One of the worlds most recognizable landmarks, the Colosseum has a history dating back to the year 80 AD. The impressive structure is the largest amphitheater every build, estimated by historians to have held up to 80,000 spectators. Damaged overtime from earthquakes, it's still possible to feel transported back in time as you walk among its columns and stands. One can almost see the ghosts of a theatrical performance taking place, or a spectacular (if bloody) gladiator battle. Most Italy tours, and certainly tours to Rome would be remiss to leave the Colosseum off their itinerary.
