Itinerary
Day 1: International Outbound Flight
Today you will begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Singapore.
Day 2: Singapore
Accommodation: The Fullerton Hotel
Arriving in Singapore you will be met and transferred to your hotel with the rest of the day to relax.
Day 3: Singapore
You have most of the day at leisure before you are transferred back to the airport for your overnight flight to Port Moresby with Air Niugini.
Day 4: Port Moresby , Mount Hagen
Accommodation: Rondon Ridge
Arrive in to Port Moresby at 8am where you will be met by your guide and taken on a short city tour followed by an early lunch in town. (You may be joined by other travellers on the same flight schedule). You will be taken back to the airport in time for the Air Niugini flight to Mount Hagen. You will be met off your flight for the 45 minute shared transfer to your lodge in the hills above town where you have the remainder of the day free.
Day 5: Mount Hagen
Accommodation: Rondon Ridge
Spend the day exploring the area with your small group and guide. Visit local tribes and go in search of Birds of Paradise.
Day 6: Mount Hagen
Accommodation: Rondon Ridge
Spend another day around Mount Hagen where you will visit small tribal villages and stunning woodland areas famed for their birdlife.
Day 7: Mount Hagen , Karawari
Accommodation: Karawari Lodge
Transferring back to Mount Hagen you will board a light aircraft for a stunning flight over PNG's dense jungles to the Sepik area. Your transfer from the airstrip to Karawari Lodge is by boat - the only practical means of transport in this extremely isolated part of the world. Once you have settled in to your lodge you will head out to a nearby village to meet some of the indigenous tribes.
Day 8: Karawari
Accommodation: Karawari Lodge
You may like to get up before dawn today to see the resident Bird of Paradise as it makes it's daily appearance at around 6am on a tree stump some 20mins boat journey away. This is the best time to see plenty of other birdlife in the area as it swoops over the rivers. Today you will spend most of the day travelling by boat to remote villages only accessible in this way. Pass by many locals in dug out canoes and see how day to day life goes on in this tribal area.
Day 9: Karawari , Ambua
Accommodation: Ambua Lodge
Today you transfer from the Karawari to Ambua on your second spectacular light aircraft flight. The country between Ambua and the Sepik region is an amazing array of jagged limestone that seem to rise and drop at impossible angles. Ambua Lodge is high on the slopes of the Tari Valley - home of the Huli, a colourful and proud people, still largely living the same way that their ancestors did. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon in search of the Birds of Paradise in the area with your guide.
Day 10: Ambua
Accommodation: Ambua Lodge
Spend the full day with your group and guide visiting the famous tribal regions of the Southern Highlands. Close up encounters with Huli Men or the Wigmen mean this will be one of the most memorable experiences of your trip.
Day 11: Ambua , Tari , Port Moresby
Accommodation: Airways Hotel
You will be taken to the airport for the flight back to Port Moresby by Air Niugini. You have an afternoon free to relax at the hotel.
Day 12: Port Moresby , International Return Flight
Enjoy a morning of bird watching before being taken to the airport for your flight to Singapore with Air Niugini.
Day 13: International Return Flight
Arrive home today to complete your journey.

So much more than a travel agent
The second and more recent time was on a trip to Vietnam organised by their Indochina expert Ross Cleary.
We were on the final day of a 19 day trip to Vietnam and Cambodia which given the quality the hotels and excursions arranged by Ross was shaping up to be the best holiday we had ever taken.
Unfortunately my wife developed breathing difficulties and I had to take her to hospital. The hospital decided to admit her and we were left very frightened and wondering what to do about our flights which were due to leave in 4 hours time. There is a 7 hour time difference between U.K. and Vietnam so it was the middle of the night in the U.K. However, one phone call to the Audley duty manager had me connected to him via "whatsapp" so that he could update me real time on the situation without the £7 per minute phone charges. The flights were postponed, I was put up in the closest hotel to the hospital and Audley took care of all the minutiae so that I could concentrate on my wife who was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Upon being discharged my wife was told she could not travel immediately. We spent a total of 8 days in a hotel arranged by Audleys local partners Vidotours. A fantastic hotel at a very reasonable price. The hotel bill was covered until I got home and the flights were re-instated for a tiny admin fee.
We don't always use a travel company to book our holidays, but visiting out of the way places where local knowledge and support can be invaluable I would thoroughly recommend Audley.
These guys are so much more than a travel agent.

Could not have been better
The same couple recommended their travel agent – Audley travel - so that is where we went. I was suspicious as to whether they would add any value as I can book my own flights and negotiate deals with hotels but we were extremely pleased with the service from Isabelle – their Caribbean specialist. More on this later.
We worked with her to optimise the price for the flights. Although I have over 500k miles still with BA, reward flights were out of the question but we managed to get Virgin Upper for £5,500 (compared to BA quote of around £10k for Club which is just not quite as good)
Audley managed all of the booking process at our selected hotels so we had a single contact point. The arrangements were faultless and we were kept informed at all times. The itinerary was well presented and we had both an electronic version and a high-quality folder with all the paperwork and recommendations for trips and restaurants as well as quality luggage tags. It all makes you feel good.
On landing in Antigua we were met at the bottom of the jetway by a representative of Audley (St James travel) who took us straight to the front of the queue at immigration (we never knew such service existed). Having passed through that, our bags were just coming round the carousel so the rep took them off, led us into the outside world where we had to wait about 5 minutes for our private transfer (only because we were early!). We were in the car less than 20 minutes from touching down. Last time I achieved that was on a hand baggage only trip with Ryanair to Salzburg. All thanks to Audley.
The inter hotel transfer and return transfer to the airport were faultless as was the post holiday catch up call.

Cancellation policy
If you have to cancel part of the booking or cancel the entire booking once it has been confirmed by us, written notification must be sent to us by recorded delivery post or by email. As proof of receipt by email of your notification to cancel you must receive and retain written acknowledgement from Audley Travel. Charges will be applied from the date the letter is received, or the email is acknowledged by Audley Travel, according to the scale below. The charges are applied as a percentage of the total holiday cost excluding any amendment charges and any amounts paid in addition to the deposit at the time of booking or before balance due date (see clauses 1(ii) and I(iv)) which are non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
The following cancellation charges apply if your final balance due date is 8 weeks prior to departure. Please note, different cancellation charges apply in relation to certain products – please see your quote for details.
