An enormous undertaking that originally began under Qin Shi Huang (first emperor of China) in 200 B.C., the Great Wall was not completed until the Ming Dynasty in 1640. This morning you have plenty of time to walk along its ancient path and experience part of China's fascinating history.

Today, we start our Beijing Capital tour with Qianmen Street. Qianmen Street was a commercial and entertainment hub due to its convenient location, connecting the Imperial Palace with other communities in Beijing. In the run-up to the 2008 Olympics, the street underwent a rejuvenation to restore the streetscape to that of the early 20th. A visit to Tiananmen Square, the world-famous and historic Tiananmen Square, or “Gate of Heavenly Peace”. Located in the heart of Beijing, Tiananmen Square was once the main gate to the Imperial Palace during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. Today, it is home to the Monument to the People’s Heroes, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, National Museum of China, and the Great Hall of the People. Afterwards, we drive by the famed Olympic Site and have a photo stop at Olympic National Stadium (the Bird's Nest), Olympic National Aquatics Center (the Water Cube) and National Center for the Performing Art. We did the tour to Bangkok and Phuket in off season. We were concerned about the weather and if we would get a sub-par experience. But we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend Affordable World!! Great company. Very organized and thorough. Our tour guide was amazing! He explained all of our stops and even some extra tid bits about the country. We were transported in air conditioned vans/sprinters to every stop. We felt right at home!

My son’s girlfriend was stuck in Athens in the middle of the night when Trump announced that US borders would close. She was there because Affordable World kept reassuring her that it was OK to travel. What a lie! We managed to get her out of there and onto a flight home. Affordable Travel was no help in this crisis. Not only did they not answer the phone to help her, they now refuse to refund any of her money! And all they send her is impersonal and dismissive messages. No empathy or sense of responsibility or concern. Do not use this company for travel! All the reassurances on their website are pure marketing and completely insincere. Stay away from Affordable World!!

I'm so disappointed in this company. Our honeymoon redo to Maldives was cancelled by the company due to COVID-19 and there was not a full refund issued. We have no trip and we lose $2000 due to something that was out of our control. Our hard earned money down the drain. We even purchased trip insurance. Completely devastated! I will never work with this company again and I suggest that if you're considering working with them you choose another travel agency.

Incredibly unprofessional company. Do not book a trip with this company unless you are willing to lose your money.

My sister and I had booked a trip to Bali. With the growing fear and concern of Covid-19 (coronavirus) AND the recommendation from the CDC (center for disease control and prevention), we canceled our trip 17 days prior to departure date. They were completely unwilling to refund us our money and we were asked to pay a load of penalty fees. A customer service representative even recommended that we cancel before the penalty fees increased, so we did.

A few days before our original departure date, we noticed that the company had updated the cancellation policy and penalty fees due to the rising concern over Covid-19. Naturally, we contacted them and asked if they would honor these updated fees. They said no & basically told us that if we had "waited" to cancel, the updated cancellation policy and fees would have applied. Therefore, people that were booked on the same EXACT trip as us were refunded nearly ALL of their money back (IF THEY CANCELLED LAST MINUTE) but those of us who cancelled 1-2 weeks early, lost a lot of our money.

Shame on this company for PROFITING from the fear and danger of a global pandemic.
