Highlights (Bullets)

  • Blue Lagoon entrance with bathing fee & towel, Silica mud mask and first drink of choice
  • Pearl Tour: Golden Circle Super Jeep & Snowmobile Tour
  • Northern Lights Guided Coach Tour

Short Description

Experience the thrill of snowmobiling across an Arctic glacier, and traveling in a specially modified Super Jeep vehicle to visit geothermal geysers, frozen waterfalls and unique volcanic formations. The Northern Lights beckon during a guided journey to learn their shimmering secrets. And no stop on your travels to Iceland is complete without a visit to the famed Blue Lagoon, where the geothermal waters offer exhilarating relaxation.

Your Super Jeep vehicle was originally a standard truck, SUV or van that was modified according to strict regulations in Iceland. It is basically a specially equipped 4x4 vehicle with very tall tires (36-46 inches), which was designed to be driven in demanding Icelandic terrains. This special vehicle enables you to travel to Iceland and experience more of the stunning scenery that can’t be accessed with traditional vehicles.

*Please note: The Blue Lagoon has a minimum age requirement of 2 years old.

**Please note:  Drivers need to present a valid driver’s license in order to drive a snowmobile (minimum age 17 years old). Two people share each snowmobile. Snowmobiling is dependent on snow layers.

Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to Reykjavik!

Upon arrival at Keflavik Airport, you'll board the non-guided scheduled tour bus for a transfer to the Blue Lagoon, where you can choose to bathe in its rich mineral waters (bathing fee is included), or simply take a walk in the area. Soothed and relaxed, take the Flybus shuttle from the Blue Lagoon to Reykjavik city center, and check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day and evening are at leisure.

Those who are arriving with flights that do match the schedule for the transfer via the Blue Lagoon can use this transfer on their departure day instead.

Day 2 Reykjavik

Experience a day tour to remember, packed with action and nature's discoveries! Discover three of the most outstanding attractions in the South of Iceland on a fully guided 4x4 super jeep excursion, then ride a snowmobile on the country's second largest glacier. The first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is one of Iceland's most significant historical sites, because it was there that Iceland's first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD.

From Thingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring, the one spouting hot spring on Earth after which all other spouting hot springs are named. From there we continue on to Gullfoss (the Golden waterfall) where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face. Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland's nature and go for a one-hour snowmobiling tour on Langjokull, Iceland's second largest glacier.

Day 3 Reykjavik

Enjoy the day at leisure, exploring the vibrant city of Reykjavik. Although the city is a metropolis in every sense, it's been carefully developed and crafted around a number of easily accessible recreational areas and country parks. With an extensive network of well-maintained footpaths winding through the city's numerous parks and nature reserves, you won't have to travel far to take a quick break from city life and explore nature.

This evening, you'll join a coach tour out of the city's bright lights, to hunt for the natural wonder of the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. These are often seen dancing around in fantastic colors across the Arctic sky.

Day 4 Depart Reykjavik

Your Iceland adventure break comes to an end today! If you did not have the time to visit the Blue Lagoon upon arrival, you can enjoy a visit with your departure transfer. You'll depart from Reykjavik Airport.

There were six of us all traveling together which I had made clear when I called GVV. Our tour did not include transfers, which was not made known to us. Can you imagine 6 old ladies winding up in a foreign country trying to find out how to get to their hotels, train stations, etc., what a disaster! You also had us traveling on different times on the trains between cities which was not brought to our attention and was a disaster.

I hate to give bad reviews, but if this review will help in better customer service, it’s worth a try.

Booking travel deals online can be hectic because you don’t have a direct contact person. You call a 800- number if there is a issue and you get who you get.
I had an issue with my PNR number not working when it was time to
Check in for the plane and because it took me almost 2 hours when I finally got checked in, we were the last seats on the very back of the airplane. Well you deal with it because you’re going to Hawaii.. just happy to have a seat.it was frustrating calling the airlines and I was directed back to Great Value ..
We got that issue resolved.
Now we get to the hotel and was told the daily resort fee was double the amount that we were quoted.
The quote we were given verbally over the phone was $29.98 and when we got to the resort it was 59.98 . It wasn’t a issue with the price , it’s the inconsistency of getting the correct info when you call and it’s not explained thoroughly in the paper work, and hotels aren’t to kind when you book thru 3rd party contracts. It appears everything is a good price but you are on the bottom of the totem pole for everything .. plane rides .. very last group and seat , back of the hotel airport bag fees.. not so sure this was a great value and no one cares after they get your money . I’m still waiting for a Manager to call me back and my vacation is over

Overall, this was a very nice trip. The hotels were all good quality and the train departure times were good. My only complaint was that while the hotel in Budapest was very nice, it was pretty far from all the sites we wanted to visit. The other hotels were in good locations. The value of the package was excellent.
