Short Description
A scattering of over 700 subtropical islands, uninhabited cays and great crescents of coral reef, the Bahamas set the stage for a beach escape. You’ll find limestone-white coves and honeyed beaches encircling lush mangroves, thick forest and towns that come alive with the pulsing beat of a rake-and-scrape band.
Itinerary
Day 1 Nassau
Nassau
On arrival in Nassau you'll meet your driver and enjoy a private transfer to one of the many luxurious hotels in the city. This afternoon, perhaps take a stroll down the long stretches of white sand beach and dip your toes in the warm water. This evening, you could head into the city for dinner, we can recommend the Greycliff Hotel, which serves exquisite modern Caribbean fare and delicious home-distilled rum cocktails.
Day 2 Nassau
Nassau
This morning's culinary walking tour of Nassau will take you to local vendors, bakers and chefs, who will provide dishes for you to sample. From cracked conch to baked rum cakes, you'll have a full insight to some of the island's foods and great local restaurant recommendations. In the afternoon, you could grab your snorkel and flippers and dive into the warm turquoise waters to spot swathes of marine life.
Day 3 Nassau
Nassau
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before being collected for today's sailing trip. You'll leave the dock on Paradise Island and sail out to secluded Rose Island, which is an isolated sand bank surrounded by vibrant coral reef. Tuck into a delicious Bahamian lunch and then relax on the beach, play volleyball or swim in the ocean. After an adventurous afternoon, you'll be dropped back at your hotel.
Day 4 Eleuthera
Nassau , Eleuthera
After a leisurely breakfast, your driver will take you by private car to the airport, for a 30-minute domestic flight over to the small island of Eleuthera. On arrival, make your way through customs to an awaiting driver, who will transport you to your new accommodation. In the afternoon, why not take a stroll down to the white-sand beach or relax by the poolside. The hotels on Eleuthera have excellent choices for dinner if you wish to stay in tonight.
Day 5 Eleuthera
Eleuthera
For your first full day in Eleuthera, we can recommend asking the hotel to organise some transfers for you to visit the local pineapple plantations in Gregory Town, some of the more remote and wild beaches down in South Eleuthera, or a visit to the pastel cottages and white-washed houses of Governors Harbour. The Glass Window Bridge is not to be missed with views out to the dark blue Atlantic on one side and the Bight of Eleuthera on the other.
Day 6 Eleuthera
Eleuthera
One of the highlights of this itinerary is a visit to Harbour Island. Harbour Island is a small island just off the northeast coast of Eleuthera and can be reached by a short taxi ride, followed by a seven minute boat ride. Once on Harbour Island, there are several beaches for you to relax on but the most famous is Pink Sands Beach on the west shore of the island. In Dunmore Town, there is a selection of independent cafes and shops to explore.
Day 7 Eleuthera
Eleuthera
The white waves of the Atlantic crash against the rocky shore of the east of the island, while the calm water of the Bight of Eleuthera lap against the soft sand on the west of the island. You may wish to take a walk along the coastline and explore some of the islands natural blue holes and coves. Alternatively, spend the day resting at the hotel by the pool.
Day 8 Eleuthera
Eleuthera
Other than Harbour Island, there's another small island off the north coast of Eleuthera called Spanish Wells. We recommend speaking to the hotel about the water taxi timetable to plan your journey there today. The village on Spanish Wells is tiny, so it may be worth bringing your own provisions for the day's exploration. As the shallow fringing reef runs right against Eleuthera the waters off Spanish Wells are ideal for snorkeling and swimming.
Day 9 Return home
Eleuthera , Nassau
You'll have most of the day at leisure to enjoy the spa, pool and beach before being transferred back to the airport in time for your 30 minute flight to Nassau. You'll have plenty of time to collect your luggage and check in before your international flight.

So much more than a travel agent
The second and more recent time was on a trip to Vietnam organised by their Indochina expert Ross Cleary.
We were on the final day of a 19 day trip to Vietnam and Cambodia which given the quality the hotels and excursions arranged by Ross was shaping up to be the best holiday we had ever taken.
Unfortunately my wife developed breathing difficulties and I had to take her to hospital. The hospital decided to admit her and we were left very frightened and wondering what to do about our flights which were due to leave in 4 hours time. There is a 7 hour time difference between U.K. and Vietnam so it was the middle of the night in the U.K. However, one phone call to the Audley duty manager had me connected to him via "whatsapp" so that he could update me real time on the situation without the £7 per minute phone charges. The flights were postponed, I was put up in the closest hotel to the hospital and Audley took care of all the minutiae so that I could concentrate on my wife who was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Upon being discharged my wife was told she could not travel immediately. We spent a total of 8 days in a hotel arranged by Audleys local partners Vidotours. A fantastic hotel at a very reasonable price. The hotel bill was covered until I got home and the flights were re-instated for a tiny admin fee.
We don't always use a travel company to book our holidays, but visiting out of the way places where local knowledge and support can be invaluable I would thoroughly recommend Audley.
These guys are so much more than a travel agent.
No prizes for guessing that I will be using them on my next big excursion. Thank you. Pete
We were quoted an extortionate price…
It might be different for other countries, as we have friends who have been happy with Audley’s service to the US, but we found it completely overpriced but more importantly unjustifiably so as we couldn’t see any added value.
