It was an interesting and well-led journey. However, the pace was torrid, and could have been relieved by adding a couple of days. I would gladly have traded Greno...

What to Look for in Monaco Tour Reviews

Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.

Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.

Monaco is a short train ride (25 minutes) away from Nice, France, making it a great destination for a day trip or overnight. Many reviewers love that this independent city-state sits on the coast, with gorgeous scenery overlooking the Mediterranean.

Year round, you’re likely to get pretty good weather, temperature rise, with winter lows in the 50’s, and warmer months such as July and August peaking around 80 degrees.

Monaco is a popular destination with millionaires, so be prepared to see Bentleys and bimmers driving around. Monaco is best to be explored by foot, as you walk through the streets filled with high-end shopping, and gardens. The city itself is entirely walkable, spanning a little under four miles, so feel free to take a walk and tell everyone you’ve walked across a country!

People are always dressed well, and some of the attractions, including Casino Monte Carlo, have dress codes, so make sure not to show up underdressed. While the idea of the city is highlighted by the casinos and the gambling, it’s still a worthwhile visit if you’re not a big gambler. The casino itself is filled with great restaurants and architecture, so much that in the mid-morning to early afternoon, the casino is open for tours, before the gambling starts.

Some travelers have mentioned that Monaco is best for people who have a lot of money, who are just looking to spend it. People also say that Monaco is very glam, so there isn’t that “authentic” factor that some people look for when traveling. It’s still worth visiting, for the cute streets, for the gorgeous views, and for a one-of-a-kind visit to the famous Casino Monte Carlo. Even if you only make it a day trip, it’s convenient location from Nice makes it an easy trip. Hotels can be pretty pricey, so for those who are looking to save money, the day trip from Nice is a nice option.

There are some pretty incredible attractions in Monaco, include succulent botanical gardens with plants brought in from the Southern Hemisphere. The aquarium homes sharks and turtles from Africa, with a mix of history offered, and a top deck with views of the sea.

Summer time is a busy time to visit, especially if you go at the end of May when the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most prestigious automobile races across the globe, is happening. The Grand Prix is a common reason why people decide to visit Monaco, so this may be of interest if you’re into cars and racing. If you’re there outside of when the Grand Prix is happening, map the route that the cars drive and feel the thrill that the drivers feel while racing through Monaco.
