I am a regular cruiser but I am using this line for the first time.
Been on 10+ cruises.
Yes they are definitely limited on entertainment but I was cruising for some rest and peace and quiet.
So it really depends on what you want.
I found the food excellent, healthy and great options and not just cans and packets but they took the time to actually cook and please their customers. Low sugar no sugar veg options the works.
The staff plain excellent!
Best I’ve seen on any cruise ship and I’ve done about 5 different cruise lines including princess royal carribean Cunard and HAl.
Now why am I giving them such poor marks?
I settled my bill and disembarked a day early.
After I had left they charged me AGAIN in absentia for an even larger amount on the same credit card.
Mistakes happen fair enough.
BUT
Since them I have written six emails not including separate stressful emails to my credit card Amex as they have made me go over my limit and are presently ruining my credit.
They send me responses showing they have no clue of what I’m talking about and cannot simply take the trouble to check that they have charged me TWICE once on the 21april and again on the 22april.
How difficult can that be ?and anyway how can you authorise my card without my signature.
HAL Kindly refund my money with an apology and adequate compensation for the gross inconvenience.

Just returned from an Alaskan cruise on Koningsdam,where to start ?Getting through the boarding routine was absolutely horrendous,with other ship’s passengers mixing together causing utter confusion.The food in The Dining Room was always cold,served on cold plates. Lost count of times we complained and sent food back. Suffered several upset stomachs.Friends purchased a drinks package only to be told on the first night that the wine they wanted had run out causing great upset and disappointment.Not to mention the problem they had cancelling the package.Smoking was aloud in the Casino which made the surrounding areas smell like an old ashtray,smoking was aloud in other areas as well so it was difficult to get away from the smell. Towards the end of the week other things started running out which was unacceptable. Had a conversation with another passenger who said they had been on an excursion which returned at 21.00 only to find the restaurants had finished serving and the only food available was a pizza.Disgusting.Some of the staff tried to be helpful without success,but the cabin boys couldn’t do enough for you and went above and beyond whenever asked.At one port we called at we encountered a protest against the cruise liners stopping at the ports going up to Alaska as the majority of the shops are owned by the shipping companies which take business away from locals causing the hardships in the winter months.To sum it up all the Holland America ships are money making machines. I’m sure they would charge you for the air we breathe if they could. Will not be recommending them to anyone let alone travelling with them again.

I have been on Royal and Carnival, the best experiences ever. Holland was awful, when checking in to get on the boat, they lost my booking and it took over an hour for them to find me in the system. This seem to be the trend because there was quite a few people standing there at the desk while they were trying to find theirs also. We did not have air conditioning in our room for the first couple of days, when we asked about getting another room we were told that they were booked to capacity-no where to move us, no one ever fixed the air in the room. After my roommate’s face swelled up and her eye swelled shut and one of our group members finding upper management we were finally moved to another room. During this time we had talked to guest services everyday, he was aware that my roommate is a 70 yr old woman with health issues and I am disabled with health issues. From the room being so hot, my whole body swelled up and I was hardly able to move during this trip without hurting. While speaking with the guest service manager, he told me he would not charge my credit card on file for onboard expenses to compensate for this situation. I spoke with the guest service manager again the night before we were going to port in the morning to make sure we were still on the same page about this situation, he reassured me that he had it all noted and he would take care of it himself. So that was December 22, 2022, today is May 19, 2023 and I am still trying to get the management to rectify the situation like they said they would. So far, they have been nothing but rude when I can get them to respond and when they do respond they tell me they sent us flowers

Last year my daughter traveled with ACIS and, from a parent’s perspective, I could not have been happier with the process. She had a wonderful time-saw so many things as they made their way from England to France to Germany and made some tremendous friends along the way. What impressed me the most was how easy and comfortable ACIS made us through the whole process. We always knew what to expect, had all of our questions answered in a prompt manner, and never for a moment felt uncertain as we sent our daughter away to another continent. I was also impressed with how all of the hotels were in the city centers of their destinations. For example, her hotel in Paris was just a couple blocks from the Arc de Triompfe-that allowed them to see so much more.

Great hotels, restaurants and tour managers.
Hotels are centrally located, restaurants served local food and TM Jo was amazing.
Fantastic support throughout the trip, before departure and during travel.
Students really enjoyed the cultural connections of cheese tasting in Normandy and Cezanne workshop in Aix-en-Provence.
Liz Rees is great to work with, extremely helpful and very responsive! She thoroughly helped me create a fantastic custom itinerary!

ACIS is the best! I have traveled with them on multiple occasions and they take care of everything start to finish. Whether it’s meal planning for travelers with allergies, or hotel requests, they always go out of their way to make sure travelers’ needs are met. One of the many benefits of traveling with ACIS is that they put you up in high quality hotels right near the city center. As opposed to being on the outskirts of town in a potentially risky area, you are always placed in an urban center within walking distance of cultural destinations and places to eat. If you are thinking of traveling by yourself or with a group, ACIS is definitely the right choice. There is something for nearly everyone, and you know what you’re getting from the very beginning. You’ll never get surprised by an additional charge for something that should be included in the first place, it’s all laid out for you in the itinerary. I can’t wait to travel with them again soon!

Diarrhea, vomiting and Covid..,,we hit the trifecta on our May 2023 Baltic cruise ….the ship was a floating Petri dish of virus….this was our second cruise on HAL that Covid was an issue….we self isolated with our sickness and did not contact the ship doctor….we are 3 star and should be 4 star by the end of the cruise….would not recommend HAL, but are stuck with them because of our Mariner status…in addition they were not flexible with our “have it all package “when we could not experience the two Pinnacle dinners due to our illnesses …we needed a doctors note for a credit…so to spread the “viral love” we are going to the Tamarind the last night….the HAL service desk supervisor is a moron, why she would not issue a credit because of illness is a mystery. She is must be part of the HAL sales prevention team.

Afgelopen week hebben we een cruisereis gemaakt met Holland American Line. Was een reis van Barcelona naar Amsterdam.
Op zich prima reis en heel beleefde en hulpzame medewerkers.
2 zaken waren vervelend:
- een dag dan te voren werd een aanleghaven gecanceld. Gevolg 2 dagen achter elkaar de hele dag op zee. Met de laatste dag op zee waren het dus 3 zeedagen in een week. Kan gebeuren maar het gaat om de arrogantie hoe dit opgelegd is zonder enige compensatie of tegemoetkoming (ook al was het een drankje!).
2 we hebben voor 3 personen een pakket gekocht inclusief WiFi. Blijkt dat slechts 2 personen recht hebben op WiFi. Ook dit werd zo opgelegd…

Holland America's entertainment for our Alaskan cruise on the Eurodam was BORING. They need more entertainment options!!! Also, my wallet was taken out of my room the day before the cruise ended. All my credit cards, money and drivers license, gone. Thank God I had a passport with me. Guest services didn't blink an eye when i reported it. I enjoyed the places we went and Glacier bay was breathtaking. The staff tagged us well, aside from the stolen wallet. I would recommend finding a different cruise line that goes to glacier bay and book that.

My husband and I just returned from an Alaskan cruise with Holland America on the Eurodam and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff helpful and friendly. The entertainment was great, we especially enjoyed the BB King jazz show. Ivan and Holil were the two men that cleaned and stocked our stateroom, they were friendly, always smiling and did a great job. We liked them so much we asked to take their picture. We highly recommend Holland America and will definitely use them for our next cruise. Thank you Holland America for a memorable experience.

I just returned two weeks ago from our absolutely amazing trip with ACIS to Greece and Rome. It was the "Greeks & Romans" tour. Tom, in Boston was great with all of the planning for the trip and answering questions during the planning and recruiting process. From the moment that we arrived in Athens, our Tour Manager, Anna, took great care of our group. She went above and beyond for us. She took the time to explain everything that we would be doing and always talked to me and my Assistant Group Leaders about any decisions that needed to be made.
I have taken several other trips with other tour companies, and ACIS has been the best experience I've had. I will never go back to another tour company. I brought 35 students, 5 parents, and 3 other chaperones. This was the largest group that I've ever brought and I can't believe how smoothly everything went.
I'm already starting to plan for my next trip, hopefully in April of 2025. Thank you, ACIS!

was half jaar geleden met de Rotterdam op cruise geweest, en naar Noorwegen alles super ,maar prijs drank schandalig, en zou btw terug krijgen, en tipgeld automatisch eraf zou ik terug krijgen moest even mailen, nou nu half jaar verder,9 mnd eigenlijk, hoor niets geen mail terug ook meerdere keren gebeld ( MINIMAAL WACHTTIJD 2 UUR ) dan ja is druk en verwerkingstijd 6 tot 8 weken voor antwoord mail ?? Nu echter 9 mnd verder nog steeds geen geld terug of fatsoenlijk antwoord,schandalig schande voor zo,n groot bedrijf. En mail gestuurd elke maand vanaf november, en niets terug gehad. Zo groot bedrijf en de BTW is van taxfree aankopen ,steken ze dat allemaal in eigen zak, maal zoveel personen, of ben ik toevallig de enige?

I have reached out to the cruise line on numerous occasions to ask why they only had gluten free food on the ship for 1 day and my trip was 7 days. I asked prior to booking if they could accommodate my allergy to gluten. I informed them that I have Celiac Disease and I had to have gluten free options. I was informed that they were able to accommodate me. When I did see a few options I was told they had none, even though the box of products was displayed in the buffet. I told them it was our 25 th anniversary and they sent us cupcakes that were not gluten free. Luckily I called down to ask and they said NO. I asked what they thought I was going to eat for the other 6 days. We were on Nieuw Amsterdam 7 day Western Caribbean. I was offered $50.00 as compensation. We took our trip in November and kept trying to get a resolution till February.
