Editor’s Take
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.
Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
Travelers who left positive reviews of their tours of Slovakia really enjoyed the opportunities to get out and explore the beautiful scenery of the countryside. Since Slovakia has such a diverse and beautiful landscape, going on a tour that not only includes major cities, but also rural areas of Slovakia like the Tatra Mountains, was the favorite amongst reviewers.
Slovakia is generally included in tours or cruises of Central Europe. Travelers should be aware that on these types of tours you won’t be spending as much time in Slovakia as you may expect since you will also be touring multiple other countries in a short amount of time.
Cycling tours of Slovakia are one of the best ways to see the country. Cycling tours generally begin in Vienna or Budapest and wind their way through the countryside or near the Danube River. Some reviewers were a little disappointed that they were not always biking next to the river.
Considering the Danube stretches across 10 countries, there won’t always be a path right next to the river and you will have to bike through the meadows and smaller villages, which are just as beautiful.
With biking tours of Slovakia, you will be on your bike for long periods of time. Due to weather, high waters, or other unforeseen factors, your tour may have to detour which could mean a longer cycling day than expected. As most cycling tours are offered in the warmer months, you should be prepared to bike through very high temperatures, so preparing for this is extremely important.
If you are on a tour that includes Slovakia and nearby countries, it’s important to remember that you may have some long traveling days. Many of the cities are fairly close together, but you may have to be on a bus or cycling longer than you think, which means you may miss some opening hours for museums. Taking advantage of any free time before you leave a city or when you arrive is highly recommended so you can see as much as you can.
