Style Style Small Group Tour Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.
Private Guided Private tours give you the undivided attention of a guide, and often involve special access to sites and unique experiences not available to larger groups. This is a great option for families, couples, and small friend groups. Expect to pay a bit more for the extra service.
Self Guided Tour A travel company plans your itinerary and arranges all the logistics including lodging, local activities, and transportantion. You have the flexibility of a solo trip while still getting the convience and time savings of expert planning. Get 90% of the benefits of a tour, without a guide.
Group Tour Groups are between 25-60 people, typically ~30-40. Usually there will be many opportunities to split off and enjoy meals and excursions in smaller groups. This is the most economical way to travel, saving up to 40% versus booking the same itinerary yourself.
River Cruise These vessels are smaller than most ocean cruisers, limiting which amenties are available. Passenger counts can vary. One of the biggest advantages of a river cruise is the ability to dock at smaller ports and local villages.
Small Ship Cruise Small ship cruises usually have a max passenger count of 500. The primary purpose of these trips is to spend time off the vessel in local ports (e.g. Mediterranean) or experiencing nature (e.g Galapagos or Antarctica). Cabins can vary from budget to luxury.
Large Ship Cruise This is the "floating city" experience, with multiple ways to enjoy your vacation aboard the ship as much as on land. Ships are multiple floors, provide several activities, culinary, and shopping options. They often make fewer stops and have less time available for shore excursions.
Retreats Similar to a self guided tour but staying in one location only with activities and day outings included as a part of the stay.

Top Nepal Attractions & Experiences

Top Nepal Experiences

    • Strolling past the more than 50 temples and palaces that sprawl across Durbar Square in Kathmandu, and the smaller collections of religious architectural treasures in nearby Patan and Bhaktapur.
    • Trekking for days around the Annapurna massif for breath-taking views of that awesome range.
    • Clambering aboard an elephant for a rock-and-rolling ride through Royal Chitwan National Park to spot rhinos, wild boar, crocodiles, monkeys and other resident wildlife.
    • Photographing scenery – towering mountains, deep green-clad valleys, glacial rivers, plummeting waterfalls – that rivals any on earth.
    • Discovering tiny villages laid out along narrow cobblestone streets that could have been plucked from medieval Europe and transported to their present idyllic setting.
    • Interacting with some of the most friendly people anywhere -- whose perpetual greeting, Namaste (na-ma-stay), which means “welcome,” says it all.
    • Observing the extent to which religion is as much a part of life as eating and breathing to most Nepalese, who express their devotion throughout the day and into night at both immense places of worship and tiny family shrines.

Just returned from the Best of India tour last night. Could not wait to give my reviews. As I have told my friends words cannot decribe the "awesomeness" of the tour. The rich history of India, the sweet nature of the people there and our incredible knowledgeable and humble tour guide Jasvir. Every question was answered with such perfect explanation and his in-depth knowledge of the forts and temples was amazing. He took care of each and everyone as if each was a long time friend. At the end of this journey you get emotional and bitter sweet. One caveat : walk with toilet paper wherever you go.

Tour guide Jasvir Saurana has been one of the best I've experienced in my 14 escorted tours over the years. He is knowledgeable, organized, experienced and most of all proud of his country. Being born of Indian parents but never visiting this awesome country until now, I had only minimum knowledge of this magnificent country with all its grandeur and history. Jasvir opened my eyes to so much more with his detailed explanations of India and Nepal in all their majesty. He is very caring and generous with his time and I'm grateful that I was a participant in this journey. Accommodations, transportation and incredible staff made my trip amazing and incredible. I compliment SmarTours for this great experience and would certainly travel with them again. Three Cheers for SmarTours and 10+ for Jasvir Saurana. Namaste.

a totally wonderful tour with Tereza who was passionate about Prague s history and her knowledge in general was expansive and was relayed to us with character which made the whole day so enjoyable highly recommended. Prague itself is stunning but to have the added bonus of a place to eat where the locals go and knowledge about this incredible city was very much a bonus.
My wife & I came away thoroughly invigorated after our tour .. really good !

If seeing Bhutan and hiking in the Himalayan region is on your bucket list,
then the Land of the Thunder Dragon tour is for you! This trip was such a
good mix, that it made me really feel like I got to see a good variety and
experience Bhutan to the fullest.
We got to trek for five days, seeing beautiful scenery, visit two festivals
(including a really fun, smaller local one, and a more famous and larger one
in the city), and visited many cultural sites.
Exodus Travels has an amazing local staff in Bhutan, and the guides were all
great. Everything was organized down to the last detail, and the trip was
executed flawlessly.
I can't recommend this trip enough!
On the fourth day of our hike, the clouds cleared and we got to see some of
the world's tallest unclimbed mountains!

We had two leaders, Norbu and Tshering, and they were both excellent. They
knew the answer to every question anyone could possibly have about Bhutan!
They both had outgoing, fun personalities and worked to make sure everyone on
the trip was happy and having a good time.

Pack warmer clothes than you think you'll need for the hike, and pack modest
but cooler clothes for the rest of the trip if you're going in September.
