Day 1: Welcome to Bangkok

Day 2: Out and About in Bangkok
Meal: Breakfast and Lunch
Beyond the modern day bustle of the city, life along the canals continues much as it has for generations. Step into this timeless world as you explore the waterways in a traditional long-tail boat. Ascend to the Temple of Dawn and explore the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
Day 3: Enduring ways + the culinary scene
Meal: Breakfast and Dinner
Join city residents for their daily alms ritual as Buddhist monks emerge from their temple. Offering food and flowers to these saffronclad barefoot monks is a timeless tradition that endures across Southeast Asia. Later, spending time with monks at Wat Pho offers deeper insight into their daily lives. Tonight’s culinary tour finds you mingling with locals in Chinatown, sampling a wide variety of Asian delicacies from the many food vendors.
Day 4: Fly to Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is revered by the Thai as the cultural and spiritual heart of their country. Upon arrival, explore the historic areas within the old city walls and then ascend to 3,500 feet to tour the glittering mountaintop temple of Doi Suthep. Enjoy three unhurried nights at the deluxe Anantara Chiang Mai Hotel.
Day 5: Hill tribes of the north + temples of the city
Meal: Breakfast
The mountains outside of Chiang Mai are dotted with remote villages that encompass a range of different ethnic tribes including the Palong tribe that emerged from Tibet and the famed long-neck women of the Karen tribe. This morning is filled with remarkable discovery and engagement as you visit a number of these villages. Back in the city, our special trishaw adventure is a great way to explore the city’s most revered temples.
Day 6: Adventures in the jungle!
Meal: Breakfast and Lunch
Journey to Mae Taman to see elephants hauling and stacking logs as they did in the heydey of Thailand’s lumber industry. Then explore the jungle from a variety of thrilling perspectives from atop an elephant, by traditional ox-drawn cart and down the Mae Tang River aboard a bamboo raft.
Day 7: Fly via Mandalay to Bagan
Meal: Breakfast and Dinner
Accommodation: Aureum Palace Hotel.
Across the wooded plains of Bagan, you can gaze in wonder upon thousands of temples that reflect centuries of Buddhist faith. Upon arrival, you’ll visit the most significant and best preserved of these ancient pagodas. This evening, watch from atop one of these ancient temples as the sun sets across the golden templedotted landscape. Check in to the Aureum Palace Hotel.
Day 8: A day in Bagan
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Early risers can opt for a hot air balloon adventure over the temples of Bagan, shimmering in the golden light of dawn. At a busy morning market, you’ll experience a slice of village life. After lunch, traveling by horse-drawn carriage is a memorable and unhurried way to explore lesser-visited temples not easily accessible by vehicle.
Day 9: Onward to Inle Lake
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Inle Princess Resort
Fly to Heho and visit the Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung Monastery. Then continue by boat across Inle Lake to visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda; with 5 ancient gilded images of Buddha, this is the holiest monastery on the lake. Enjoy two nights at the Inle Princess Resort.
Day 10: A day on Inle Lake
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Left in their natural state, many crumbling to the ground, the ancient temples and stupas of Inn Dein have a haunting beauty and bear witness to Burma’s long and rich spiritual heritage. After lunch, learn about the traditional crafts like cigar making and silk weaving that support many village families. An afternoon canoe ride explores remote floating villages and is a great chance to observe the lake’s famed leg-rowing fishermen.
Day 11: Fly to Yangon
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Strand Hotel
Amidst ancient pagodas, Yangon’s splendid Colonial buildings evoke the spirit of Burma’s British legacy and today’s sightseeing reveals both realms, including Scott Market and the Shwedagon Pagoda, glittering with gold leaf and 8,000 diamonds, rubies and sapphires! Dine this evening at the elegant Strand Grill and spend the night at the historic Strand Hotel. Meals B+L+D
