Yosemite, located in central California, is an amazing natural spectacle of giant rock formations, tumbling waterfalls, and high-altitude meadows laced with hiking trails both easy and challenging. The park's most iconic rock formation, Half Dome, draws serious hikers, while the sheer granite cliff known as El Capitan beckons extremely serious rock climbers. Most visitors are content to hike to waterfalls, set up camp or stay in lodges, and enjoy long-range views of Half Dome by day and night. Yosemite does get very crowded in summer, so an organized tour can both secure lodging and help you get off the beaten path.
Many Ways to Experience Yosemite
Touring Yosemite can be done several different ways. Short breaks won’t allow you to get very far into the park, but they still allow for a lot of time for hiking and viewing the park’s incredible natural wonders.
However, a longer break affords you the time to venture further, and cover more ground. You can enjoy longer hikes, as well as take a photography class or mountain climbing excursion. Many hikes or climbs in Yosemite are at least half day ventures, if not more, so having the extra time can be very useful.
If you’re not a mountain climber, the park offers a multitude of other activities - including easy to challenging hikes.

The very place that inspired Ansel Adams is a mecca for photography enthusiasts. However, to get to those incredible views, there’s pretty much no way to get there except by foot. Invest in some quality photography bags to make sure your equipment stays safe and protected.
