The village is home to roughly 6,000 people, most of whom identify as Kaqchikel, one of the indigenous Maya peoples of the midwestern highlands in Guatemala. Though Spanish is widely understood, the most common language spoken in the village is Kaqchikel. After lunch, take a guided tour around the small town to learn more about the traditions of the local people. Taste tortillas and black beans, a typical meal in the village.
