What travelers are saying

"I did the EBC trek with Intrepid in September and October. Our group missed the first 3 days of the planned 12 day trek due to bad weather. There was a real fear we would not be able to do the trek at all. Intrepid sorted out additional accommodation and flights once we were able to fly. Our group made it to EBC by missing the 2 acclimation days on the accent and descending in 3 days instead of 4. This was only possible because of the awesome staff (guides and porters) employed by Intrepid and by Intrepid's backroom staff making alternative accommodation and flight arrangements for us."

What travelers are saying

"This was the first organized tour my husband and I have ever joined, so we were not sure what to expect , but it turned out to be the best vacation we've ever had. The scenery and food were amazing. We stayed in beautiful hotels. Most of the riding was on paved bike paths so we hardly ever had to deal with car traffic. Our leaders, Andrea and Martin, were funny, informative , and so helpful. We are already planning to go back to Italy with VBT this summer."

What travelers are saying

"The trip was absolutely incredible! As an Aussie, I was excited to explore parts of my own country I hadn’t visited before, and it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. I learned so much, particularly about First Nations culture, which was a major highlight for me. Some activities that I initially didn’t expect to enjoy ended up being surprisingly memorable. For instance, I’ve always disliked art classes because of my perfectionist tendencies, but the included Aboriginal art class ended up being one of the standout moments of the trip. If you’re considering this trip, my advice is to go in with an open mind. Push yourself to try new things—you’re unlikely to get another opportunity like this—but also remember to pace yourself. It’s just as important to schedule downtime to rest and recharge so you can fully enjoy the experience. The people in my Contiki group were absolutely amazing, which added so much to the trip. I do wish there were more days spent in Byron Bay, or even an alternative trip focused more on beachy, nature-based destinations rather than city stops—but both aspects of the itinerary had their own appeal. This trip is also fantastic for giving you a sense of which places you’d like to revisit and spend more time exploring in the future. A special shoutout to our trip manager, who was phenomenal and really elevated the whole experience. Her knowledge of plants, history, and culture gave me a deeper appreciation for the places we visited, which made the journey even more meaningful. She was very organised and told us exactly what we needed to know in little amounts so that it wasn't information overload. Overall, it was an unforgettable adventure, and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!"

What travelers are saying

"We returned from our 13-day East African Explorer trip two weeks ago. The trip fully met our expectations. Everything was well organized, accommodations and food were excellent, safari drives were great. Our driver/guide in Kenya, Gitonga (aka Anderson) was excellent and enthusiastic. Based on our experience I can confidently say we will book another trip with SITA in the near future."

Chile Tour Selection Trips

  • With Chile’s many options for nature lovers, consider your physical limitations. If you want a more relaxing tour, look for tours with fewer physical demands.
  • Take the guess work out of finding Santiago's best food spots with an epicurean tour.
  • For treks in Patagonia, do not wait until the trip to test your outdoor gear. You don’t want any unpleasant surprises!
  • Looking to be wined and dined? Many tours offer excursions to Elqui Valley for wine and pisco tastings.
  • Dress in layers, because the climate can vary widely from day to night and from North to South.
  • Remember that Chile is south of the equator, and therefore the season are likely the opposite of your own

Additional details

Common Chile Guided Tour Lengths

Thanks to a superior transit system within this region of South America, tours to Chile can include several areas of the country in one go, whether you have one week or four. To get a solid feel for the country and its remarkable geography and fascinating culture, it’s wise to at least plan for ten days at a minimum. That said, if you have two to four weeks open on your calendar, you will certainly be able to fill it here!

Physical Requirements for Chile Guided Tours

Depending on your goals for your Chile guided tour, your physical fitness requirements may vary. Of course, if you’re planning to tackle many miles of trekking in Torres del Paine National Park or sandboarding in the Atacama Desert, you’ll be most comfortable if you are a regular exerciser back home.

Less physically demanding activities abound, however, and are suitable for those who are comfortable walking for a couple hours each day. This might include walking along Valparaiso’s cobblestone alleyways, zooming up to the summit of Santiago’s Cerro San Cristobal Hill by cable car and boating in to view the San Rafael Glacier.

Top Chile Destinations

In a country this vast and varied, Chile guided tours are a valuable way to take it all in … or at least as much as your time allows. Look for tours that include many of the following: Torres del Paine National Park, San Pedro de Atacama, Santiago, the vineyards of Colchagua and Millahue Valley, the Vina del Mar coastline and, if time allows, Easter Island.
