Founded in 1350, this royal city was a major power for over 400 years, until Burmese forces destroyed it in the 1700s. Stroll around the remains of this once-thriving city, seeing the restored chedi of the crumbled Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the blackened remnants of monasteries, the carved Buddha face entangled in tree roots, and the working Wat Yai Chaimongkol temple. Your tour also includes time at the Bang Pa In palace, a beautiful lakeside retreat of Thailand’s kings during the 19th century. Tonight, make the most of Ayutthaya’s setting by joining us for an optional dinner cruise on a traditional wooden rice barge.

Optional Tours: Ayutthaya at night by Tuk Tuk $40 pp

Check in and enjoy the rest of the day to relax and make use of your hotel’s comforts and amenities.

DAY 9: Siem Reap

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Accommodation: Royal Angkor Resort Hotel or Similar

Today is devoted to UNESCO-LISTED Angkor Wat, the jewel in Cambodia’s historical and cultural crown, and the world’s largest religious monument. Following breakfast at your hotel, set off on a guided tour of this magnificent complex, once the heart of the ancient Khmer empire that reigned supreme here between the 9th and 12th centuries. Your tour encompasses the fortified city of Angkor Thom, together with the stunning Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper Kings, the remains of the Baphuon temple, and the Royal Enclosure, pyramid-shaped Phimeanakas, and Bayon, famous for its incredible sculpted heads, all carved with smiles.  To finish, head to the top of an Angkor temple to witness a stunning Cambodian sunset, watching as the orange sun sinks below the spires, temples and palms.

DAY 10: Siem Reap

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: Royal Angkor Resort Hotel or Similar

Leave after breakfast to visit the romantic temple of Ta Prohm, another of Angkor’s gems. This beautiful temple was the only one left in its original, dilapidated state by 19th-century archaeologists, and makes a magical sight, with its crumbled buildings and terraces enveloped in jungle foliage and giant tree roots. Continue from here to the 10th-century temple of Ta Keo, the 12th-century Chau Say Tevoda temple, and the Roluos group of temples, the earliest of Angkor Wat’s treasures.  Cap your day with a visit to Les Chantiers Ecole, a vocational center dedicated to preserving Cambodian culture by teaching young locals traditional arts and crafts skills.  Explore the workshops, seeing the students making stone- and wood carvings, painting delicate silks and crafting lacquerware and other items.

DAY 11: Siem Reap - Bangkok – USA

Meals: Breakfast

Enjoy today free to explore Siem Reap, perhaps sampling some Cambodian cuisine at the restaurants or shopping for last-minute souvenirs. This evening, take the bus to Siem Reap International Airport for your return flight to the USA. If you are flying with Air China, your homebound flight departs in the early morning of the next day.

We did the tour to Bangkok and Phuket in off season. We were concerned about the weather and if we would get a sub-par experience. But we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend Affordable World!! Great company. Very organized and thorough. Our tour guide was amazing! He explained all of our stops and even some extra tid bits about the country. We were transported in air conditioned vans/sprinters to every stop. We felt right at home!

My son’s girlfriend was stuck in Athens in the middle of the night when Trump announced that US borders would close. She was there because Affordable World kept reassuring her that it was OK to travel. What a lie! We managed to get her out of there and onto a flight home. Affordable Travel was no help in this crisis. Not only did they not answer the phone to help her, they now refuse to refund any of her money! And all they send her is impersonal and dismissive messages. No empathy or sense of responsibility or concern. Do not use this company for travel! All the reassurances on their website are pure marketing and completely insincere. Stay away from Affordable World!!

I'm so disappointed in this company. Our honeymoon redo to Maldives was cancelled by the company due to COVID-19 and there was not a full refund issued. We have no trip and we lose $2000 due to something that was out of our control. Our hard earned money down the drain. We even purchased trip insurance. Completely devastated! I will never work with this company again and I suggest that if you're considering working with them you choose another travel agency.

Incredibly unprofessional company. Do not book a trip with this company unless you are willing to lose your money.

My sister and I had booked a trip to Bali. With the growing fear and concern of Covid-19 (coronavirus) AND the recommendation from the CDC (center for disease control and prevention), we canceled our trip 17 days prior to departure date. They were completely unwilling to refund us our money and we were asked to pay a load of penalty fees. A customer service representative even recommended that we cancel before the penalty fees increased, so we did.

A few days before our original departure date, we noticed that the company had updated the cancellation policy and penalty fees due to the rising concern over Covid-19. Naturally, we contacted them and asked if they would honor these updated fees. They said no & basically told us that if we had "waited" to cancel, the updated cancellation policy and fees would have applied. Therefore, people that were booked on the same EXACT trip as us were refunded nearly ALL of their money back (IF THEY CANCELLED LAST MINUTE) but those of us who cancelled 1-2 weeks early, lost a lot of our money.

Shame on this company for PROFITING from the fear and danger of a global pandemic.
