This was an excellent trip in terms of itinerary. Wonderful Maya sites, exciting caves, cenote swim etc. Our guide was excellent in her suggestions as to additional activities , eating etc. and went out of her way to organize additional activities. The only down point was the public transport from Belize which did not even guarantee a seat leaving a possible 10 hour standing bus ride. Otherwise transport was excellent. Good value.

My trip with Intrepid was the first time I had ever travelled independently, so I was naturally a little nervous and unsure of what to expect. The tour as a whole and our tour leader, Sofia, were amazing and I had a fantastic time. The particular programme (Best of Guatemala and Mexico) was a lovely mix of adventure, activities and relaxation. Sofi was friendly, approachable and fun but also knowledgeable and very professional when it came to the serious stuff. Travelling with a group is a great way to make new friends and share the experiences, but it also made me feel safe and comfortable when travelling in very different countries to what I am used to.

GREAT trip. not so great some of the hotels. worst hotels - in Flores and china hotel in belize. one without aircon in 40+ deg heat other simply dirty with question if bed shet were changed lately...

The cost of the meals etc. was markedly more than the suggested costs such that the trip cost much more than expected.

The tour was well organised and sofi was a legendary. Really warm and friendly and make it seem more like a family trip with good friends. Excellent recommendations on things to do and place to eat and drink. Went above and beyond call of duty. 11/10 expert cat herder!

The trip gave me a good chance to experience the attractions and integral parts of culture that are on offer in this part of Central America

The tour leader, Carlos Oropeza was the icing on the cake. His enthusiasm and professionalism made the trip all worth while despite some misgivings I had on the trip.

In general the trip was good, the guide was very good, he lead a diverse group of people successfully, and provided good insight information for us to use it when doing our own private activities, however, it seemed to us that Intrepid doesn't check the hotels before contracting them out, for instance, the room that we had in Casa Blanca, San Ignacio, Belize it was in the very low end of our expectations, not only because in spite of the hot weather there was no a/c but even opening the window, there was no way that air will get to the room. Some of our trip mates didn't sleep all night because of the heat. we knew we were not going to expect 3 or 4 starts hotels but that one was 0.5 star. _x000D_
I would recommend that if you don't have personnel in the area have your guide check your hotels, instead of basing your selection decision on information over the internet. _x000D_
By the way, the hotel in Flores was great, above our expectations, good break! but it was kind of chocking going from that level of hotel to the one in San Ignacio. _x000D_
The other aspect it's the transportation, we (as per smart suggestion of our group leader) contracted out a van to transport us a portion of the trip instead of using public transport, please include it in your fee, it'd work much better.

The high score received is wholly down to the fantastic leadership from our guide, Juan Pablo Grotewold. He was very friendly and approachable, and I feel his number one goal was to help us get the best experience from the trip possible. Everywhere we went, he had great recommendations on where to eat, and what excursions/activities where available to us, which took any stress or decisiveness out of the equation. He directed us in a timely manner, in terms of where to be and when for our travel arrangements, which again made life very easy. We were able to spend our time enjoying our vacation, and not worrying about the logistics. I still can’t believe how much we were able to fit in into 2 weeks! The reason I gave the trip a rating of 4, not 5, was that I was disappointed at the lack of air-conditioning in San Ignacio and Playa Del Carmen. In San Ignacio we had to pay $20 a night for a/c in our room. I thought $40 extra (we stayed there 2 nights) was a little much, but I was at least grateful to have the option, even though it was a little annoying for it to not be included in the room. The hotel in Playa Del Carmen was lovely – clean, nice pool and very friendly staff… however it was incredibly hot and humid and the option of a/c would have made a big difference to my comfort. I can stand the heat and humidity all day and all evenings but it would have been extremely nice to have had a break from it for just a few hours at night. I didn’t sleep a wink in Playa Del Carmen because of the heat and lack of a/c. If we had stayed there any longer I would have had to book into another hotel. I was actually happy to be leaving Mexico for that reason, and that’s not the best way to be ending a holiday.

Excellent trip, however I feel there could have been a bit more personalised info available before the trip

This is the second trip we have done with intrepid and have been very happy with the organization and flow of the trip. Nothing is ever perfect but I cant think of a reason why I wouldn't suggest it to someone else

Great trip but some of the accommodation was really poor.
