Itinerary
Make your acquaintance with Baku, Azerbaijan's audacious and ambitious capital. With plans afoot for construction of the world's tallest building, this is certainly a country on the move. Visit Ateshgah Fire Temple, the medieval Mardakan Fortress and Yanar Dag Fire Mountain for a glimpse into the past from which this intriguing country has come.
Stop off at the bubbling mud volcanos en route to the brooding Caucasus Mountains. Admire the shrine of Diri Baba and Yeddi Gumbez Tomb, then marvel at the exquisite interior decorations of Sheki Khan’s Palace.
Welcome to Georgia, one of Europe's most regal, yet largely unexplored, destinations. Begin by observing the fine architecture of Tbilisi, and perhaps climb to the top of Narikala Fortress for commanding views over the surrounding hillsides.
Another day, another glorious set of hillside scenery. Take in stunning mountain ranges and deep valleys along the Georgian Military Highway, the one-time trade highway between Georgia and Russia. Pop into the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of Mtskheta, where the robe of Jesus Christ is reportedly buried.
Get a dose of Georgian history in Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin and location of the 3000-year-old Uplistsikhe cave city. Enjoy a guided walk around the ruins of Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi before sampling Georgian life on an overnight local family homestay.
Venture further into Georgia's interior to Akhaltsikhe, the site of the magnificent natural grottoes.
Explore the intricate tunnels and caves of Vardzia's rock wall monasteries, hewn from the cliffs of Erusheti Mountain. Cross the border into Armenia.
Visit the atmospheric church of Mastara while on a city tour of Gyumri. Then travel on to the seventh-century cathedral in Talin before making tracks to Yerevan.
Discover all angles of Yerevan on a walking tour. Then there's ample time to explore on your own terms - there are plenty of great monuments and museums to discover and some wonderful people-watching to be had.
Ever been in a place that has been home to human settlements since the Stone Age? We'll today's the day! Explore the medieval town of Gorsis and the mountainous scenery and rocky outcrops of surrounding Tatev. Don't miss visiting the fascinating stone pyramids of Old Kores.
Make tracks back to Yerevan via the stunning Geghard Monastery, a World Heritage site that's carved into a mountain. Then visit the pagan temple of Garni before arriving in Armenia's capital, where there's one last night to soak in the atmosphere of this wonderful town. Perhaps get the group together for a final dinner meal of delicious local cuisine.

Tour Operator
It’s been more than 36 years since our first small group set out to discover Nepal. It’s this heritage and our reputation that keeps travellers coming back time and time again.
We appeal to the well-travelled, discerning traveller. The one who chooses value over price, and wants to immerse themselves in a place instead of just ticking landmarks off a bucket list. The type of person who would rather stay in a family run B&B built in a 16th century Venetian convent than a forgettable hotel. We’re for travellers who want inclusions along the way instead of fiddling around for loose change.
Almost 20 years ago, Peregrine led an industry revolution by solely employing locally born leaders. This innovative approach gives our travellers a deeper insight into the countries they visit. Doorways are opened and a true understanding of the place is fostered.
At Peregrine, we travel in intimate groups and take the time to get under the skin of a destination. Of course we all want to see the Taj Mahal in India. But imagine then heading to a remote Rajasthani village and learning about rural life while in the company of locals. Seeing the famous sites is a must, but it’s often the memory of wandering through a small village or sharing dinner with a local family that will leave a lasting impact.
We promise to share our knowledge and expertise with you, and ensure you will come home with stories you will tell for years to come.

Meals introduction
While travelling with us you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. On our camping trips we often cook the region's specialities so you don't miss out. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.

Style descriptions
Comfort is your style of travel if you want the whole grassroots experience with more inclusions, meals and creature comforts. While accommodation is predominantly tourist class (3-4 star), on some itineraries there is the opportunity to stay with a local family, spend the night on a train or camp out in exotic places (without putting up your own tent of course). Along the way, you'll really experience the destination up close. You'll mingle with locals, enjoy a taste of their way of life and gain special insights from your leader. This is not luxury travel, but real world experiences - just with a softer landing!
