Itinerary

Day 1: Puerto Vallarta

Welcome to Puerto Vallarta, one of Mexico's most popular beach destinations. Today, meet up with your group & get ready for a day of exploring the golden sands or famous seaside malecon (promenade) lined with bars, restaurants & shops.

Day 2: Puerto Vallarta

Today take on Puerto Vallarta and opt for a zipline thrill on Mexico's longest and fastest lines or go north of town and spend the day away at the beachside town on Sayulita, known for surfing, shopping a cool vibes. Tonight maybe take in a performance over dinner on an optional boat ride in the bay.

Day 3: Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara

We’ll learn about the city known as the ‘Pearl of the West’, it’s four main squares and cathedral, then you could go and find a spot to watch one of the city’s famous live Mariachi bands do their thing. We guarantee you will want to continue the fiesta, so tonight there is a chance to sample this city’s nightlife. While you stroll around the streets you’ll get a feel for the old and new world architecture that this place is known for.

Day 4: Guadalajara to Guanajuato

Today we drive to the beautiful colonial city of Guanajuato. This afternoon explore the winding streets & subterranean passageways of this UNESCO World Heritage city. View the romantic "Callejon de beso" & hear the legend about the two lovers. Later, see the cast-iron & glass Hidalgo Market, designed by Gustave Eiffel where you'll have a chance to shop for local sweet treats.

Day 5: Guanajuato to Mexico City

We travel to Mexico City through the charming countryside of the colonial heartland. We'll make our way through agricultural districts that lead to bustling Mexico City, the largest city of the country & the oldest capital city in North America

Day 6: Mexico City

Today, we visit the unique floating gardens & markets of Xochimilco. Then, it's off through "The City of Palaces" to see the ancient ruins & colonial-influenced yet modern architecture.

Day 7: Mexico City

Start the day with a tour of the incredible ancient ruins of Teotihuacan. Afterwards, get back to Mexico City for some down time before we head out for a night on the town.

Day 8: Mexico City to Merida

Leave behind the buzz of Mexico City & fly to the beautiful white-stone city of Merida. Tour the city’s gorgeous colonial buildings & Government Palace before indulging in a mouthwatering Yucatecan meal.

Day 9: Merida to Cancun via Chichen Itza

We kick start the day with a trip to UNESCO World Heritage-listed Chichen Itza – the best preserved and most famous Mayan ruins in Mexico. Hear from our expert Local Guide about the time temples and how the Mayan calendar worked as you explore the spectacular ancient ceremonial center and the fascinating snail-shaped observatory. Back on the coach, we continue on to glitzy Cancun, Mexico’s super resort. This party paradise is a high energy destination, loaded with outdoor activities and a buzzing nightlife. Use your free time to relax with an evening siesta. Then head into town to the Mercado 28, a lively market serving up homemade foods. Sit yourself down in a fondita (little café) and order various specialties from throughout Mexico or try the regional Yucatan dish, chicken pibil (chicken in a special marinade). For some live, local music, make a move to Parquet de las Palapas with some friends. Grab a cold cerveza (beer) from one of the food stands and take it all in. Then explore what’s on offer party-wise in Cancun.

Day 10: Cancun

Today, your Trip Manager will take you to hidden spots and show off tropical jungle and watering holes. Then with a full free day, make the most of Cancun’s action and crystal clear waters. We get away from it all and head to the pint-sized Isla Mujeres. With no cars and little development, this is the place to wind down on pristine beaches and soak up the sun. Experience its fabulous coral reefs on our optional Garrafon Natural Reef Park excursion. If you’re keen, you can even swim with dolphins here. You could head to Punta Nizuc for some more snorkeling. For something different have a look through La Casa des Artes Mexicanas (House of Mexican Art), where you’ll see musical instruments, handmade kids’ toys and traditional costumes. Opt for a trip to Xcaret Ecopark, where Mayan ruins, a stunning inlet and jungle combine to make this place so special. Have a swim in the underground river and see colorful birdlife and a butterfly farm. Later why not get into the fun, festive vibes of Cancun and settle in on an open terrace beachside or at a small, local bar. Keep it moving until the sun comes up if you want – Cancun nightlife is the stuff of legends.

Day 11: Cancun

Make this city your playground & start out with a free day to explore. From snorkelling the clear blue waters to sitting back with a beer. You can shop, catch some rays & people watch

Day 12: Cancun & Playa del Carmen

Can't get enough of Playa del Carmen? We thought so! So how about adding something extra to your Mexican extravaganza by taking a day trip to Cozumel island, to experience the Caribbean in all its tropical glory? Snorkelling is also on the menu for those who want to see the world from an 'underwater' angle.

Day 13: Playa del Carmen

Mexico, you've stolen a slice of our hearts forever but with Belize & the Caribbean Island of Caye Caulker on the horizon, we're not feeling too sad... Rub your eyes, blink and blink again - yes this pinch yourself tropical paradise truly is real, and you're in it! This evening is all about enjoying the last dregs of sunshine, sampling fresh seafood and getting down to some reggae rhythms...

Day 14: Playa del Carmen to Caye Caulker

With a big breakfast in our bellies, it's time to get out there and explore! Belize has a spectacular Barrier Reef that is just begging to be discovered, so grab a snorkel and take the plunge. Back on land, it's all sandy palm tree lined streets, colourful hammocks swinging softly in the breeze, and bars serving rum punch fresh out of coconuts. Is this the life? You betcha.

Day 15: Caye Caulker

The day is all yours! Fuel up at breakfast, then you get to make the most of our ME Time optionals, like swimming with sharks at Belize’s World Heritage Barrier Reef, Kayaking the mangroves or lazing on “The Split” (a break in the island), where sipping and sunbathing is the scene! Enjoy included snacks, drinks and music during for our last night on the island.

Day 16: Caye Caulker to Tikal

Next up, Guatemala's El Petén ragion via Belize City! On arrival at our awesome Jungle Lodge there's the option to fly through the rainforest canopy on ziplines.. why not! Explore the local ruins then drift off to sleep to the sounds of the forest.

Day 17: Tikal to Antigua

Rise early today to watch daybreak unfold from the top of the Mayan ruin Templo IV. We will take a guided tour of the area before a trip to the island of Flores, where we'll have lunch and time for shopping before flying this afternoon to Guatemala's capital city and then on to beautiful Antigua.

Day 18: Antigua

With the day all yours, see the sights & tick those boxes. Adventure seekers can hike a volcano or ride mountain bikes. Or if you want to relax you could try making local native chocolates or shop for traditional textiles.

Day 19: Depart Antigua

Today we bid farewell to Antigua and to our new contiki family. But it doesn't have to be the end. Reunion next year in Europe?
