarchs before catching our flight to Egypt, where we’ll be met by a representative who will assist with customs and formalities before transferring to our hotel. Cairo Marriott Hotel (or similar)
Day 5: Cairo
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Today we explore the splendors of Egypt on a half-day tour that takes us to the wondrous Great Pyramid and the Sphinx of Giza, which famously combines a reclining lion with the head of an Egyptian king. We’ll gain insights into the magnitude of their creation before seeing another example of Egyptian construction at the Solar Barge Museum. Ancient Egyptians buried a “solar barge” near the pharaoh’s tomb to help transport the ruler into the afterlife. See the meticulously restored and assembled barge at this glass-enclosed museum. After lunching like the Egyptians do at a local restaurant, you’ll have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 6: Cairo
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Our stop in Cairo wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Egyptian Museum, home to over 120,000 artifacts that showcase the arc of Egypt’s amazing history. See mummies, jewelry, sarcophagi and the treasures of King Tut. This evening enjoy a dinner with your group before heading to your next destination!
Day 7: Depart Cairo
Meals: Breakfast
Take the morning to relax or explore before transferring to the airport for an overnight flight to Thailand.
Day 8: Arrive in Bangkok
Meals: Breakfast
Welcome to Thailand, the “Land of Smiles.” After arrival, we’ll be met at the airport by our Thai tour director and escorted to our hotel for breakfast. Embark on a morning orientation tour of Bangkok which includes a drive around the Rattanakosin Island historic district of Bangkok. Flanked by the Chao Phraya River to the west, you’ll have the chance to peek at the tops of famous temples and shrines, and see historic sites of Bangkok. On your tour you’ll stop and walk around Bangkok’s Chinatown and the Flower Market. This area is home to one of the most dynamic and vibrant commercial districts in Bangkok. From fruit stands and local eateries to shops and flowers, there’s only a few places in Bangkok that can match its level of energy and vibrancy. At the conclusion of our tour, return to the hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure. Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Bangkok (or similar)
Day 9: Bangkok
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
After breakfast, we’ll tour some of Bangkok’s most impressive Buddhist temples. Marvel at the five-ton solid gold statue of Buddha at Wat Trimitr and the colossal 150-foot-long reclining Buddha at Wat Po. We’ll also stop at the White Marble Temple, one of the finest examples of Thai architecture. Spend the afternoon at your leisure or hop aboard an optional canal boat ride across the river for a glimpse of daily Thai life. (See Optional Tours for details.) Enjoy a dinner with your Around the World group this evening.
Day 10: Bangkok
Meals: Breakfast
Bangkok beckons with a feast for the senses. Here’s your chance to sample its sights, sounds and flavors on your own. Your Tour Director will offer plenty of ideas, but we strongly recommend that you don’t miss a chance to see the world-famous floating market by long-tailed boat. See Optional Tours for more info.
Day 11: Bangkok/Bali
Meals: Breakfast
Your Around the World adventure continues to exotic, spiritual Bali. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and provide the transfer to our resort in Ubud, considered the cultural heart of Bali. Ubud Village Hotel at Monkey Forest or ARMA Museum & Resort (or similar)
Day 12: Ubud, Bali
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
A full day of sightseeing in beautiful Bali awaits! Our itinerary starts with a performance of the Barong and Keris Dance, a traditional Balinese dance narrating the fight between good and evil. We’ll continue to Taman Ayun Temple, which translates as “beautiful garden.” This landmark features traditional architecture and, of course, gardens with lotus and fish ponds. Our next stop is the Pura Tanah Lot, the Sea Temple, perched precariously on a rocky outcrop and only accessible during low tide. After lunch in a local restaurant, we’ll explore Goa Gajah, (aka Elephant Cave), a manmade grotto of archaeological and religious significance. We’ll descend into the courtyard to view carvings of mythical creatures, fountains, bathing pools and meditation areas. The evening is at your leisure.
Day 13: Ubud, Bali
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Now that we’re more than halfway through our trip around the world, it’s time to stop and smell the flowers…and herbs! We’ll visit the Jamu Organic Remedy Workshop, learning about Indonesian traditional medicine (known as “Jamu”) while taking a nature walk with a local farmer, who will help you select herbs to make your own organic body mask, oil and scrub. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll view traditional and modern Balinese artwork at the Museum Puri Lukisa and visit Ubud Palace, where the royal family still lives. We’ll have time to wander the grounds and see traditional buildings embellished with stone carvings, including work by Bali’s most well-known artist, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad.
Day 14: Depart Bali
Meals: Breakfast
Enjoy the resort’s pool and spa amenities or just relax before departing on an overnight flight to Sydney. The more adventurous won’t want to miss the chance to go white-water rafting on the Aung River. See Optional Tours for details.
Day 15: Bali/Sydney
Meals: Lunch
Ah, spectacular Sydney! After meeting our local Tour Director, we’ll take off for an introductory city tour. We’ll see the famous Bondi Beach and stroll along its promenade, as well as see some of the city’s neighborhoods like the exclusive eastern suburbs, historic Paddington and The Rocks, which offers a glimpse into Sydney’s past. We’ll stop at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, hand-carved out of rock by convicts in 1810, for spectacular photo ops of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the celebrated Opera House. Like what you see? We’ll have the chance to experience the harbor firsthand on a lunch cruise featuring a seafood buffet. After you check in to your hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure. PARKROYAL Darling Harbour (or similar
Day 16: Sydney
Meals: Breakfast
Meet Australia’s fabled fauna at Featherdale Wildlife Park, home to one of Australia’s most comprehensive collections of native wildlife. Prepare to utterly be charmed by the adorable koala or take the opportunity to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 17: Sydney
Meals: Breakfast
With Sydney at your doorstep, how will you spend a free day? See our Optional Tours for to check out details about our adrenaline-filled BridgeClimb Sydney tour.
Day 18: Sydney/Fiji
Meals: Breakfast
Today we depart for Fiji, the sixth and final destination on our Around the World trip. Our airport “meet and greet” includes a traditional shell lei before we’re whisked off to our resort for a warm Fijian welcome. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy. DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji (or similar)
Day 19: Fiji
Meals: Breakfast
We’ll see (and taste!) nature at its peak beauty as we venture into Fiji’s heartland, through the beautiful Sabeto Valley, to the lush Garden of the Sleeping Giant, home of more than 2,000 different kinds of orchids. We’ll continue to Viseisei Village, the oldest settlement in Fiji, and Vuda Point, to view handicraft displays and marvel at the panoramic vistas of mountains, Nadi Bay and the Yasawa islands. Before returning to our resort, we’ll refresh ourselves with tropical fruit juice drink and seasonal fruit from orchids while relaxing in a traditional Fijian bure (wood-and-straw hut). The evening is at your leisure.
Day 20: Fiji

Enjoy the opportunity to relax and enjoy this idyllic location. We’ll join our fellow Around the World travelers for dinner tonight to share stories and toast our unforgettable adventures.

Egypt tour was great
Reliable, good value
We had a wonderful tour guide Dave who…
Ireland was more beautiful than we imagined it would be.
In March 2023 we took a SmarTours…
Our guide was named Madani and he shared so much about the lives of his people and their rich history. We traveled in comfort and stayed in amazing hotels in six different cities. We went on daily adventures that I never knew were possible. This was not what I call a "vacation", but rather "educational traveling". Every day I learned...every day I experienced this exciting country and culture...and best of all...every day I smiled.
Our first adventure with SmarTours was to Peru. That adventure got us hooked on this company, because we realized how much of the world, we knew nothing of, but could learn about with SmarTours.
Live for today...because tomorrow is not promised
Just Say No!
On Feb 3, 2021 SmarTours sent me an email confirming my $300 credit for future travel. For three people that’s a total of $900. On May 15, 2023, Theresa Meyer, Co-President emailed me to use my credit and “to invite me to travel with us again.”
I responded to the invitation and offered a creative, Win Win solution, please use our $900 to book a day tour for us with one of their business partners. Theresa ultimately responded, “Unfortunately this is not something we can do. All of our partners are B2B and do not directly work with customers on individual day tours or excursions. It sounds like the best bet would be to transfer your credits to someone who is interested in going on one of our full trips. You may all transfer your credits to anyone you like. If they book their own airfare independently, we have several trips that come in under $2000 per person, inclusive of guide, entrance fees, hotels and transportation, covering anywhere from 7 to 13 days. Which is an incredible value. We do not offer any tours for only $300 or $900.”
Well I thought SmarTours was a business that used business partners which is B2B. In the time she took to craft that response she could have gone on Viator, GetYourGuide, or TripAdvisor to book a day tour for us.
I do not recommend using this tour company.
