Itinerary
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Vancouver. On arrival in Vancouver make your way to your accommodation and overnight in the city.
Make your way out to the airport this afternoon for your flight up to the Yukon. On arrival into Whitehorse, collect your hire car and make your way to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to relax.
Depart Whitehorse and take the drive north to Mayo. Enjoy the amazing scenery throughout.
Spend the morning exploring the fascinating former silver mining towns of Mayo and nearby Keno. Here you will see how life was lived in the early decades of the 20th century, with quirky wooden houses, rusting historic cars and implements, all set amongst lovely mountain scenery. This afternoon, continue your drive north to Dawson City.
Enjoy a full day exploring historic Dawson City. As you wander the wooden sidewalks and view lop-sided wooden cabins you will be able to soak up the tangible gold rush atmosphere that still lingers here. In the evening you may wish to visit the Palace Grand theatre or try your luck at Diamond Tooth Gertie's Gambling Hall.
Leaving Dawson City behind drive west through stunning scenery of the Top of the World Highway. The route takes you into Alaska for a short spell before re-entering Canada for your overnight stay at Beaver Creek.
Drive south today on the Alaska Highway to the little town of Haines Junction. En route you will pass huge Kluane Lake and the Ruby Mountains. The afternoon is free to explore Haines Junction.
Enjoy a full day to discover the magnificent scenery of Kluane National Park. The park is home to Canada's highest mountains and a plethora of wildlife. There are some superb walking trails but other activities are available, including light aircraft flights over the mountains.
Today your route takes you south into British Columbia and then to Haines, back in Alaska. You may wish to stop at beautiful Dezadeash Lake and the little settlements of Klukshu and Porcupine. There is time this afternoon to wander around the art and craft shops in Haines.
Board the ferry across the Lynn Canal from Haines to Skagway. This is a wonderfully scenic journey and whales and eagles are frequently seen.
Spend a day exploring the historic town of Skagway, made famous during the gold rush of the 1890s. Today you can stroll around the old wooden buildings, visit a saloon or a dance hall or explore the eclectic selection of shops. Alternatively you may wish to take an optional trip on the scenic Yukon and White Pass Railroad.
Your route today takes you over the dramatic White Pass as you leave Alaska behind and enter back into Canada. Continue on to Marsh Lake, your destination for the next three nights.
Enjoy a day relaxing at lovely Marsh Lake. The sparkling blue lakes in southern Yukon provide a picture postcard backdrop to activities such as fishing, canoeing, mountain biking, walking or looking for wildlife. Moose are frequently seen and birdlife is abundant.
Spend another full day relaxing at Marsh Lake. You may wish to try more activities, explore the area, or simply relax by the lake with a book.
Drive north, back to Whitehorse, to drop off your hire car at Whitehorse Airport prior to boarding your flight back to Vancouver. Spend another night in this vibrant city.
Enjoy a last morning in Vancouver then make your way to the airport for your onward flight.
Arrive home today to complete your journey.
