- May through September is the most popular (and expensive) season on the Seine (September often offers the most pleasant weather with fewer crowds).

- To judge the best value as opposed to just the lowest price, watch for how many “extras” are included in the base rate – port excursions, alcohol, balcony cabins, airport transfers in Paris -- that could add to the cost.
- For maximum privacy and comfort, consider splurging on a balcony cabin, where you can relax and watch the changing Seine riverside tableau pass by.
- If you want a French wine country cruise, look farther south in France to rivers that run through Burgundy or Bordeaux.
- Some cruise lines combine Seine cruises with voyages through the Burgundy wine country (the Saône and Rhône rivers), making for a two-week cruise with a connecting bus ride.
