What's this trip about?

Experience the best of Colombia over 11 days with this superb introduction to four very different parts of the country. Your journey begins in Bogota, Colombia’s capital and cultural hub. A 3-course dinner welcomes you to Colombia on your first night, followed by a full-day tour to acquaint you with Bogota, old and new. Explore historic La Candelaria, admire the portly creations of Colombia’s most beloved artist at the Botero Museum, and go wide-eyed at the wonders of arguably the world’s best gold museum. Last, but not least, visit one of Colombia’s undisputed treasures, Zipaquirá Salt Mine. Your next stop is Chicamocha National Park. Let big city pressures slip away as you admire the park’s namesake canyon, which is deeper than the Grand Canyon. A cable car allows you to descend to the canyon’s floor, then climb to the opposite rim for another great view in just 30 minutes. Then, enjoy a half-day coffee experience at Café Alfania plantations, just outside the town of Barichara. You’re sure to come away with an all-new appreciation for your morning cup. A hike to the Guane colonial village completes your stay in this region of Colombia. Medellin is the city that keeps going from strength to strength. With its dangerous days behind it, Medellin is now a must-see while visiting Colombia, as rejuvenated neighbourhoods nurture artists, one of the country’s best food scenes, and a hopping nightlife. Wander between the sculptures of Botero Plaza, ride the city’s revolutionary cable car system, and visit Comuna 13 to understand how Medellin transformed from one of the world’s most violent cities to one of South America’s most progressive and admired. Spanish, African, and indigenous influences all come together in colourful Cartagena. A walking tour will show you why this is one of the world’s favourite Caribbean cities. Cartagena has survived piracy, the Inquisition, and in more recent times, gentrification to remain a Colombian treasure. A visit to the Museum of Cartagena will help bring the city’s past to life as you explore its streets, fortifications, and local neighbourhoods such as Getsemani. With an extra day at leisure here, you might take a day trip out to the Rosario Islands for more Caribbean bliss, take a half-day trip for a healthy soak in the mud of Totumo volcano, or try your hand at local specialties with a cooking class. Your visit ends with a delicious 3-course meal at an upscale local restaurant.
