Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg, South Africa

Meals: Dinner

Accommodation: Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa

Arrive in Johannesburg, where you are met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a gourmet welcome dinner prepared with locally sourced ingredients. A professional photographer joins you to offer tips for the days ahead.

Day 2: Livingstone, Zambia | Sundowner River Cruise

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma

Fly to Livingstone, Zambia. On arrival, continue overland to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, where you stay in a luxury tree house built into the riverside canopy. At twilight, cruise the Zambezi River, sipping cocktails, gazing out across a verdant vista and gliding past pods of hippos, on a memorable Scenic Sundowner.

Day 3: Livingstone | Design Your Day

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma

This morning, enjoy one of these Design Your Day activities.

Tour Victoria Falls from the Zambia Side to watch the Zambezi River cascade over a 1.2-mile-wide lip of basalt.

Visit Nakatindi Village to see a bike shop, school and clinic supported by A&K Philanthropy, and then cycle back to the lodge for an active way to view the area.

Walk Close to Rhinos, pausing on a game drive in Mosioa-Tunya National Park to draw near the giants on foot.

Return to camp for lunch and the rest of your afternoon at leisure. Tonight, enjoy a cocktail and a Chef’s Table tasting of traditional Zambian fare, followed by dinner.

Day 4: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe | The Smoke That Thunders

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero

This morning, drive to Zimbabwe to join your private guide on an awe-inspiring exploration of Victoria Falls, which plummet 354 feet to cast up the mist that inspired their original name, Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders). Enjoy lunch in the town of Victoria Falls before continuing to Chobe National Park in Botswana to settle into your lodge for unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains of the Chobe River. This afternoon, set out on a river cruise or game drive that includes the opportunity to see elephants — a staggering 120,000 live in the park — along with impalas, buffalo and possibly lions. Return to the lodge to relax in the comforts of your luxury accommodations and enjoy a freshly prepared meal. Later, drift to sleep, serenaded by the sounds of Africa beneath a blanket of stars.

Day 5: Chobe National Park, Botswana | Chobe River Safari

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero

Set out on a game drive at sunrise to catch the animals at the start of their day, when they are most active. You may even glimpse a leopard returning from the hunt. Visit the village of Kasane to see how the Dipetsana Women’s Bike Shop, a project supported by A&K Philanthropy, benefits the local community, for an insightful A&K exclusive experience. Later, embark on a Chobe River safari cruise and watch for crocodiles and hippos, as well as elephants that come down to drink and play in the water. The park’s beautiful wetlands also lure a wealth of birdlife to the region, and you may glimpse many of the 460 species that either live here or migrate through, including raptors, vultures and waterfowl. When you return to the lodge this evening, revel in the comforts of your luxury accommodations, gather for dinner and share stories of your day.

Days 6-7: Okavango Delta | Wonders of A Private Reserve

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Stanley's Camp

Fly to a vast private concession in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure with a choice of activities, such as a Ride Like a Local by seasonal mokoro (dugout canoe) on the delta or a nighttime game-viewing drive, made possible on this private reserve. The next morning, continue with your choice of activities. Set off on a thrilling, guided game drive in a customized 4x4 vehicle or a bush walk in the company of an armed, expert guide, on the lookout for Africa’s smaller denizens among the unique flora.

Accommodations vary by departure date. See Dates and Prices for details.

Day 8: Okavango Delta | Predator Capital

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Chief's Camp

Fly across the Okavango Delta to your next amazing safari camp. Widely acknowledged as the “Predator Capital of the World,” this area offers some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa and is one of the best places in Botswana to see the Big Five — lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and Cape buffalo — drawn here from surrounding regions by the lush delta. Predators include cheetahs, spotted hyenas and, at the very top of the food chain, large resident prides of lions. This afternoon, take advantage of game-viewing activities led by experienced guides or enjoy the vistas from your own private viewing deck.

Accommodations vary by departure date. See Dates and Prices for details.

Day 9: Okavango Delta | Remarkable Game Drives

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Sanctuary Chief's Camp

Depart on another spectacular early morning game drive. Beyond predators, the Okavango Delta draws large concentrations of elephants, buffalo, red lechwes, giraffes and impalas. Enjoy a seasonal mokoro ride for a rare safari opportunity across deceptively quiet marshlands alive with crocodiles, bathing hippos, birds and tiny red reed frogs. If you opt for an afternoon game drive, listen for roaring lions on the hunt or spy nocturnal animals as they start out for the night. After a full day of game viewing, return to your camp to relax and enjoy a farewell dinner.

Accommodations vary by departure date. See Dates and Prices for details.

Day 10: Depart Johannesburg, South Africa

Meals: Breakfast

Fly to Johannesburg for your flight home. Relax in the Premier Lounge, compliments of A&K, before your departure.

We took the A & K Small Group Tour to Rome, Florence & Venice. The experience exceeded expectations! Wonderful itinerary (with the ability to flex to the group's unique needs & requests!). Our guide (Emmanuela) was exceptional! Fun, extremely organized, considerate of all group members & always making sure that we had a 5-Star experience. Highly recommend this company (& this tour) - we will travel with A & K again!

We are just returning from our African safari and it was amazing! It exceeded our every expectation. The best part was spending time with our excellent A&K guides Ngochi and Ngige. We learned so much from them and they were excellent spotters. I loved seeing their excitement when we spotted something new. It is obvious they love what they do even after 20 years in the business.
This trip should be on everyone’s bucket list and I would highly recommend A&K and encourage you to request Ngochi and Ngige.
Covid threw us a few curves (mandatory Covid tests, masks, etc) but it is a great time to travel. We felt completely safe and were on our own private safari!

We booked our bucket list trip to Southeast Asia, we were scheduled to depart on March 4th. That’s when the Corona Pandemic was becoming rampant worldwide. We were reaching out to them constantly during the weeks beforehand, looking to reschedule or cancel our trip due to the travel hazards. We were shocked to find out there was NO understanding nor negotiating options with them or upper management. We have heard from several other friends who had trips scheduled around this same timeframe and their companies reached out to them directly and offered refunds or scheduling changes due to the Corona Pandemic. We will NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE THEM AGAIN. TRAVELERS BEWARE.

Just completed the A&K Southeast Asia and Angkor Wat Tour. I had a great time with Angkor Wat being the pearl of the trip. Our guide Truong was wonderful. He was the best guide I have ever had on any tour by far.
