Arrive at the airport, pick up your rental car, and make your way to picturesque Lisbon! Start your Portugese adventure by navigating through the maze-like streets of Alfama, Lisbon's oldest district.

Take a ride on the iconic Tram 28, where you'll pass through the city's historic neighborhoods, streets, and hills while aboard a train dating back to the 1930s!

Day 2: Lisbon

Spend an entire day discovering the sights and secrets of Lisbon today! Head to the historic district of Belem, where ancient monuments and extravagant castles await. Discover the cloisters and stone carvings of Jeronimos Monastery, then wind down at the picturesque gardens. Be sure to stop by Antiga Confeitaria de Belem, the rumored birthplace of the Portuguese egg tart!

Take a walk along the waterfront to Belem Tower, a symbol of the city which boasts a blend of architectural influences from Moorish to Venetian.

Day 3: Lisbon

Continue exploring Lisbon today, or hop in your car and take a day trip to Sintra, about a 30-minute drive away. Discover the fairytale-like Pena Palace, enjoy sweeping views of the city at the Castle of the Moors, then discover the city's Moorish history at the Palace of Sintra.

Day 4: Lisbon - Coimbra

After breakfast, begin your journey north to Coimbra, a former home of the King of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own, exploring this ancient city!

Tonight you may want to experience the city's famous twist on Portugal's popular musical style, Fado; in Coimbra the haunting melodies are sung only by men.

This morning, depart Coimbra and drive approximately 80 miles to Porto. Start your adventure off in one of Porto's most famous and oldest districts: Ribiera. Make your way through the narrow streets, stopping at the many shops and cafes along the way!

Along the banks you'll pass by dozens of old Rabelo boats, loaded with Port Wine cellars - treat yourself to a ride on one, sipping wine while coasting along the river Douro!

Day 7: Porto

Start your day off with a stroll through the picturesque Crystal Palace Gardens. Located at the highest part of the city, this royal garden provides visitors with sweeping views of Porto from above.

After, you may want to pay a visit to the modern artworks housed at the Serralves Museum, or admire the architecture of (or catch an opera) at the Casa di Musica.

Spend your last evening in Porto in the vibrant downtown area, sipping on locally-produces wines, dancing the night away at one of the many clubs, or enjoying some live music alongside a crowd of locals.

I have never experienced such a load of BS from any company like Great Value Vacations. I absolutely abhor their customer service, refund policy, price jacking and refusal to refund the totally paid trip insurance. I am willing to join a class action suit against this unprofessional and greedy corporation. I will NOT let this drop!!!!

I am around 100’s and 100’s of people everyday at work . So when it comes to my vacation I just want some peace and quiet.
Some me time.
So I prefer to embark on adventures by myself . However as a solo traveler I just can’t fathom the fairness of how pricing is calculated. Same date same trip cost $1174 per person if you travel in pair for a total of $2348 . I would pay $2089 if I travel solo. So I would have to pay an additional $915 per person.. for the same trip... because I am by choice a solo traveler. The pairs total price is $259 more than mine ... for 2 people.
Now that’s an expensive bed that I’m paying for just to sit there untouched.
Fair or unfair ?

Do not ever book with this company. I booked a trip with my family in January to travel to Ireland in October. The merchant cancelled the trip due to COVID-19. When I requested a refund, they refused stating that they are giving travel credit instead. Who knows what the world will be like? What if I don't feel comfortable traveling anymore? My son will also be over 2 by the time we can use the travel credit so he will need his own airline seat rather then sitting on my lap.
They should be refunding my money due to the fact that I am not receiving what I paid for through no fault of my own.
I even called the Irish Consulate who told me that although Americans can travel to Ireland, they will need to quarantine for 2 weeks upon arrival. This doesn't make any sense to do since our trip was only scheduled to be a week long, and traveling all over Ireland (which they wont let you do either. you need to stay in one place).
I am sure that travel restrictions like these will remain in place for some time. The travel credit doesn't make sense. During a time when people are struggling financially, $2,000 would help tremendously with other things.
Give us our money back.

Great Value Vacations forced us to travel during a pandemic on 3/14/20 and instead of staying 8 nights we only stayed 2 nights due to the pandemic, Upon return we realized on their website on 3/14/20 they were allowing other customers to rebook their vacation eff 3/15/20 and didn’t allow us the same option, Their offer was unacceptable and all we wanted was to redo our vacation!

In February we booked a trip for my husband and myself to Ireland for October, 2020, naively assuming that the coronavirus threat would be over by then. Like most of these other complainants, we also purchased travel insurance (TripMate). As the date of our trip approached, I realized that the trip would probably be impossible. The Irish Government travel website stated that, although US citizens are allowed into Ireland, they are required to self-isolate in one designated place for 2 weeks. Our scheduled trip was only 1 week long!

No problem, I thought, that should be covered under the quarantine clause of our contract with TripMate that states that our trip cost will be reimbursed if one or both of the travelers is quarantined. Long story short, after applying for a reimbursement, we were denied. Then I discover that GVV has already cancelled the October trip, but still TripMate won't reimburse our money.

I understand that travel companies are struggling through these difficult times, but I'm sure that the vendors who work with GVV have reimbursed them. $2000 is not a little amount to us. Some companies do the right and ethical thing by reimbursing their clients. I hope those companies will stay in business. As for Great Values Vacations, I will never do business with them again. Some companies deserve to go out of business, and GVV and TripMates are two of these.

Absolutely avoid this company! As well as American Tours International as this is their parent/sister company. If they cancel your trip for any reason, you will not get your money back even if you purchased the trip insurance! Doesn’t matter if they are the ones that cancel your trip - still not getting your money back. Our original trip was cancelled due to Covid and we were told we had to use our trip credit within 6 months. We did rebook in an effort to not lose $6,000 and the trip was beyond disappointing since we missed out on so many things we would have done if everything wasn’t still shut down due to Covid restrictions. 6 months is an absolutely ridiculous timeframe to require someone to reschedule when the world is in a pandemic!!! We rebooked with the Northern California tour which included in the description San Fran, Sonoma, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite National Park.
Our hotel is Sonoma was terrible and the toilet didn’t even work in our room and was never fixed after multiple complaints and wouldn’t give us a new room either. Also GVV puts you in the cheapest rooms possible, I noticed on the hotel vouchers that GVV emailed me - it would say things like Mountain View room as requested and not a lake view room when we were staying in Lake Tahoe. Our hotel in Lake Tahoe didn’t even have AC in the room and it was 90 degrees while we were there. They are putting their guests in the cheapest options for hotels!!
They also changed our hotels 3 times before we ever left for our trip and then called us to let us know of the last minute changes while we were already in California. Good thing I checked my own email since their “helpful” call came after we arrived.

Also, even though the trip said Yosemite National Park it didn’t actually include reservations to the park nor did they let us know that we needed reservations during Covid. They made ZERO effort to make sure we had a positive experience during the pandemic or help us with any new travel plans with our new booking. Absolutely worthless company!

Once they get your money, this is the absolute worst company to deal with. Since they didn’t give me an option to review their terrible customer service, I’m going on my own and finding other ways to let the public know to never book through GVV or ATI!!
