Grand Circle Cruise Line

I am a 12 time traveler with Grand Circle and OAT. But maybe no more. They are impossible to reach by phone without waiting for hours. I even tired their emergency phone number and was on hold for hours. What if I had been stranded in a foreign country? They cancelled my Eastern Europe to Black Sea Cruise in Sept 2021 and cited "covid" or "civil unrest" issues. Baloney. They cancelled because they did not sell out the cruise and lied about it to me. I know because I went with Viking during the same month with no excuses like Grand Circle gave me. Add to that they promised me a $1,000 credit on my next trip- which was to Antarctica in December. The invoice they sent me showed the credit- and 1 month later a new invoice arrived with the credit removed. Why? Another lie? Something is really wrong here with the company now and I would suggest be very careful with bookings as they are not the same company I traveled with for the past 12 years.

A great trip, we really enjoyed it a lot.

The Places covered by the trip were full of historical facts worthy of remembering till the last days of our lives!,,,, Our Travel Director, RENE BAUER , is super knowledgeable in what he did to all the travelers in his group, aside from his being smart and good looking,,We are looking forward for more travels with Grand Circle and OAT !!! Every Moment Was Memorable

This was a fantastic experience. The question is where to go on my next trip.

Most Memorable Moment:
In Amsterdam, at the Chocolate store, with the many samples of candy and the machines with the levers (one lever used to break up the candy for sampling, the other for dispensing my purchase).

It's difficult to explain what a great trip this is because each city holds surprises unique to itself. Our Program Directors were very knowledgeable and complimented each other well. We did the post trip, If you haven't been to Prague, go!

Most Memorable Moment:
Too many to mention, one in each city we stopped in. Overall, the three that stuck out were our home hosted visit, the Christmas markets and the trip to Terezin.

All of the staff were wonderfully friendly and professional. Old Town tours were informative and fun plus time to do your own exploring.

Everything was great. Good friendly service. The waiters and many crew members all call passengers by name. Food was delicious and well presented. The wine and beer flowed freely. Cabins were well maintained with chocolates on the pillows nightly.

GCT always has the best tour guides.
This was our seventh trip with Grand Circle and Overseas Adventure Travel with no complaints with any of them. This cannot be said about other companies with which we have traveled.
There was plenty of cabin storage space and the beds were comfortable. Only the lighting over the desk/vanity was not conducive for applying make-up.
My only regret is they don’t go to all the destinations we would like to travel to.

This was a great trip. Appreciated the cabin amenities upon arrival. The food, the entertainment, the discovery and learning, and the friendliness of the crew was absolutely outstanding.

Was part of Crew Show

Weather was a factor, grey skies and cooler temperatures than expected. Tour guide Michaela was superb, and worked very hard to make the journey as good as possible. Cabins were small, but clean and comfortable. Was a little annoyed about getting a refill of wine at lunch and dinner (rationing?).

Vienna anytime

We had a great time. We had one of the friendliest and capable captains on the River Aria. He made the trip very exciting. Had a wonderful room at the Hotel Regina on the post trip. It was right in the center of Vienna. Very convenient. Our trip director, Amir, made this a wonderful trip. We loved riding the electric bikes from the ship.

We would have loved a pre-trip in Amsterdam. We did have a day there so were able to see the Van Gogh Museum but a few days in a pretrip would have been great.

The 60 locks were really something. The captain and crew did a great job. Never had so many locks on one trip. The tallest was 60 or 70 feet.

Melk Abbey was more than I anticipated.

The Opera House in Vienna was grand and breathtaking.
Each city had its own high points, all of which we enjoyed.

Walking through Germany from the top deck of the River Aria. Daytime had so many views, but nighttime was truly memorable.

It was an excellent trip. A strong educational component with lots of discoveries. The day time sailing was particularly enjoyable.

Most Memorable Moment:
The most memorable was the stop at Soldiers' Field and what it represents. It was a little unsettling but an important part of the trip and its historical significance. I am sure there are other memorable moments but this one stands for me.

very caring ships crew. did everything possible to accommodate and please passengers.

too fast paced for me. would like a more leasurely itinerary. while meals were very good and an abundace of food, would prefer a trip with breakfast and some dinners with the option to eat locally.
