Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Dublin, Ireland!

Welcome to Dublin! Upon arrival, pick up your luggage and pick up your rental car, then head to your first accommodation in County Meath, located about one hour from the airport. Be careful, Ireland drives on the opposite side of the road.

Day 2: County Meath - Ireland Bed & Breakfast

Today, consider continuing your journey west to the vibrant coastal city of Galway, known for traditional pubs, a vibrant music scene, and the famous Galway oysters!

Day 3: Ireland Bed & Breakfast

Today, consider driving down the Wild Atlantic Way to County Clare's most-visited natural attraction: the Cliffs of Moher! Rising 700 feet above sea level, these rugged cliffs are truly a wondrous sight to behold. For the more adventurous spirit, walk along the Cliff Walk for amazing views.

Day 4: Ireland Bed & Breakfast

Today, explore the famous Dingle Peninsula on the westernmost tip of Ireland (and Europe!) Begin in Dingle town, arguably one of Ireland's most charming towns. Stroll up and down Green Street as you pass cozy pubs and eclectic shops.

Head west of Dingle town and drive along the stunning coastline, stopping at interesting points along the way. Go for a walk on the locals-only Beál Bán beach, then explore Gallarus Oratory, a 1,300-year-old stone church.

Day 5: Ireland Bed & Breakfast

Today, explore the historical and spiritual highlights of Dublin, from the Christ Church Cathedral (also Dublin's oldest building) to the imposing St. Patrick's Cathedral. In the afternoon, wind down with a stroll through the courtyard of Dublin Cathedral.

You could also take a deep dive into Dublin's drinking culture; pay a visit to the Guinness Storehouse or the Teeling Whiskey Distillery and discover the magic behind brewing your favorite Irish sips and spirits.

Day 6: Ireland Bed & Breakfast - Edinburgh, Scotland

Say goodbye to Ireland today as you fly from Dublin to Edinburgh. Upon arrival, pick up your second rental car and make your way to your first Scottish bed and breakfast! Consider staying close to St. Andrews, Scotland's oldest university town and the birthplace of golf.

Fly from Dublin to Edinburgh

Day 7: Scotland Bed & Breakfast

Head north today and explore the vast beauty of Inverness. Along the way, break up the drive and stop in cultural Perth or Dundee. Once you get up to Inverness, check out the River Ness, Fort George, and the many castles, museums, and galleries in the area.

If only for a day, it might be fun to give in to the myth of "Nessie," the famous monster of Loch Ness. Visit the most famous of all Scottish Lochs - explore and let your imagination run wild!

A Tip For Your Trip: You can activate your explorer pass any day you choose.

Scottish Explorer Pass (3-day)

The 3-day Scottish Explorer Pass is a flexible one-price admission ticket to 77 Historic Scotland properties and attractions – castles, cathedrals, palaces and an historical whisky distillery. Other benefits include skip-the-line entrance to Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle, free entry to Historic Scotland’s program of daytime events, and a 20% discount on audio tours at Edinburgh Castle. An easy and money-saving way to see Scotland’s top attractions, the 3-day Explorer Pass is valid over a 5-day period, and can be used on any 3 days within that 5-day period. Please present your voucher in exchange for the Scottish Explorer Pass at any of the following exchange points: Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Urquhart Castle or Glasgow Cathedral.  It does not become active until your first site visit.

Day 8: Scotland Bed & Breakfast

Make your way westward to the picturesque Isle of Skye, where you'll find rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages, and medieval castles. Take a photo at the haunting Old Man of Storr or go hiking in the lush Faeire Glen.

Day 9: Scotland Bed & Breakfast

You might want to keep your urban spirit going and head to the hip city of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city. A bunch of hot spots there include Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Pollok Country Park, Buchanan Street, and the Necropolis. Glasgow is renowned for its shopping, music, artistic culture, and friendliness.

Day 10: Scotland Bed & Breakfast

What better place to cap off an incredible vacation than Edinburgh? In Scotland's capital city, be amazed by historic architecture, a hilltop castle and plenty of pubs.

Start the day with a visit to Edinburgh Castle, a 12th-century fortress that makes an indelible mark on the skyline. Imagine yourself as part of a fairytale as you wander the grounds of this former royal residence. In the evening, venture to one of Edinburgh's theaters to experience a play, musical or performance. This is an art-lover's town!

Day 11: Depart Scotland

Your Irish-Scottish B&B adventure ends today. At the appropriate time, head to Edinburgh airport, drop off your rental car and head for your departure gate.

Fly home!

NIGHTMARE Experience

I've been on two trips with Great Value and loved the experience, however, our last trip has been a NIGHTMARE. From no communication from Great Value, to finding out unknown issues with multiple phone calls with different answers, to having to cancel our trip altogether and only getting half our money back. It has been incredibly frustrating. If we weren't as proactive about calling them 7 different times, we would have ended up in our destination with no rental car or way to get ourselves home, and now we are out almost 2K!

Further explanation:
We booked an Ireland/Scotland trip. We would fly into Edinburgh-spend 3 days then fly over to Dublin-spend 3 days, then fly home out of Dublin.

In the past we have extended our trip to stay a few more days, which is what we did on this planned trip. However, this time we found our own airfare as it was dramatically cheaper than having them book it for us. We were told this was fine and that everything else would be in place and ready for us.

We called back to tell them the new dates and that we would be arriving 3 days earlier, so we would want our rental car earlier and we would pay for the extra days. They told us that was no problem and that we would get a confirmation soon. 10 days went past and we never saw anything from them. We called the rental car agency and they hadn’t heard of us. So, we called Great Value back.

This is where things get really fun…. We were then informed we couldn’t extend our trip and that all our airfare will be canceled. According to them, if we miss the first flight all other flights associated would be canceled by the airline. Which when we asked them to work with the airlines to make sure things wouldn’t get canceled, they said they don’t do that. A travel booking agency doesn’t do that…Seriously?!

So, we have no way to get to Ireland once we get to Scotland. Cool, so we can’t even use the other half of our pre-paid trip. Trying to salvage the trip, we asked if we could use our hotel vouchers in Scotland and just say in Scotland the whole time. We were then told, “no, Ireland vouchers are for Ireland only.” Cool, so we paid 1K each for 3 accommodation vouchers, no flights, and a rental car that they NEVER booked.

Finally, at our wit's end, we asked to cancel. We were then informed that we would only get half our money back and even then, we only get credit back with them... In the end, I’ll never use Great Value again. They are so disorganized, unhelpful, and their customer service is far from friendly when you have a real problem. Seriously, find a different company.

Choose regional Brooklyn. They MUST be dealt with legally. ALL of us writing in will make the AG take legal action.

Anyone who has dealt with this company KNOWS by reading any of these 5 star reviews that they are NOT real. Who took in a trip in 2020 for one? Total Frauds! I hope someone goes to prison for the fraud they are perpetrating.

They canceled my trip and kept the money. BEWARE!! They canceled a 2k prepaid trip and unbelievably they kept the money and offered a "travel voucher" the EXPIRES later this year. Who ever heard of someone selling a product...then refusing to furnish it but still keeping your money. I even bought insurance and was worthless through them. If you look at BBB in NY you will see dozens of similar reviews of this shady operation. I wouldn't believe it if it didn't happen to us and tons of others. Run from GV Vacations.

I've booked three different trips with GVV (Iceland, Rome, City Hopper with Dublin, London, and Paris) and they've been wonderful each time! Any questions or details I've needed, they have been attentive and made sure you have everything you need as part of your booking. This is one of the few travel companies I trust. Their policies for rebooking are fair and much more than what most companies are offering during this crazy time. I can't wait to travel with them again! Here's to hoping for future travel soon!

We booked a trip to England with Great Value Vacations for May of 2020. The COVID pandemic forced us to reschedule for October 2020 then again for fall 2021. At every step this company has been excellent to deal with. We actually extended our trip at each reschedule and they added perks too. It’s now setting up perfectly. And the value is clearly there. I estimate we are saving 25-30% off what we would have paid to book this trip (flights, car, lodging, transfers and passes) on our own.
