People along tour were great, airline and guest relations support worst I have ever experienced October 2022

We have a few lovely cruises with Holland America, but getting ahold of someone pre or post cruise has always meant at least 20 minutes on hold.
We had a cruise scheduled during Covid and decided to use it as credit towards a future cruise. We got far less for that cruise than we were expecting.
Our two week "adventure" had us spending the first week on riverboat, in Denali national park and a glass covered train from Denali to Anchorage. They were beautiful.
Holland had scheduled a flight from Anchorage to Seattle to board the Eurodam, only the flight had been cancelled without notifying US. We had confirmation numbers for a non existent flight!
There was no way to get from Anchorage to Seattle in time to pick up the Eurodam and no way to get through the phone tree at Holland to figure out what to do, so we ended up booking our own flight to get to Juneau to pick up the next leg of the cruise. Finally got ahold of somebody who knew something, who was able to book a hotel in order to wait for the boat.
Except in the 2 days waiting for the boat, we picked up Covid. Holland America's policy is well stated that if you pick up the disease on their tours, you don't pay for the rest of the trip and they get you back home, quarantining as required. Well, they got us back home, but we're still waiting for the cruise money back.
And getting ahold of anyone in Guestrelations has been impossible. I have sent 3 e-mails and spent 2 hours on hold waiting to talk to a person to no avail. Eventually, after 2 hours 30 minutes on hold, the connection just dropped.
For the record, it's not as if we went out and did something stupid to get Covid - we know of two other Holland America customers who basically ALSO got stuck in Anchorage, also got Covid and are also trying to resolve things with Holland through the horrible horrible phone tree.
Certainly until they pay us back for the trip from Anchorage to Juneau and then pay us for the Eurodam cruise that we missed out on because they screwed up the flight bookings, we're not going to cruise with them again, and we're going to continue to tell people what they are like to work with on the phone.

Would Not use this HAL again,
Ship very tired, guest services very bad, on board activities bad, theatre seating very uncomfortable, food just about ok if you like chicken, 2 pianos competing with one arm bandits, excursions very expensive, they have renamed the BB king lounge to Rock & Roll bar without changing signage on ship.
On our recent cruise holiday with Holland America we had this experience when flying home…..
On weds 14th, Vueling ( BA carriers ) sent us an email saying our flight home was cancelled ( Friday 16th 10.50 BCN to LGW ) said they would send us another email with new flight details - of which we never received.
Still waiting for reply from HAL

We recently booked a 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise with Holland America for next March with family and we’re really looking forward to it. 2-3 weeks after booking, we received an email saying our cruise itinerary had been “updated”. Updated was an understatement as Holland America had cancelled our cruise completely and rebooked us on a completely different cruise going to different destinations with less stops a day earlier. Not only is this not what we expected, we just simply wouldn’t have booked this new cruise at all. We called to cancel and after 3 calls, they still refuse to refund us our deposit even though they are the ones who completely changed our vacation without our consent.

Took a cruise from Seattle to Alaska. The crew was super friendly and hard working. They seemed to really care about our comfort. Food was great in the dining room, excellent service. Buffet was good but I got a little tired of the same choices every day. Wish they had more entertainment, evenings were boring. Most of the offerings were “promotional” like buying their crap or paying for painting classes, whiskey tasting, overpriced spa treatments, etc. I was expecting actual shows. I was really excited to see Victoria, BC but the port was from 8-11:30 pm—- so much for seeing the gardens.

De Rotterdam is een geweldig mooi schip, cabin wat aan de klei ne kant 7007 geen ramp.
Wij hebben al met diverse rederijen gecruised, maar vonden deze service bij de HAL aan de matige kant. Organisatie in het Lido restaurant kan wel beter, je moet soms drie keer heer lopen voor een geroosterd broodje en heel veel in de rij staan ( wordt alles koud) wat ook al koud opgediend werd, hier personeel drie keer op aangesproken. Wel jammer.
Bij het van board gaan en douane controle lange rijen, en vaak op stopping door dat mensen zowel heen als terug door de zelfde gangen moesten. Wel jammer.
Bij het tenderen waren ook hier logistiek nog wel wat problemen, netjes gevraagd toen we aan de wal waren maar kreeg geen antwoord , Wel jammer.
Misschien lijkt het op zeuren , maar we hebben er best veel geld voor betaald, en als souvenir covid alle vier na testen thuis .
Nou ja heel jammer, misschien toch een andere rederij, de HAL die trouwens ook zeer moeilijk te bereiken is heeft mij teleurgesteld
Wel jammer, ook jammer voor de HAL veel klachten gehoord van mede passagiers....... jammer.....jammer ......nu maar weer drie jaar sparen

Customer support is niet al te best. Een email wordt standaard beantwoord met de mededeling dat behandeling een maand kan duren. Telefonisch slecht bereikbaar. Lijnen overbelast of een bandje dat de wachttijd ' minder is dan 30 minuten'. Vergeet het maar. Ik hing na 75 minuten nog in de wacht. Contact via Twitter werkt sneller maar die medewerkers kunnen niets anders doen dan hun excuses aanbieden en toch weer doorverwijzen naar de telefoon of de mail. Een online boeking resulteert in een enorm aantal emails. Iedere email bevat attachments met informatie en, om het nog ingewikkelder te maken, een link naar nog meer informatie. De informatie wijzigt iedere paar dagen. Geen Covid test nodig, dan toch weer wel en nu twee dagen voor vertrek weer niet. Ik ben volledig de weg kwijt.

Totaal onbereikbaar via telefoon of email. En een chaos aan emails met updates, tegenstrijdige informatie.
Sturen doodleuk een reply op je email dat het 4 weken!!! kan duren voordat je een reactie krijgt op je email. En dat je moet bellen; maar als je belt naar de "hotline" sta je minimaal 2 uur in de wacht en de vraag is of die wel wordt opgenomen?
Nog nooit zo'n slechte ervaring met een cruiseline gehad.

The food in the dining room was not good, set to long before serving, standard coffee was bitter, and room service was lacking We ordered lobster Benedict the lobster was dry and no Hollandaise sauce, my wife ordered fresh orange juice and it wasn’t included.
We had members or an organization that meet on a Daly basis with the meeting referred to in activities and the was never unlocked for us.
We needed to get off the ship to go to the airport at 6 a.m and was told the no one could help us with our luggage and I am handicapped was it was very difficult, I has to ask another passenger that we met for help. The ports were nice but I will never cruise with them again. This is our 8th cruise and we will never go with Holland America again

I will never go on a Holland-america cruise ship again. It was the worst experience of my life! None of the crue members speak any english and they all start acting flirtatious towards the passengers. They all act like they own the ship so they can do whatever they want, including harassing the guests and getting away with it. Never again will I take a Holland-america cruise line in my life! Entire staff on board are a bunch of hooligans!

Het CCP pakket zou nog te koop zijn na boeking. 140 min aan de telefoon gehangen blijkt dat niet zo te zijn. Absoluut klantonvriendelijk. Eerder een cruise gemaakt, was geweldig, nu maar geannuleerd. Niet meer de HAL die het was.

Took a 10 day Alaska Cruisetour on the Nordam. I had a billing issue while on the ship. None of the customer service agents spoke good enough English to get the issue handled on the ship. Impossible to get through to their customer service on the telephone once I got home. I was on hold over 2 hours twice and never got through to a person. Finally gave up. I won’t cruise on Holland America again.

Mijn vrouw en schoonvader hebben een prachtige reis geboekt. Ze hebben er 3 jaar voor gespaard en speciaal voor de gelegenheid een speciale kamer voor op de boot bovenaan geboekt via Cruise Travel. Bij het boeken is er nog achteraan gebeld om er voor te zorgen dat ze ook daadwerkelijk die kamer zouden krijgen.
Een weekje voordat ze weg gaan vernemen ze ineens dat ze een compleet andere kamer krijgen aan de zijkant, juist dat wilden ze voorkomen. Cruise Travel zegt wij kunnen er niets aan doen en Holland America is niet bereikbaar. Waardeloos, dit moet niet mogen

Wat een geweldige ervaring hebben wij gehad met de 8-daagse fjordencruise met de ms Rotterdam. Fantastisch mooi schip, uitstekend eten en vriendelijk personeel. De totale cruise was uitstekend geregeld.
Wij herkennen niets van de negatieve reacties die we hier tegenkomen. Ja, zo'n cruise kost geld en onderweg doet HAL er alles aan om iets te verdienen. Daar is het dan ook een ( amerikaans ) bedrijf voor. Maar je bent er zelf bij en kan er voor kiezen om ergens gebruik van te maken....of niet. Het is wel aan te raden om je van te voren goed te laten informeren waar je aan toe bent en wat je kan verwachten om verrassingen te voorkomen.
Wij heben de afgelopen week i.i.g.een uitstekende vakantie gehad.

If you have a workout routine such as HIIT this cruise line is. It for you. Seems it’s for the old and grumpy. They always have stuff in the gym like facial classes and stuff that doesn’t belong so there’s never a spot to do your own thing. When you can it’s great but not often. I was working out in the only free spot I could find and I got told I couldn’t because the captain said no jumping because his office is below! Are you kidding me! Maybe they shouldn’t put the gym above his office or maybe he sucks it up for 30 minutes! I couldn’t believe it. Crazy, we will not be doing any more cruises with holland america. There are plenty of others that go through Europe.
