The intricately carved Temples of Angkor are Cambodia’s main draw, but elsewhere in the country you’ll find vibrant minority villages and great swathes of wilderness. Our Southeast Asia specialists have visited Cambodia time and time again, meeting knowledgeable guides and seeking out comfortable beds in sublime locations. Aiming to take you beyond the obvious, our specialists can build a tailor-made itinerary to help you make the most of your Cambodia holiday. Gradually reclaimed by jungle over hundreds of years, Angkor’s temples still retain their mystery and we can point you toward some of the smaller, lesser-visited sites. French colonists have left behind a legacy of European-style villas and baroque-influenced gardens, best seen along the boulevards of Phnom Penh. To the northeast, the hills and forests shelter wild elephants and mighty waterfalls, as well as resilient minority peoples. To the south you can soak up the relaxed atmosphere of sleepy coastal towns and enjoy the local delicacy, crab.

Highlights

Cambodia's rich culture and complex history provide plenty of things to see and do with the renowned temples of Angkor being the country's top attraction. The mystical Ta Phrom is a highlight and best visited at dawn as the rising sun illuminates the jungle-covered temple ruins. Elsewhere, the floating villages on Lake Tonle Sap provide a glimpse into a highly traditional way of life, while the country’s capital, Phnom Penh, sheds light on the brutality of Cambodia's years under the Khmer Rouge. For a more uplifting experience, visit during the annual Water Festival that takes place on the city’s riverfront, with boat races, food stalls and fireworks creating a lively atmosphere.

Phnom Penh Tour Selection Trips

  • Phnom Penh is often the first stop in a vist to Cambodia, and a great place to learn about the country's background. Take advantage of visiting the National Musem for an expansive in depth look at Cambodian history, both ancient and modern.
  • The Killing Fields are a very tough place to visit for many. Don't worry if you're not up to it. Many tours in Cambodia that visit the site do offer alternatives for those not wishing to visit.
  • Be aware of scams. While Cambodian's are famously friendly and kind, it is still easy to run into less than honest operations. Particularly because tourism is such a big source of income.
  • The dollar is accepted widely throughout Cambodia, though know that you may receive change in Cambodian currency.
