Idaho’s un-dammed Salmon River is one of the jewels of America’s Wild and Scenic River system. A prime spot for whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing trips, as well as hiking and mountain biking trips alongside it, the Salmon runs 425 miles through the rugged central part of the state. The best known sections are the Middle Fork and Main Fork, which flow through the deep canyons of the River of No Return wilderness. A number of tour operators run rafting trips.
