Highlights

  • Baddeck: Experience warm hospitality and Cape Breton-style home cooking with traditional music. Join local musicians and engage in an evening of song, dance and storytelling for a unique insight into Acadian culture.
  • Halifax: Immerse yourself in Nova Scotia's rich maritime heritage at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Discover history, including the Halifax Explosion and the sinking of the Titanic through an immersive visit. History comes alive as you sit in a replica Titanic deck chair or climb aboard the CSS Acadia. Learn about Halifax’s connection to the Titanic: When ship owners in New York heard the ship hit an iceberg, they thought it would travel to Halifax. In the end, 150 of the 1518 lives lost were buried in Halifax. You’ll appreciate gaining insights into history exploring exhibits from a small craft boat building to World War Convoys, the Titanic to the Halifax Explosion, events and people who have defined Nova Scotia and its relationship with the sea.
  • Halifax: Embark an exploration of this cosmopolitan, eclectic port city of Halifax with your Local Expert. Travel to the local cemetery where many of the Titanic victims were laid to rest before a visit to the Victorian-era inspired Halifax Public Gardens and bustling harbor front. Learn how the growth of this maritime hub can be attributed to its economic ties with the fishing industry, shipbuilding and trade, fostering a maritime culture that persists today. Your in-depth city tour will end at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for a docent-led tour.
  • Lunenburg: The hand-picked UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg invites you to discover its storied streets. Experience one of the best surviving examples of a planned British Colonial settlement in North America before meeting a Local Expert for a walking tour. Your guided tour will make sites come alive with cultural wonders like superstitions, folklore and local facts. All will be woven together with unique personal stories as you stroll past its brightly painted houses.
  • Peggy's Cove: Visit scenic Peggy's Cove, a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay southwest of downtown Halifax. Take in the breathtaking coastal scenery, including its iconic Peggy's Cove Lighthouse perched on rugged granite rocks. Embrace this area's serene beauty, fishing village and artistic community that make it one of Nova Scotia's most favorite destinations.

What travelers are saying

"I had a hard time walking and keeping up with the group. I didn't realize when I signed up there would be that much all at one time. Our leader would walk ahead and then stop to wait for me to catch up. I wish he would have slowed down so I could keep up. I enjoyed his knowledge of the area we toured"

What travelers are saying

"I did the EBC trek with Intrepid in September and October. Our group missed the first 3 days of the planned 12 day trek due to bad weather. There was a real fear we would not be able to do the trek at all. Intrepid sorted out additional accommodation and flights once we were able to fly. Our group made it to EBC by missing the 2 acclimation days on the accent and descending in 3 days instead of 4. This was only possible because of the awesome staff (guides and porters) employed by Intrepid and by Intrepid's backroom staff making alternative accommodation and flight arrangements for us."

Highlights

  • Vancouver: Embark on an orientation tour of Vancouver, including Gastown, Canada Place and Stanley Park including a stop to view the famous collection of First Nations totem poles.
  • North Vancouver: Vancouver's original and still main attraction to date - no visit would be complete without an adventure to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park to soak in the view from above and marvel at its engineering. Originally built in 1889, Capilano Suspension Bridge stretches 450 ft across and 230 ft above Capilano River. Since then, much has been added to the 27-acre park. Cliffwalk is the parks newest attraction - a cantilevered walkway clinging to the granite cliff high above Capilano Canyon. Treetops Adventure, seven suspension bridges through the evergreens taking you up to 100 ft above the forest floor, offers a unique squirrel's eye perspective of the forest.
  • Victoria: Visit the stunning floral displays at world-renowned Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada. A must-see oasis which has been growing for over 100 years and remains privately owned by the family.
  • Victoria: Enjoy Tour Director led, in depth tour of Mount Tolmie, Canada's oldest Chinatown, the bustling Inner Harbor, and stately Legislative Buildings. In-depth tour of Victoria to include Mount Tolmie, the Uplands, Scenic Drive, Mile 0, Inner Harbor, Parliament Buildings; Government Street to Old Town, Canada's oldest Chinatown and view the last remnants of Fort Victoria. Continue on as you follow Antique Row before passing Craigdarroch Castle and through the Oak Bay residential area.
  • Mount Robson: Enroute a stop will be made at Mount Robson Provincial Park, which is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the best views of Mount Robson, which at 12,972 ft (3,954 meters) is the most prominent mountain in North America's Rocky Mountain range and the highest point in the Canadian Rockies.
