Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips for those travelling internationally. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. If you are travelling within your home country or region please confirm before travel that you are entitled to access the public medical system easily should an accident occur. We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international trips, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number has been sighted by your group leader or local representative. If you have credit card insurance your group leader or local representative will require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details prior to arriving in-country. For travellers who reside within the European Union, Switzerland or USA the requirement to purchase travel insurance cannot be compulsory. However the purchase of travel insurance is still highly recommended, and travellers from these regions who decline travel insurance when travelling outside of their home region must sign a Travel Insurance Waiver Form at the Group Meeting, recognizing personal responsibility for emergency medical and repatriation costs should they arise. PASSPORT You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date. We need your passport information to get everything ready for your trip so it’s important that the information on your booking matches your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends. VISAS & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your trip and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. You can check the entry requirements for your nationality on your government's foreign travel advisories, consular websites or on our page here:  www.intrepidtravel.com/visa-entry-requirements ENTRY AND EXIT FEES You may be required to pay a fee when entering or exiting a country, particularly if travelling via a land border crossing. Your leader will assist you with the process at the border. The below country-specific information was correct at the time of writing; however, please visit the relevant consular websites of the countries you’re visiting for up-to-date information. HONDURAS - BRITISH PASSPORT HOLDERS Visa requirements for British passport holders travelling to Honduras have recently changed. Please follow the link above for more information. HONDURAS VISA APPLICATIONS FOR UK PASSPORT HOLDERS You will be provided with a Hotel List in a Visa Support Letter to assist you in applying for your visa. This is the primary document you should use to apply for your visa as they are issued by our local office in Costa Rica. If you will be crossing into Honduras more than once during your trip, you will need to apply for a multiple entry visa. Please check your itinerary carefully. Hotel List - this will be sent to you by Intrepid or your travel agent at the time of booking. If you do not receive this, email us with your booking number and trip details. Please note this hotel list is indicative of the hotels used on trip only, subject to changes. Please refer to your booking confirmation and the Essential Trip Information for the actual joining and finishing hotels of the trip. HONDURAS If you enter Honduras overland, there is a US$3 entry processing fee. EL SALVADOR If you enter El Salvador overland, you are required to purchase a Tourist Card for USD 12. If you exit El Salvador overland, there is a USD 0.50 departure tax. NICARAGUA Travellers are required to supply a copy of their passport bio page to their booking agent no later than 15 days prior to departure. Travellers who by profession are human rights or political activists, journalists, academics or members of the clergy may be denied entry to Nicaragua at the border. We advise all travellers to verify whether they can meet Nicaragua's entry requirements prior to travel by contacting their local consulate or embassy. If you enter Nicaragua by air, you must purchase a Tourist Card for USD 10. If you enter Nicaragua overland, you must pay a USD 3 processing fee in addition to the Tourist Card fee. If you exit Nicaragua overland, there is a USD 4 departure tax. If you exit by air, a departure tax of USD 35 is normally included in the cost of your ticket. Drones and night-vision capable binoculars are banned in Nicaragua. If you try to enter the country with these items they will be confiscated at customs. Professional grade/high quality photography equipment, videography equipment, and binoculars may be subject to inspection or seizure by the Nicaraguan customs authorities.  COSTA RICA There is no entry fee. If you exit Costa Rica overland, there is a US$9 departure tax. If you exit Costa Rica by air, departure tax typically included in the cost of your ticket. PROOF OF EXIT FROM COSTA RICA To enter Costa Rica travellers must show proof of intent to exit the country to immigration authorities. Since this trip exits Costa Rica via a land border crossing as part of your itinerary, Intrepid can prepare and send you an Intent to Exit Letter with your trip's details. Please request this letter from your booking agent. PANAMA If you enter or exit Panama overland, officially there are no entry or exit fees, however you may be faced with an unofficial fee of US$4 each way.
