What's this trip about?

Jordan’s past may be etched in stone (and buried by sand), but its future is written in glass and steel. Kick off this eight-day group tour in Amman, one of the Middle East’s modern up-and-comers, where underground galleries, trendy cafes and skyscrapers rub shoulders with treasures from Islamic antiquity. Then there’s the other Jordan, the Nabataean kingdom among the dunes – home to crusader castles, the faded footprints of Lawrence of Arabia and white-robed shepherds leading their flocks across the desert. Travel across the lunar landscape of Wadi Rum on a jeep safari and camp out beneath the stars, float in the Dead Sea, explore palm-fringed wadis and wander old Roman roads to the ancient city of Petra.

Accommodation:

Grand Palace Hotel or Similar (3 nts), Amra Palace Hotel or similar (2 nts), My Hotel Room B.B. (1 nt), Mohammed Mutlak Camp or similar (1 nt) The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline. On rare occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our usual accommodation. A similar standard of accommodation will be used in these instances. Throughout the trip we request that our hotels prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination. If you've purchased pre-trip or post-trip accommodation (if available), you may be required to change rooms from your trip accommodation for these extra nights.HEATING & AIR-CONDITIONING: Please note that as a desert region, Jordan can have extreme weather. Winter (approx. December to February) can be very cold. Consider bringing a sleeping bag, thermals, scarf, gloves and a warm jacket for travel in this period. Summer (approx. June to August) can be very hot. Although typically hotels do have air-conditioning it's not guaranteed that functioning air-conditioning will always be available.

    Meals introduction

While travelling with us you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. On our camping trips we often cook the region's specialities so you don't miss out. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.
