Laugh and the kookaburras laugh with you. Cry and the kookaburras still laugh. That’s the beauty of a journey to happy-go-lucky Australia where sunny days are accentuated by its even sunnier inhabitants. Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and wombats are among the many locals eager to greet you on this breezy tour of Australia. With visits to four wondrous waterfront cities, you’ll easily see why the world gushes about the land Down Under. Go behind the scenes at Brisbane’s Australia Zoo, snorkel above the dazzling coral at the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns and devour the panoramic scenery and a delicious lunch at the iconic Sydney Opera House. With two days in eclectic Melbourne, you can also gobble up all the goodies this hipster city and surrounding areas have to offer. Perhaps take in the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island or chill with a nice chardonnay at a Yarra Valley winery. This 12-day tour shows you all the Great Sights of Australia!

Highlights

The right vacation to Australia can easily transport you to another state of mind, especially if it includes a wetland cruise on Yellow Water Billabong in Kakadu National Park, a glass-bottom-boat tour at the Great Barrier Reef, a scenic cruise on Sydney Harbour, and many other exciting modes of transportation. The most moving experience on this grand tour of Australia, however, is an overnight rail journey on the legendary The Ghan Train—an exhilarating crossing from South Australia through the heart of the Australian Outback. A stop to see an amazing Outback sunrise in Marla offers the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs and imagination. As you venture in every direction on this encompassing tour of Australia—including untamed Tasmania—you’ll also be moved by big-city lights, Red Center sunsets, screeching Tasmanian devils, and sleepy koalas. All aboard for an above-and-beyond adventure through the “Land Down Under.”

Melbourne Tour Selection Trips

  • If you're visiting Australia for a short amount of time, a good plan is to use Melbourne as a home base and take several mini trips. Melbourne is centrally located enough for you to be able to experience the wine country, beach scenes, wildlife, and the beautiful Great Ocean Road.
  • Many itineraries that head to Central Australia or Queenland will bookend the tour with either Sydney or Melbourne. They should allow at least 2 days in Melbourne to get a full appreciation of the city.
  • It's no secret that Australians enjoy a night out. Much as one would advise against trying to keep up with a Scot at the bar, the same goes for Australians. Melbourne has a lively night life, but definitely go at your own pace.
