Day 1: International outbound flight
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane

Day 3: Vientiane
Today you will explore the city by bicycle. This takes in the most famous colonial and religious architecture and also contrasts that with some peaceful 'local' areas. In the early evening your guide will take you down to one of our best-loved spots on the banks of the Mekong so that you can enjoy a cold drink as the sun sets. As the evening moves on you will explore the riverbank further, mixing with the locals as you try various local delicacies.

Day 4: Hin Boun
Your road trip begins with a journey to the Hin Boun National Park.

Full day exploring the stunning Kong Lor Cave and the surrounding villages.

Day 6: Nam Theun National Protected Area
Journey on to Nam Theun Protected Area via the small town of Lak Sao, where you will stop for lunch. This afternoon you will take a long tail boat into the heart of the protected area. Overnight in a simple beach camp.

Day 7: Langkhang
Enjoy a morning trek before journeying back to Thalang. Afterwards you will continue on to Langkhang where you will be spending the night.

Day 8: Thakhek
This morning you will have an adventure exploring one of the least-known areas in Indochina at the Xe Bang Fai Cave. Travel by boat and car onto the sleepy town of Thakek this afternoon to be reacquainted with the Mekong River.

Day 9: Champasak
Wat Phou Temple's Southern Palaces, Champasak
Today you will be driven south to the peaceful town of Champasak which is famous for one of the most impressive temples in Laos; Wat Phou. This evening you can enjoy one of the best views in Laos as the sun sets over La Folie Lodge.

Day 10: Champasak
This morning you will uncover the secrets of Champasak with a private walking tour before returning to your hotel. You may wish to have an afternoon by the pool or take out bikes to explore the island.

Day 11: Phra Wihan
After breakfast you will travel to Wat Phou as the early morning is a nice cool time to climb the many steps of the temple complex and avoid the crowds. Then travel on the border to cross into Cambodia, stopping en route for lunch. Upon completing immigration formalities you will meet your Cambodian guide and transfer to nearby Preah Vihear where you will be spending the night.

Day 12: Siem Reap
Explore Preah Vihear this morning. Considered by many to be among the most impressive temples in Asia, it is a privilege to be able to visit again after it was off-limits for many years due to a border dispute with Thailand. Continue south to another off the beaten track area at Phnom Kulen, before reaching Banteay Srei. Here you will overnight in a local homestay.

Day 13: Siem Reap

Today is a busy one, full of the must-see attractions within the temples of Angkor. Highlights include Ta Prohm which was made famous by the Tomb Raider film. The imposing faces of The Bayon are not to be missed and the day ends at Angkor Wat itself. As with all of our touring we go to great lengths to get the best guides and plan things in such a way as to avoid crowds when possible and see things in the best light of the day.

Are they the cheapest in the world? No but the service they provide is exceptional and in my view worth every single penny.
The planning process was well thought out and executed, we even had a zoom call with a country expert to ask questions and listen to advice before our trip.
The paperwork they provide for you to take with you is well packaged and easy to read etc. The back up service is there and we even had an email after we had landed home saying they had checked our flights had landed on time and they hope everything had gone to plan.

Authentic and seamless first trip with Audley
Every hour and excursion is well thought out and stitched together seamlessly by Holly at Audley. Our itinerary sent us on a wonderful, magical tour of Peru where we met by top notch drivers and guides taking us to the most magical places.
Laura our guide in Arequippa was second to none, giving us great insight and knowledge into Peruvian culture, history and landscapes. Laura took us off on walks, to villages and social interactions which we would never get with a usual tour operator. Away from the tourist traps, we experienced Peru in a completely authentic way. It was an education. Fully immersed in our travels, learning out the culture along the way, all we had to do was turn up. Our teenager was engaged every moment by our guides and their insight.
All the hotels were beautiful, well located and very clean. We stayed in Cusco, explored the area and trekked to Macchu Pichu with Alpaca Expeditions (arranged by Audley) – a great trekking company and well worth the experience. Everything went like clockwork; all we had to do was turn up and enjoy. We thoroughly recommend Audley to plan your trip. Well worth the money for their expertise and attention to detail in a very authentic, personal way with fantastic guides and drivers.
