Mumbai Tours & Travel Guide
The history of Mumbai is incredibly rich and stretches far back, through Islamic Sultanates and Buddhist empires. Originally consisting of seven islands, it was joined together by a series of reclamations under the rule of Ashoka, the famous Emperor who ruled during the 3rd century BC.
Mumbai may be India’s richest city, but an estimated half of the population lives in a slum. Within a 15 minute subway ride, you can go from one of the world’s largest slums to one of the world’s most expensive homes.
The best time to visit Mumbai is from December to February, when the weather is cool and dry for the most part. During other times of the year it is incredibly hot and humid.
If you visit Mumbai, just be sure to use your street smarts and you will find the city to be an enjoyable experience. For starters, it’s best to travel in a group rather than alone. At night, stay in well-lit tourist areas, and don’t wander around after 10pm.
