: Day 8 - Art, Culture + Life in Bhutan

At the National Institute, you’ll meet students learning and preserving Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts – like wood carving, painting and embroidery. Then visit Dechen Phodrang, a monastic school that hums with the Buddhist recitations of its young students. Join locals at the market and see the immense seated-Buddha statue at Kuensel Phodrang. Ascending on horseback and by foot, you’ll have ample opportunity to behold and photograph Taktsang Lhakhang – the spectacular Tiger’s Nest Monastery that’s perched on a granite cliff 3,000 feet above the valley. Along the way, you can hoist a prayer flag for health and good luck. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest shrines, before returning to your hotel. Meals B+L+D
