Nightmare

Worst experience. Booked before covid, trip was cancelled due to covid, we were forced to rebook or we’d lose our money before a certain date. We still couldn’t leave the country during the second date. Great value did nothing. We had travel insurance so we cancelled and made a claim. Apparently you have to be dead to get your money back. We just lost $4200 and great value did not back us up. Unprofessional and disappointing DO NOT a book with great value vacations. Scam

HORRIBLE

Avanti Destinations is a HORRIBLE and dishonest company. Paul Barry(who is sole owner) along wtih executive team of COO Mark Grundy, CMO John Hanratty and CFO Susan Marra should be ashamed on how they run a company. As a military family we booked our trip to London to leave March 21, 2020. This was to be our FAMILY trip overseas. While C19 is not the fault of Avanti, it is Barry who is at fault. While other airlines and travel agencies are giving a 100% REFUND not just vouchers Avanti is holding our money hostage. Trying to work with anyone associated with this company does not response. How can USTOA stand behind this company? How do we get a FULL REFUND from Avanti? My travel agent sent us information and our of almost $7000.00 we would get back $1700.00. Seriously? We are PCSing to another country in Asia and want to travel. What is Avanti decides to file bankruptcy because Barry does not know how to manage clients money. SOMEONE HELP US!!!

Company is pocketing thousands of dollars from travelers

I would love to write a review about our meticulously planned out trip, but as our $12000 week long trip to London and Dublin was cancelled due to a global pandemic, I cannot. This company has made it not just hard but nearly impossible to help out their customers who are in awful situations during this time. They are completely unwilling to budge on their bottom line even a little. We had to cancel due to boarder/country closings and this company is trying to keep 100% of our money. We were booked to fly with British Airlines, and BA refunded $700 per person and that is all that this company has given us. If by some miracle we get a representative on the phone they are condescending and degrading. I even spoke with the VP of the company and he was the worst. He made me feel small and unimportant. This whole company is taking advantage of the situation and unless people get lawyers involved they are completely unwilling to refund any money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If something goes wrong on your trip, which let face it, multi country trips often have at least one thing go wrong, this company will NOT HELP! Do yourself a favor and go with someone else who has much better customer service and company values.

Mother Daughter Trip

I planned a surprise trip for me and my daughter with Sky Vacations to India. I was a little nervous at first, but they were very very professional in making all plans. When we arrived in India until we left, we were treated amazingly and each day was better than the previous one. The only sad day was when we had to leave!

What an incredible Egypt trip!

What an incredible Egypt trip! Our Egyptologist /guide Ramez was so knowledgeable – we learnt a lot about Egypt’s ancient history and at the same time it was so much fun. Hotels were great, Nubian dinner was a highlight, Nile cruise was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Highly Recommended

We did the tour to Bangkok and Phuket in off season. We were concerned about the weather and if we would get a sub-par experience. But we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend Affordable World!! Great company. Very organized and thorough. Our tour guide was amazing! He explained all of our stops and even some extra tid bits about the country. We were transported in air conditioned vans/sprinters to every stop. We felt right at home!

The trip was amazing

Just returned from Greece touring Athens and Crete (Chania & Heraklion). Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and excellent every step of the way! Entire trip went smoothly. Our group received excellent care from beginning to end. All transportation and hotels were top notch. The trip was amazing and we would use Affordable World again.

Do not use this company for travel!

My son’s girlfriend was stuck in Athens in the middle of the night when Trump announced that US borders would close. She was there because Affordable World kept reassuring her that it was OK to travel. What a lie! We managed to get her out of there and onto a flight home. Affordable Travel was no help in this crisis. Not only did they not answer the phone to help her, they now refuse to refund any of her money! And all they send her is impersonal and dismissive messages. No empathy or sense of responsibility or concern. Do not use this company for travel! All the reassurances on their website are pure marketing and completely insincere. Stay away from Affordable World!!

Stay away!

The hotels were fabulous, so I gave an extra star for that. We took the Classic Journeys trip to Southeast Asia and it was so poorly handled that all the participants were shocked, emailing and calling the company mid-trip and swore never to go one another one of their trips again. Poor to no communications, mediocre guides who didn't have the itinerary, no information on our internal flights, had to beg for the final itinerary before we left, are meals included or not?, the guides didn't know. I could go on and on. And it seemed as if Classic Journeys didn't even care ("we've never had a trip with issues before") or apologize. A small credit towards a future journey with a company you cannot trust, doesn't seem to cut it. This is not just me, every person in the group felt the same way.

Classic journeys expensive sham

Incredibly squalid lodging - no amenities- boiling hot- bad, cheap food and wine. 19 people - 8 more than promised at booking - paid single premium but treated second class. More hiking than walking under blazing sun and hilly rocky paths - the huge bus couldn’t fit. Huge misrepresentation- stay away!!

Paradise isn’t always tropical!

Winter in Alaska? YES! Classic Journey’s did all of the work including off the charts accommodations, fantastic adventures (think—helicopter landing on a glacier and walking through an ice tube), and most importantly the best guide on earth! Catharina was not only knowledgeable on Alaska but knew more about my home state than I do! PERFECTION! Thank you!!!

Classic Journeys began in 1995 and has since carved out a unique niche in the luxury travel market, providing high end travel with an adventurous twist, all over the world. What Makes Them Stand Out They describe themselves as having “sophisticated gusto” an apt way to get an idea of their travel style. It’s luxury travel but not the stuffy sort. In France, you might find yourself in the chateaux-lined Loire Valley or the lavender fields of Provence. In Italy, you might walk the Amalfi Coast or through Sardinia. In Southeast Asia, you can meet the locals while walking through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. In North America, you might explore Nova Scotia's coast or the streets of Savannah and Charleston. In Latin America, Cuba, Costa Rica, Belize and Chile are all possibilities. As Classic Journeys puts it: "We meet and mingle…in markets, vineyards, piazzas and homes." And always at a relaxed pace. Who Travels With Them Many of their customers are independent minded travelers who are fed up with planning the logistics. As such they focus on keeping an element of spontaneity in their trips. You’ll enjoy their itineraries if you enjoy unique local experiences combined with the luxury that comes with having everything expertly taken care of. Group size ranges between 10 and 18 on their walking, culinary, and family tours, and they can also arrange private custom itineraries. Where Do They Operate They arrange trips all over the globe, from South America to New Zealand. A majority of trips are in France, Italy, Canada, and the United States. Why Travel With Them They emphasise keeping the feeling of spontaneous, authentic local travel in their approach to guided travel. You can choose from between specialized itineraries in four main “buckets”: Cultural Walking Adventures, Culinary Tours, Family Multi-Sport, and Private Journeys. Local guides will provide a deeper perspective as you experience each destination from all sides, through unique and immersive cultural activities, never losing the element of luxury travel.

IE puts on a show on the Amazon

My wife and I just returned from a wet season trip with International Expeditions (IE) to Lima and the Amazon. It was tremendous: 1. The diversity of wildlife is extreme and up close and personal. 2. The vastness of it all approaches infinity. 3. The staff and guides were top drawer professionals. The IE mother ship (Zafiro) is in great condition and very comfortable, clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly, helpful, supportive, knowledgeable. The naturalists/guides are the best. Experts in the wildlife and flora and good-natured and personable. Yes, it is hot and humid, but very bearable. Yes, there are mosquitoes at night, but again very manageable. (We've all experienced much much worse in the US.) In the wet season (50 feet higher water than in dry season) you don't get to walk as much as you do in dry season because terra firma is so much further into the rain forest than you can reach in a boat. But we did get to visit villages and walk in the rain forest. We swam. We went out every morning and afternoon in the skiffs to explore smaller rivers and lakes. Sloths, monkeys, iguana, boa, anaconda, caiman, tarantula, piranha, frogs, toads, and more bird types than you can count. Wow - What a Show!
5.0 • The Amazon does not disappoint

Amazon River Cruise

This was our second time coming to Peru but first time with International Expeditions and it was amazing. Staff and guides are very friendly and accommodating. If you have food allergies and any sort of problem they take the time to ensure you have a great trip and will help you any way that they can. The river cruise itself was very comfortable clean sheets, beds are nice and rooms are pretty spacious overall for a river cruise. We always had daily activities to participate in or could choose to stay behind. But I wouldn't recommend that as you get to see so much just within the first couple of days that you're in Pacaya-Samiria Reserve! The wildlife was incredible and included sightings of monkeys, birds, snakes, a sloth, spiders and beautiful frogs that you get to see during the night boat tour. I loved going into a local village and learning about cultural traditions that have been passed on from generation to generation. We even participated in a spiritual ritual that's supposed to cleanse your body; a very interesting experience! I'd recommend bringing and using insect repellent daily especially during summer peak season, it is the Amazon after all. If you love wildlife and are looking for a great authentic but comfortable experience in nature, I highly recommend this trip.

Amazing 15 day Amsterdam to Budapest.

We have just returned from our amazing 15 day Amsterdam to Budapest. We had the best time, loved all the included tours and especially our tour director Evelyn , nothing was ever too much trouble. We would like to Thankyou for the ease of change of boats after a barge got stuck and boats were banked up, we went from the AMA verde to AMA Bella without fuss . This trip exceeded our expectations. We loved our suite the owners plus certainly worth every penny. We highly recommend this tour and apt

China 2018

China 2018 - Recently returned from China 2018. It was an awesome trip. However the brochure listed it as a "3" activity level. It in no way was a three. The first day we walked almost 20,000 steps. The rest of the trip was 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day. The majority of those steps each day were on uneven surfaces, lots of steps and extremely steep inclines. Definitely not a "3" trip.

TERRIBLE....TERRIBLE! DO NOT USE THEM!

I helped my son book an all inclusive vacation to Cancun and when he got there they had NO record for his reservation so he had NO room. Luckily we had a couch in our room so he ended up stay in our room. As soon as we got back we called and emailed them and all they are offering him is a credit for half the cost with Apple. WHY WOULD WE EVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN? THIS CREDIT WILL NEVER GET USED CAUSE I WOULD NEVER TRUST THEM. SO DISSATIFIED WITH THIS COMPANY. So glad I was there with my son and he wasn't by himself in another country with no hotel reservations. Suck bullshit!

Apple Vacations

A friend of mine booked 4 of us on an Apple Vacation to Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar in Cancun. One of the best vacations we ever had! No problems with flight, no problems with transfers. The airport in Cancun is difficult, but this had nothing to do with Apple Vacations. The hotel was wonderful, staff friendly and pleasant, and food was great. We had such a great time we went back again about a month later.

Poor

To whom it may concern, We are extremely disappointed in our recent trip/experiences for multiple reasons. Let me start by saying that we were scheduled to depart on 2/12/23 @ 6:30am. When we arrived at our departure terminal we were told that “Swift Air” had an issue the previous day any wasn’t going to make it. Yet no one was notified of this delay. We then boarded a replacement plane, sat on that plane for about an hour but “Swift Air” never transferred a permit. We had to deboard the plane. We were given a $15 voucher while things were worked out. That $15 voucher didn’t event cover a meal at the airport! 2 hours later we were told that we would depart at 4pm however we never left the terminal until after 6:26pm. That was approximately 14 hours we sat in the airport.. During that time I contacted Apple Vacations twice, I was reassured we would have a shuttle when we arrived in Cancun. We get through customs, my husband’s luggage was lost and there was NO shuttle available. Let me also say this was our 1st time out of the country, scared to death cuz we had no idea where we were going and now had to get in a Taxi with someone was not hired to transport us and the paid $120! This was a 20th Anniversary trip and we were scheduled to “Renew our wedding vows on Tuesday February 14th, Valentine’s Day”. Well yet another disappointment because we still didn’t have the lost luggage which had our clothing, flowers for ceremony, make up and many other personal items. The luggage did finally arrived late Tuesday, late as in 10pm! Not only was our trip cut short, we basic lost two days. Oh wait there is more, the way home “Swift Air” delayed at least 90 minutes BUT one of our checked bags was opened and personal items were stolen from the luggage. Yes I filed a claim with the travel claims, yes Apple gave us a $200 voucher per person and a $570 refund. Unfortunately this doesn’t make up for the time lost, the rescheduling of ceremony vows and the items that were stolen. The resort we stayed at is more than $570 a night also let’s consider the taxi fees we had to pay because we had no shuttle. The way that Apple Vacations and Swift Air handled these situations were absolutely horrible and we are honestly hesitant to rebook any future trips. I doubt that anything will change with this email but I felt that someone should hear our story. Thank you for reading- ~ Jodi

Since 1969, Apple Vacations has been one of the top U.S. purveyors of all-inclusive vacations to mostly warm-weather resort destinations.   What Makes Apple Vacations Stand Out? All inclusive vacations Transfers included Award-winning tour company Exclusive non-stop vacation flights Easy-to-reach Apple representatives Great value Operating on huge volume, Apple offers a wide array of discounts and will match any competitors’ prices if lower than theirs. Round-trip transfers between the destination airport and hotel are always included with every package. Transportation is taken care of at no additional cost, rather than overcharging for pick-ups like most travel sites. There is also a variety of added values such as room upgrades, golf discounts, and free weddings just to name a few. Who Travels With Apple Vacations? All ages Those who love beach vacations ‘Soft’ adventurers Solo and group travelers Anyone looking for an all-inclusive vacation package will love traveling with Apple Vacations. Majority of their travelers are US natives, but they welcome everyone onto their tours. It should be noted that all tours are conducted in English. Apple Vacation tours typically aren’t physically demanding - the most you’ll have to potentially prepare for is 1 hour of walking at a leisurely pace. Top Destinations Mexico Carribean Hawaii Central and South America Apple Vacations will take you to all the tropical destinations that are popular with North Americans. White sand beaches that stretch for miles in Aruba, volcanoes and hidden waterfalls in Hawaii - the types of destination that everyone dreams of going to. Whilespecializing in warm-weather destinations, they also offer ski destinations in the winter. Go skiing with Apple Vacations in the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe, and even Japan! Apple Vacations Travel Style Apple Vacations is all about the classic fun-in-the-sun adventures. They typically focus on culture, nature, and soft adventure-themed activities. This could mean exploring a Riviera Maya adventure park on an Apple Vacations tour to Cancun, or snorkelling with tropical fish on an Apple Vacations Hawaii tour. Accommodations range anywhere from 3 star hotels to 5 star resorts. You can choose what type of hotel you’d like to stay in depending on your interests, budget, and occasion. They work with big hotel chains that are great for weddings, family reunions, parties, and the like. It’s suggested to do some hotel research as every place offers a different experience. However, if you’re hoping for quirky local accommodations or culturally immersive homestays, you won’t find it here. Most meals are included, with many being large buffets catered by the hotel.   On Apple Vacations’ non-stop charter flights, they’ll typically leave in the morning and return in the evening, maximizing your time at your destination. (If departure cities aren’t convenient, they’ll work with commercial airlines to get you there.) Once you arrive at your destination airport, you’ll get a free transfer to your hotel (with a few exceptions). Why Choose a Tour with Apple Vacations? If you enjoy tropical vacations with open bars and buffets by the poolside, then you should travel with Apple Vacations. Enchanting Travels did an amazing job…

Enchanting Travels did an amazing job planning my trip to Cambodia. The itinerary they created for me was excellent. They allowed me to personalize and change the itinerary before and during the trip as well. They listened to my concerns or fears while planning the trip, and addressed each and everyone of them. Enchanting Travels had English speaking tour guides and chauffeurs throughout the trip. They offer many types of travel insurances from trip cancellation for any reason, medical or evacuation, so you can have peace of mind. I had a truly amazing and relaxing trip. I would recommend Enchanting Travels for your next adventure.

Scam run away fast

Scam run away fast. They took my money for excursions they said they booked and never did and tried to tell me I owed a cancellation fee. They booked a hotel that was in the middle of know where when I asked to be somewhere within walking distance of activities. I went 12hours with no food bc the hotel restaurant was closed and there was no where I go get anything to eat. The staff could’ve cared less that my blood sugar was 44. They never called to fix things appropriately and told lies after lies. They even tried to blame the front desk staff when the front desk was going above and beyond to try to help resolve things. My trip coordinator read my messages and never responded until someone I. The company told her to follow up. Her phone cut out and she never called back. When I say this was the worst experience ever I wholeheartedly mean that. And still to this day no one has reached out to check on our trip.

Deluxe, Worry-free Travel.

Deluxe, Worry-free Travel. Our recent travel in South Africa and Zimbabwe was incredible. The best part was knowing everything was taken care of, down to the last detail. We saw the Big Five easily at Kapama. The Elephant Camp in Victoria Falls was incredible, with wild elephant interactions. Cape Town is beautiful and intense.

Very pleased!

I am at this moment on the "Jade" cruising from Amsterdam to Budapest. We are now in Bamberg. So far I have been very pleased with everything, their service is excellent and the food and the drinks is ...... Well I think you should find out yourself. I am very happy that I selected the Royal Suite, we are on the cabin # 316; good size and very comfortable.

Very disappointed!

We just disembarked from the Nuremberg to Budapest cruise and I needed to tell you before writing to Trip Advisor and other sites how disappointed we are with the total lack of hygiene and assistance provided! I have never experienced a situation where servers and food prep workers who were coughing and sneezing and obviously sick were allowed to work and spread germs to passengers or customers! We as well as many others on your ill fated cruise became sick due to your negligence. No one was required to sanitize their hands when entering or leaving the dinning room or ship. the rails were never wiped down or disinfected, and people who were coughing or sneezing then used the rails only made things worse. When we were in Vienna I was too ill to leave the ship, the front desk person Jozeph was going to the post office and I asked him if he could purchase for me some decongestants. He only drew on the map how I could walk there???? Is this the special five star treatment you offer and advertise? Many passengers on board became sick and it is your fault. There were other issues like the quality of food at dinner and the poor service, but the above is outrageous and reportable to prevent others from this situation.

Be warned, double charge!

My wife and son just attending cooking class. After the class, they learned that this company charge them twice compared to the rest of the participants in the class. When my wife asked them why, they just said that they charge correctly and there is a service charge... service charge is two time the amount of the cooking class? crazy!!!! Please be warned and be careful with this cheating company!

As this was our first organized/group tour I didn’t know what to expect

As this was our first organized/group tour I didn’t know what to expect. We booked our airfare independently as wanted to visit Dubai prior to the start of the tour. Upon arrival in Cairo at the Marriott Cairo a day before the tour started, our room was assigned already and the check in process was seamless. We had a welcome dinner the next day and met up with our group of 16 people and our exceptional Egyptologist & tour guide, Mrs. Enas Hassan. I cannot say enough about the knowledge, courtesy, patience and professionalism of Enas. This tour would have not been the same without her. I believe this in-depth tour was a fantastic way to visit Egypt. We were a bit apprehensive about travel to Egypt but now freshly back in the states, I have absolutely no qualms that we made this trip of a lifetime. After researching several aspects of travel to this region, I discovered that crime in a Egypt is less than half of a percent compared to crime in the USA which is 12%. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly and accommodating. Vendors at the markets & bazaars will approach you for a sale but not at all intimidating or threatening. Be ready to bargain with them as you would expect. Such a great feeling to get a good deal on souvenirs and priceless goods. The itinerary was comprehensive and learned so much further than that from lessons learned earlier in life. There was an equal amount of discovery and education compared to some needed downtime. As a gay married couple, we were a bit apprehensive about this tour as uncertain about visiting the a Middle East but the apprehension quickly subsided once we met our fellow travelers within our group and our trustworthy guide, Enas. We are ages 47 and 53 and we were the youngest within our group with the exception of a 24 year old daughter of other group attendees that happen to also be from Central Florida. I think our only negative feedback would be that we would have liked additional “free time” at each location but as the ages of our fellow travelers were greater than our own, they did not have the stamina to do more which is understandable, I suppose. We also had a couple that did not seem to be satisfied with accommodations, food, activity, etc. This was somewhat discerning as everyone else in the group was having a fantastic time and their energy was unnerving. When visiting a foreign country, you cannot expect things to be the same as in the USA. You need to have an open mind and experience a culture that is different than your own. I have gained so much valuable insight into the culture, history, incredible & unbelievable sights we were afforded to see on this amazing adventure. This trip, again, would not have been the same without the exceptional guidance of Enas Hassan, please request her for a truly Egyptian experience that you will never forget.

It was excellent

It was excellent. Our Tour Director & Egyptologist Mohamed Atef was one of the best that I have seen in my 40 years of worldwide travels. He was very knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. What set him apart was that he and his team took personal interest in the needs and welfare of every tour member. The hotels accommodations, Nile river boat Movenpick MS Royal Lily, local tour Buses and the meals were all wonderful. Their logistics management, baggage handling, room check-ins, meals and transfers to and from the airport were impeccable. Each and every historical site and the museums that we visited was beyond fabulous. The sites, statues are magnificent and the colors inside the Tombs are still vibrant after 4700 plus years. The Egyptian people are are quite friendly and very welcoming. One does run into vendors trying to sell you the local papyrus, books and clothing artifacts at these sites. But we recognized that this is their livelihood and were not bothered by it. We were very fortunate to have such a nice and fun group. Everyone had become friendly during the tour. The farewell dinner ended on a festive note with birthday celebrations for a couple of people in the group. I highly recommend this tour.

I had a trip booked to china Feb of…

I had a trip booked to china Feb of 2020. Of course it went away. I took my credits, which they told me I had, and signed up for a trip to Portugal in Sept of 2021. This change has never appeared in my account at Smartours. I have called three times. Every time except for today they have said, yes, you are booked, and fully paid. Today she said that It's booked but not paid for. There aren't any credits, and she needs more information. I will get a call back on Monday. Sure. They are playing hide the pea with my money. I have taken other trips with Smartours and am sorely disappointed with this experience. Where is the money? It's been a year and a half.

Very nice experience

I was provided with large varieties of food and also alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were available. Towels, soap, lotion, and shampoos were also all available. Many diverse options were available to me and the other passengers. They did a very good job to make all opportunities helpful and fun for everyone. With everything including the food and drinks everything was a great value and I'm happy to have made the purchase and I would definitely do it again someday if given the great opportunity. The stay was very relaxing but also very fun with many diverse options of things to do so that no one would get bored or hungry. The stay was worth the money and it was a very nice experience.

Was Nice

It was nice but not enough for me to recommend. Some of the food was not satisfactory, but otherwise, this was a good one. One of the best I've been on. Cool, different than others. I did tell my sister she would like it and the activities. She would have a ton of fun. She said she might go. It was pretty good. I think I paid a very reasonable amount for this cruise. I was able to go with my whole family and we all got nice rooms. The rooms were always clean and we never ever found items missing like some cruises have. I have been on a cruise where someone took one of my belongings.

21-DAY MEDITERRANEAN MAGIC & MALTA
21-DAY MEDITERRANEAN MAGIC & MALTA Trip Style: Group tour
Seattle-based Seabourn, founded in 1986 and a pioneer in luxury small-ship cruising, is now the most luxurious brand in the giant Carnival Corporation stable, and among the best lines in the cruise business.  What Makes Them Stand Out?  Among its itineraries, Seabourn features extended voyages of up to 89 days in different regions around the globe, stopping at a wide variety of ports that larger ships can’t always reach. Seabourn’s four “yachts,” as they call them, have one of the highest ratios of space per passenger in the industry, and a staff-to-passenger ratio of nearly one to one, also one of the best.  Who Travels With Them? Mostly affluent couples in the 50-plus age range who want to see the world in comfort with like-minded fellow passengers.  Where Do They Operate? Just about anywhere in the world with open seas, including all seven continents.  How Does It Work? Seabourn’s rates, while high, include fine wines and spirits, and no tipping is expected. (Optional shore excursions, however, are extra.). All cabins aboard are suites, most with verandas, and maximum passenger capacities range from 450 to 600, which, in this age of mega-ships, qualifies as “small.” The atmosphere on board is “causal, relaxed elegance.”  Why Travel With Them?  If you can afford Seabourn and feel comfortable in the floating country club atmosphere, why not? Dining, accommodations, public areas, and service are top-notch.

Not as Advertised

Tour is advertised as an "active" tour. However, YMT sold the tours to seniors and others who were unable to walk more than 1/8 mile, unable to navigate stairs or had to walk with the aid of walkers. As a result, 80 percent of the "explorations" were to visitor centers, look out points, stores or washrooms, that were within 100 feet or less of the bus. This tour should be categorized as "relaxed". A big disappointment! The bus driver was friendly and accommodating and drove us safely from one site to another. He sold water to the guests in small bottles for $1 each. I think YMT should be more conscientious of the environment and at least offer bottle refills, especially since the guide practically demanded that each person drink one gallon of water per day. The tour guide was marginally knowledgeable about the area and spent too much time telling us about her private life and friends. She led one hike, but talked mostly about how the rains had changed the landscape. One day she left two guests at the hotel and wanted the people on the bus to take responsibility for not letting her know that people were missing. We were encouraged to find hikes to take on our own, which I felt compromised safety, especially when we had an hour or so to "explore" - there was no safety or backup plan, especially if something untoward happened on a hike. She opted out of taking us to the sunset tour of the Grand Canyon telling us that it was raining and we wouldn't be able to see anything. So a couple of us went to the site on our own and it was possibly one of the best experiences I had on the entire tour (and not a drop of rain!). I often felt bullied into purchasing lunches or meals "offered" by the guide, who made it sound like there were no other options. It was difficult to listen to her brag about how well she was doing and how happy everyone was, when many people were complaining that the tour was not what they expected - mostly because it was too active!!! The accommodations were mostly good - a couple of anomalies (one with a plugged sink and no hot water for a shower, another with a pervasive bad odor). The excursions offered at the time of booking were mostly unavailable later (except for the over-priced meals). Another disappointment because I booked the tour partly because of one of the excursions offered at the time of booking. I would not recommend this tour, because I don't think it is advertised correctly.

Standing for “Your Man Tours” YMT Vacations, or just YMT, was founded in the late 1960s - as a pioneer guided tour company, responding to a rapidly emerging travel industry. What Makes YMT Vacations Stand Out? One of the main things to note about YMT is their breadth of experience in conducting guided tours. Starting in 1967, as a small local operator in the US - they have grown practically right along with the guided tour industry. This gives them the knowledge and expertise necessary for the kinds of tours they operate. Today they offer three styles of travel: guided tours, river cruises, and ocean cruises (which include a land portion). Who Will Enjoy Traveling With YMT? Mature travelers in the 50+ range seeking a comfortable and easy all-inclusive travel experience will love the YMT approach. You’ll find a good balance of cultural activities, an easy going pace, and frequent breaks for photo stops and leg-stretching. YMT tours are geared toward the budget conscious traveler. These tours are fully escorted, and involve transportation in large coaches, or via cruise. You will be around the same people and guides for the tour’s duration. Older travelers who are concerned about the opportunities to stretch their legs needn’t worry. Coaches stop every two hours, and cruises are large with plenty of room to walk around comfortably. YMT is about classic packaged travel - don’t expect to get too far off the beaten path during the itinerary. Additionally if having some free time to yourself to explore is important, you may want to look into other options first. The appeal of YMT is in their low prices and package deals; nearly everything is included other than meals. If you are the kind of traveler who likes culturally immersive small group, thematic tours, you may find the YMT approach a bit underwhelming. YMT Vacations are ideal for first time travelers, or travelers for whom relaxing on a large cruise ship sailing through Europe on a sundeck with a pool is the perfect travel experience.   Top Destinations Currently YMT offers tours around the globe. They are especially popular for Europe travel, including large cruises plus land tour portions. Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Asia, and The Americas are also offered. They have their roots in the US however, and are well known for their Hawaii, Alaska, and California tours (some specifically dedicated to the Rose Parade). YMT Travel Style Tours are designed to fall into 5 broad activity levels, the lowest being “Relaxed” and the highest being “Active.” In their case “Active” refers to longer itineraries and less leisure or free time. Groups are small to large. Trips are affordable and certain customizations are available. 1. Relaxed - You’ll travel at a leisurely pace, with very little walking. You should be able to navigate stairs or gangways to board cruise ships. 2. Easy Going - These tours usually include walking tours. Be prepared for very slight gradations and some stairs. You’ll also encounter uneven surfaces, such as cobblestones, on some tours. 3. Moderate - More activities are included on these tours, and you may be standing a lot as well as walking for longer distances. 4. Active - These trips may visit more exotic destinations where you could experience dramatic changes in temperature and altitude. You’ll also be expected to be able to climb several stairs and walk long distances.Travel days may also be longer, with a lot of climbing up and down from the bus. 5. Very Active - Expect limited free time and a very busy, jam packed tour schedule. Why Choose a Tour with YMT? YMT has a long history in the travel industry - their guides and planners have everything down to a science. You know you’re in incredibly good hands when traveling with them. They are attractive to older travelers so you’re sure to meet good friends in the same age range. Trips are fun, easy, and all about seeing wonderful sights in comfort and ease. If you are new to international travel and don’t want to miss the classics, this could be a great place to start. You don’t have to do any of the planning, and can enjoy many amenities available aboard large cruise ships, river cruises, and wonderful hotels. It’s a great combination of cultural and historical travel with all the best that comes from a vacation package.

Gianmarco was the best guide we could have asked for. He went above and beyond to show us the very best Rome has to offer, from the food to the city sites. He was patient, well spoken, and extremely knowledgeable. Our group was huge and he took it in stride.
