- Wake up early and book ahead for the city’s major attractions such as the Rijksmuseum or Anne Frank House, as these often have long queues if you’re not first there.

- Rest your feet for a couple of hours by taking a boat tour of Amsterdam’s Canals.
- For a more off-the-beaten-track experience head out of the city centre or hop on the free ferry to Amsterdam North for an alternative view from the water.
- The weather in Amsterdam can be a little wild, and is often unpredictable, so do pack an umbrella, rain jacket and warm sweater! Fortunately the city has many wonderful little cafes and “brown bars” (old fashioned pub-style cafes) to keep you warm and dry.
