What travelers are saying
"A beautiful boat, excellent food, although it would have been nice to experienced some international flavours eg: Japanese, Indian etc, however I could not fault the presentation and flavours of the food that was served. The tours we went on were very good, knowledgeable, guides and fun to be with. However a high percentage of the staff were very biased toward the American travellers and were always friendly helpful towards them, this could not be said about their attitude towards the UK travellers, on several occasion I experienced positive rudeness. I am not a demanding person and always try to be as understanding as I can to people that are serving me. On our final day we had a long wait for our taxi and were kindly given the use of the lounge and lunch. Having waited some 30 minutes for a glass of sparking water, I went and waited at the bar whilst an American traveler was served. Much laughter was exchanged with this passenger and once served, the barman turned his back on me. When he was ready he turned, rolled his eyes and said " Yeh what do you want"!!!..... one glass of slightly flat spring water was delivered with a thump on the bar and he turned away. I know I had done nothing to offend this employee and had I not experienced and seen the same thing happened to others I would have thought is was a one off, however I felt uncomfortable most of the week with similar behaviour. It's a shame, but if the preference is for the American travellers that fine by me, but I won't be travelling again with Avalon."

"I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the hotel accommodations during my recent trip with Globus. The quality of the hotels was far below what I expected, particularly given the substantial amount I paid for the trip. It is not the responsibility of the guests to bring up these issues with the tour guide; these concerns should have been proactively addressed by Globus. I question whether Globus inspects the facilities, tests the food, or even stays in the rooms. If they did, I find it hard to believe they would choose these hotels for themselves, let alone their guests. Below are the specific issues I encountered at each hotel: - **7/7-7/8: Crown Hotel Plymouth** - The room had no hot water, a broken couch, peeling paint, and when I requested a room change, I was refused. To make matters worse, the view was of the roof. These issues made for a very uncomfortable stay. - **7/11: Clayton Hotel Glasgow** - The room's view was also of the roof, the accommodations were subpar, only one elevator was functioning, and the dinner served was simply unacceptable. - **7/12: Mercure Hotel Inverness** - Again, the accommodations were substandard. The window latch was broken, there was no air conditioning, the gym was non-existent, and the elevators could barely accommodate 2-4 people at a time. - **7/13-7/15: Mercure Hotel Edinburgh** - The window would not latch securely, the view was of a brick wall, there was no phone in the room, and the fan provided had no front cover, making it unsafe to use. - **7/15-7/16: Mercure York** - This was, by far, the worst hotel of the trip. My first-floor room was noisy, the hallway reeked of sewage, and there was tissue stuffed in the ceiling crown molding to hide a hole. The room had no air conditioning or fan, and I could not open the windows as the room was on the first floor. Additionally, the dinner served was unappetizing. Globus solution to this was to offer me a $650 refund! Unacceptable. Do not use them you will regret it."

What travelers are saying
"I am a 12 time traveler with Grand Circle and OAT. But maybe no more. They are impossible to reach by phone without waiting for hours. I even tired their emergency phone number and was on hold for hours. What if I had been stranded in a foreign country? They cancelled my Eastern Europe to Black Sea Cruise in Sept 2021 and cited "covid" or "civil unrest" issues. Baloney. They cancelled because they did not sell out the cruise and lied about it to me. I know because I went with Viking during the same month with no excuses like Grand Circle gave me. Add to that they promised me a $1,000 credit on my next trip- which was to Antarctica in December. The invoice they sent me showed the credit- and 1 month later a new invoice arrived with the credit removed. Why? Another lie? Something is really wrong here with the company now and I would suggest be very careful with bookings as they are not the same company I traveled with for the past 12 years."

What travelers are saying
"Most of the people on this 17-day river cruise was quite elderly and infirm. Therefore the complimentary excursions were painfully slow walking. Local guides mostly told stories of their own upbringing and the conflicts they lived through. There was not much history on any of the excursions; and none of the buildings we saw gave us an opportunity to go inside, even the paid excursions. The accommodations were excellent, except that we paid for the best veranda but could not sit on our veranda because for the first 5 days our ship was packed tight next to another Viking ship. Food was good, except for dinners which were quite mediocre and never captured the flavor of the local foods."
